 Mathematics is the science that deals with the
logic of shape, quantity and arrangement.
 Math is all around us, in everything we do.
 It is the building block for everything in our
daily lives, including mobile devices,
architecture (ancient and modern), art,
money, engineering, and even sports.
 Careless Errors
 Computational Errors
 Conceptual Errors
 Careless errors occur simple because they are
not playing attention or are working too fast.
1. Copying the problem wrong to begin with.
2. Writing a wrong number.
3. Dropping a negative sign.
4. Sloppy handwriting.
 The second type of mistake is computational.
This means somewhere in process they
incorrectly added,subtraction,multiplied or
divided.
 Conceptual errors occur because kids have
misunderstood the underling concept or have
used incorrect logic.
 4-2=2
 2-4= -2
 +4+2=+6
 -4-2=-6
 -5*(+2)=(-5)*(+2)=-10
 -5*(+2)=(-5)*(-2)=+10

 Solve 43 = 4 × 3
 Correct: 43 = 4 × 4 × 4
 solve-(3)2 = -3 × -3 = 9
 Correct: -(3 × 3) = -9
 Incorrect: 8/0
 = 0
 Correct: 8/0
 = No answer!

  • 3.  Mathematics is the science that deals with the logic of shape, quantity and arrangement.  Math is all around us, in everything we do.  It is the building block for everything in our daily lives, including mobile devices, architecture (ancient and modern), art, money, engineering, and even sports.

  • 5.  Careless errors occur simple because they are not playing attention or are working too fast. 1. Copying the problem wrong to begin with. 2. Writing a wrong number. 3. Dropping a negative sign. 4. Sloppy handwriting.
  • 6.  The second type of mistake is computational. This means somewhere in process they incorrectly added,subtraction,multiplied or divided.
  • 7.  Conceptual errors occur because kids have misunderstood the underling concept or have used incorrect logic.
