Adapting and adopting sound approval techniques that work
in Not For Profit Organizations

Board members and leaders of any organization are entitled
to a clear and thorough account of an opportunity before
being asked for their approval to deploy resources. While
defining how to develop and deliver those insights is critical,
the challenge is multiplied within Not For Profit
organizations:
    • Profit is no longer the primary measure of value
    • Staff & volunteer dynamics are truly different
    • Implications of decisions often have severe impacts on
       the most vulnerable in our communities

Understandably, many in the nonprofit community bristle
when “business” is applied to their missions. Business tools
are often clumsily forced upon nonprofits with disastrous
results. Even so, sensible business disciplines for developing
and evaluating proposals can be successfully adapted for the
executives and boards of Not For Profit organizations.
