The Spectacle Theatre Costumes
There are several elements in a play that make it successful. These elements consist of the writer s
plot, theme, characters, dialogue, music and the Spectacle . The Spectacle refers to the visual
elements that make up a play: sets, costumes and special effects. Although costumes are only one
small component in a play, I believe they are very imperative for the overall feel of the audience.
The costumes worn by the performers portray the personality of the character along with the period
of timeof the play. According to a Canadian designer, Judith Bowden, The main job of costume
design in a production is to provide physical and emotional support to every actor through the
clothinghe or she will wear to enhance characterization ( The costumes designers role ). There is an
extensive history of Costume design in Theater, an each century has importance.
Theatre design has believed to be created from the ancient Greeks. There costumes varied because
of how they grew up living in a ritualized style of theatre. Their costumes consisted of face masks,
face painting s, and even full body paintings. They wore these design s to ... Show more content on

The clothing will accurately reflect the clothing of the appropriate time in history. Costumes are
created for movement. Allowing actors to raise their arms without moving the entire costume or
being able to kick without ripping a seam. The costumes are constructed to be strong enough to
endure the enormous amount of performances for months or even a year. Costumes today are
made from natural fibers like cotton, linen, silk and wool. Styles of costumes design will continue
to go in and out, however, the principle behind costumes remains endless. As Robert Edmond
Jones wrote in 1941, A stage costume is a creation of the theater. Its quality is purely theatrical and
taken outside the theater it loses its magic at once. It dies as a plant dies when uprooted

Pet Abandonment In The Dog
A boiling, muggy, day where even bacon fries on the sidewalk. You look out your window, and
see a bird, a sneaker, and, a puppy? But, this is not your average spotless, chubby puppy. This
puppy is skinny, and dirty, barely able to lift its front small paws, on the scorching sidewalk. This
puppy is abandoned. Next you see a car, a beautiful shimmering white, the sun s rays bouncing off
the car, blind your eyes just as a girl jumps out. She walks over to the dogslowly, then gently she
leads him into the back of their van and they are gone. Who was that girl you wonder. Why was
that dog just roaming on the streets? Why would anyone just abandon their poor pup? What can I
do to stop this?
Pet abandonment is a very severe and very important ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Community Acquired Pneumonia Essay
According to the Center for Disease Control, pneumonia is considered the leading cause of death of
children less than five years old. However, there is a way to reduce the chance of contacting this
disease. A vaccine called Pneumococcal is available for people to take (Centers for Disease Control,
2014). There is not only one type of pneumonia. The type of pneumonia is based upon the way the
patient contacted the pneumonia. The following are the different types of pneumonia: Community
Acquired, Hospital Acquired, Health Care associated, Aspiration, and atypical (National Heart,
Lung, and Blood Institute, 2011). What is pneumonia? Pneumonia is an infection that occurs within

Chest xray can be used but only in severe cases. There are risks to exposing children to radiation.
Antibiotics should be the first choice of medicine that is given to a child with community
acquired pneumonia. Amoxicillin is the antibiotic of choice for those with this infection. If the
amoxicillin does not seem to be helping, the doctor will probably prescribe a different type of
antibiotic like ceftriaxone. Pneumonia may be difficult to treat once acquired but there are
several things a person can do to prevent the infection. Oral care and hygiene are very important
factors to reduce the chance of becoming infected. The patient or patient s caregiver should be
warned about the effects of smoking to the lungs and the increased risk of developing pneumonia.
There are specific risk factors that may informative about their likelihood of developing
pneumonia. Age is a major risk factor for pneumonia, those over 70 years old or under five years
old are considered at risk populations. People who have other chronic or terminal diseases are at
risk due to an immunocompromised immune system. Smoking also increases the chance that
someone will contact an infection (Goss, 2009, p.

The Red Flags And Audit Risk Factors
Introduction
The first part identifies and analyses key red flags from the case. The section continues with ethical
issues, which are further explained by the fraud triangle framework and continues with
independency issues. Part 2 introduces alternative courses of action by Martirossian and continues
with an analysis of his role. The section concludes with a personal choice of favorable alternatives.
Finally, the last section concludes the main aspects.

1.1Red Flags and Audit Risk Factors
AMRE s executives had incentives to keep the stock price on a high level
The negative profit projections could have triggered a pressure situation for the executives, thus
Koornhof and Du Plessis (2000) identified that an increasing financial pressure on a company s
management to report favourable results on a constant basis is the main reason for deliberately
misstating financial statements. Furthermore, companies which are facing financial distress are
more likely to commit fraud (Albrecht et al., 2012, p. 147).
According to AICPA AU Section 314 (2006), it is important for Price Waterhouse to understand the
entity and its environment, in order to evaluate risks of material misstatement. Furthermore, it is
their legal obligation (Arens et al., 2012, p. 131).
In the audit planning stage, Price Waterhouse could have conducted analytical procedures, in order
to compare the entity s financial information with anticipated results of AMRE, such as budgets or
forecasts (AICPA, AU C

