Today’s Date Module 1: Community Educational Project Site Selection and Letter of
Permission Goals After completing this module, you will be able to do the following: Identify
the rationale for engaging and collaborating with healthcare professionals and community
members in developing an educational project Explain the development of a comprehensive
community engagement strategy Overview Most community educational projects are
developed in collaboration with other healthcare professionals and the affected population,
rather than by community health nurses alone. Community engagement leads to the
development of culturally sensitive and appropriate educational projects that are accepted
to members of any population. Community engagement also strengthens relationships and
connections with healthcare providers, thus creating a greater sense of community.
Utilizing the collaborative effort of healthcare professionals, facilities, organizations, and
service providers in community engagement enhances health outcomes. Community health
nurses who partner with local health departments, home health agencies, schools,
community centers, volunteer organizations, adult daycare providers, and others is
essential to creating a community engagement strategy. In this course you will be
conducting an educational presentation in the community. In this first module you will
determine your site for the presentation. PLEASE NOTE: The site must be in community.
Your presentation cannot be delivered to healthcare professionals or in the hospital setting
or during your personal work hours. Learning Materials Clark, M. J. (2015). Population and

Form Thank you for allowing: (student’s name) enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in
Nursing (BSN) program at Aspen University to complete their Community Health Nursing
Project experience at your organization. The project experiences the student will obtain in
your organization are of critical importance to a successful learning experience in this
course. Students need the “real life” experience to demonstrate competency in the
successful implementation of a community health nursing educational project. This project
experience provides opportunities where the student can acquire knowledge, advance
skills, and observe the modeling of professional behaviors. Without your willingness to
participate, it would be impossible to replicate the experiences the student needs to be
successful. The project setting is where synthesis of concepts and application of principles
of epidemiology, research and critical thinking occur. Please sign this form below, as
acknowledgement and acceptance that our student can complete their teaching project at
your organization or facility. Again, many thanks to you!

The project experiences the student will obtain in your organization are of critical importance to a successful learning experience in this course. Students need the “real life” experience to demonstrate competency in the successful implementation of a community health nursing educational project. This project experience provides opportunities where the student can acquire knowledge, advance skills, and observe the modeling of professional behaviors. Without your willingness to participate, it would be impossible to replicate the experiences the student needs to be successful. The project setting is where synthesis of concepts and application of principles of epidemiology, research and critical thinking occur. Please sign this form below, as acknowledgement and acceptance that our student can complete their teaching project at your organization or facility. Again, many thanks to you! _____________________________________________ Signature _____________________________________________ Title _____________________________________________ Organization or Facility _____________________________________________ Date Module 1: Community Educational Project Site Selection and Letter of Permission Goals After completing this module, you will be able to do the following: Identify the rationale for engaging and collaborating with healthcare professionals and community members in developing an educational project Explain the development of a comprehensive community engagement strategy Overview Most community educational projects are developed in collaboration with other healthcare professionals and the affected population, rather than by community health nurses alone.
