GINGER
 Commonly known as ‘ginger root’
 Ginger is a spice that contains antioxidants such as gingerols and
zingerone. These compounds provide relief for many issues that
involve pain, inflammation, digestive disorders, nausea and motion
sickness.
 It also has the ability to fight ovarian cancer and colon cancer.
 Ginger produces reduced side effects from chemotherapy.
 Ginger can be taken in tablet form or powder, as a tea, as fresh or dried
ginger root or topically as a pack or poultice. If you use ginger as a
natural remedy, in general, your ginger intake should not exceed four
grams daily.Use fresh ginger over dried ginger when possible to
benefit from the higher gingerol content. Fresh ginger root should be
firm, smooth, and free from bruises. The centre of the ginger root is the
most potent. Unpeeled fresh ginger can be stored in the refrigerator for
up to three weeks. Dried ginger should be kept in a tightly sealed glass
container in a dry, cool, and dark place.
GARLIC
 Garlic contains antioxidants.
 As you get old harmful particles known as free radicals build up in
your body. These radicals contribute to heart disease, cancer,
alzheimer’s disease.
 Garlic helps to prevent ‘common cold’.
 Garlic may also be used to treat ringworm and athlete’s foot.
 Garlic supplements are made from whole fresh garlic, dried, or
freeze-dried garlic, garlic oil, and aged garlic extracts.
 Not all garlic contains the same amount of active ingredients. It is
important to read the label carefully. To get the most benefit, use
standardized garlic products. Also, follow the directions of a health
care provider who is experienced in herbal medicine.