Culture Is A Sum Of Different Human Activities
According to The Oxford Pocket Dictionary of Current English Online, culture is [t]he customs,
arts, social institutions, and achievements of a particular nation, people, or other social group (
Culture ). Instead, according to E.B. Taylor, the first professional anthropologist, culture is that
complex whole which included knowledge, belief, arts, morals, law, custom, and any other
capabilities and habits acquired by man as a member of society ( qtd. in Scupin 42).
Both definitions imply that culture is a sum of different human activities. Both definitions imply that
culture is a sum of habitual activities transmitted from one individual to another through repetition
and patterns custom and habits. In addition, both definitions imply that culture affects human
behavior and social interaction belief, achievements, morals, law, social institution.
Nonetheless, the two definitions have different recipients of culture. The Oxford Pocket
Dictionary of Current English Online describes culture as a set of different human activities of a
particular nation, people, or other social group ( Culture ).Instead, for E.B. Taylor, culture is
acquired by man as a member of society (qtd. In Scupin 42).
While The Oxford Pocket Dictionary of Current English Online defines culture as something related
to different social groups, people or nations and therefore consider the existence of multiple cultures
independent and yet connected to one another, Taylor defines culture as something

Notes On 9 Spiritual Gifts Essay
IIntroduction
God s love shown brilliantly, when he robed himself in flesh, bled, died on the cross and rose
again that we may have salvation. I always think of the old hymn When he was on the cross I
was on his mind . No longer under the Law of Moses, or the dispensation of the law, but now
under Grace. Once salvation is complete we begin to further our relationship into the Spiritual
Gifts. Matthew 7:11 KJV If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children,
how much more shall your father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask? With 9
spiritual gifts, God would enable us with power and authority to be able to fulfill our purpose here
on earth. Wisdom, Knowledge, Faith, Healing, Miracles, Prophecy, Discernment, Tongues and
Interpretation of Tongues. With the Baptism of the Spirit and the Spiritual Gifts, God mad sure his
people were well equipped.
II. Baptism of the Holy Spirit
One important fact about the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is that it is a gift. It s not something we
earn, with merit or even personal righteousness. We in our selves are never upright, good or
righteous enough to earn the Baptism of the Spirit. In the same way we would receive a gift on
Christmas day from our parents, we didn t earn that gift but they love us and give us gifts of
love. The Baptism of the Spirit is not to be earned, but received from a loving father. Therefore
all that is required of us is to receive it. The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is

Exercise is done by majority of people in order to improve one s health and fitness. Everyone is

Strength Of Women In The Bean Trees
The strength of the female population is constantly increasing. Women are gaining the courage to
be stronger and more independent. Women are proving that they are just as strong as men, they are
becoming CEO s and running for president. Barbara Kingsolver wrote these three main supporting
characters going through difficult events, but making it through them with the strength they have
as single females. The female strength in these three women is one of the main themes in the book
The Bean Treesby Barbara Kingsolver.

Strength is really hard to obtain with a lack of confidence. Lou Ann is upset with herself so Taylor
tries to make her feel better, If you say one more word about being fat I m going to stick my fingers

Angel could ever be. Even if what Taylor does isn t the most supportive, just being there for
someone is really all that s needed. When Esperanza tries to kill herself, Taylor sits with her. She
doesn t do much but just being there is enough support for Esperanza. Taylor just has to be there
with intentions to support and it would make all the difference. Support isn t just comforting by
speaking to them, but also being there to help in a time of need. Taylor takes Esperanza and
Estevan to Oklahoma, to go to the Cherokee nation. That s the most helpful and supportive thing
Taylor could do for them. One of the main personality traits from Taylor is the empowerment she
gives to others and the strength she shows
The females in The Bean Trees are so strong and that s a main theme that Barbara Kingsolver
portrays in the book. Lou Ann becomes so strong as the book progresses, she even supports
Taylor who supported her the most. Taylor and Mattie are even willing to break the law in order
to support others. Now that females are getting stronger and feminism is such an important topic, it
s good to read about strong females. It helps recognize how much females are doing especially to

Company History
First getting its corporate bearings on July 13, 1937 in Winston Salem, North Carolina, Krispy
Kreme Doughnuts have seen the many stages of financial gain and loss. Through the 1930 s and
1940 s the company saw regional growth and by the late 1950 s Krispy Kreme had opened 29 shops
in 12 states. 1960 marked an era where management Vernon Rudolph and Mike Harding began to
emphasize corporate standardization through its brand image. All Krispy Kreme shops were made
with a green roof, a red glazed brick exterior, a viewing window inside, an overhead conveyer for
doughnut production, and bar stools. Original owner Vernon Rudolph in 1973, so... Show more

management expressed confidence in their company s potential. However, the management failed
to foresee the future.
The Yeast Fails to Rise (Weaknesses)
The second half of 2004 failed to meet the managements expectations made earlier in the year.
The company estimated diluted earnings per share of $1.16 for fiscal 2005; actual diluted
earnings were $0.93. The company expected sales would increase 25% in fiscal 2005; actual
systemwide sales increased 14.8%. The company divested the recently acquired Montana Mills
operation. It also closed six underperforming factory stores. In the hours following the
announcement of the financial loss, the company s stock dropped 20%. On May 25, 2004,
Krispy Kreme reported a $24.4 million loss for the first quarter of fiscal 2005. According to the
company, the poor performance was because of trendy low carb diets, and a $34 million write off
of its investment in Montana Mills. The stock was now down 37%. To make matters worse, the
company announced that the SEC was investigated shady accounting practices due to franchise
buybacks.

Imperialism In Japan
I am interested the Imperialism because I thought it was a very important theory in Japan. The
imperialism included the features of extreme nationalism and militarism. The result of spread of
imperialism in Japan was the loyalty of Japanese toward government was extremely high. They
were willing to use their life to help the country. In fact, it was definitely one of the reasons that
cause the strong and hard to defeat of Japan in the WWII. Even at now, there are imperialists in
Japan. Their attitudes are still anti Chinese. There are actually some anti Chinese protests in Japan
nowadays too. Moreover, because of the rapid development of both China and Japan, there are
some conflicts between two countries. The imperialists stated Japan should show strong attitude in
the conflicts of oil field and Diaoyu Island. So, I want to know how the militarism actually
affected the Sino Japanese relationship in the modern period. In fact, after the Second World War,
the Sino Japanese relationship had some improvement. There were some conference and statements
signed between Japan and China. In 1972, there was a Japan China Joint Statement which states
that Japan keenly feels responsibility for and deeply reflects upon the losses inflicted on the
people of China during the war. Moreover, Emperor Akihito s visit to China and said In... Show

Lincoln, Grant, And Whitman
Lincoln, Grant, and Whitman Abraham Lincoln, Ulysses S. Grant, and Walt Whitman all represent
a period of time in which the United States was embroiled in turmoil. From the year 1861 to 1865,
the Union army from the North battled the Confederacy of the South, and when it came to an end
at the Appomattox Courthouse, over 620,000 men had lost their lives (Civil War Casualties, n.d.).
President Abraham Lincolnhad finally found a general he could trust in Ulysses S. Grant, who had
forced the surrender of Robert E. Leeand the Confederate army. Walt Whitman would live the Civil
War life as the most influential author and poet of the times. These men represent three of the most
important figures of the Civil War.

Lincoln considered his father a very stern man, and he did not find much favor in him (Miller

(Miller Center, n.d.).
When Abraham was nine years old, his mother died and soon after his father remarried. The young
Abraham bonded with his new step mother, Sarah Johnston who encouraged his education and
frequently defended him against his father in arguments (Miller Center, n.d.). The rural life Lincoln
lived involved much labor, including farm chores, splitting fence rails and working the land
(Abraham Lincoln, n.d.). Lincoln had a voracious appetite for attaining knowledge, and often read
books late into the night, utilizing any free time he had remaining.
Political Career After leaving home, the six foot four Lincoln stood out in his new home of
New Salem, Illinois. He soon began work at the local general store as a clerk, and made himself
known to the townspeople by feats of strength by felling trees and splitting fence rails as he had

for the town, he knew the community quite well. Lincoln s ability to read and write made him
quite popular with the less literate people in New Salem (Miller Center, n.d.). Only

The Economist said the ability to breed genetically modified mice that can be used to study the
genetic basis of diseases including caner, Parkinson s and Alzheimer s has boosted the total
number of experiments almost every year (Britain: Tweaking the Experiments; Animal Testing).
This shows that with the number of experiments increasing the society should have more
information on how to solve the quest in curing these diseases or solution on illnesses. Also
having experiments results could help resolve other illnesses or diseases when the society comes
across to a new disease or illness. Maybe scientists and researcher would not need to more
experiments on animals because they could go back to the results that they already have in hands.
Scientists and researcher should always have these in records. In the Times in London, Devlin said
Testing on animals has been involved in almost every medical treatment that is available today
antibiotics, insulin, cancer drugs, heart surgery and organ transplantation (Devlin). Most medical
treatments would not exist today if society did not exercise the use of animal testing. Animal
testing has brought society this far within the medical industry. If society did not use animals for
testing, society would not be anywhere close in the medical industry as society is as of now.
Thinking back now, what would happen if the society never used animals for research or as test
subjects, how many people would be

Introduction
The purpose of this paper is to provide an analysis of the immigration experience of Calvin who
came to Canada from Hong Kong in 1997 in order to avoid the negative repressions of the
transition from British to Chinese rule. Sociologists that have been read for this class claim or
found that about international migration is a combination of micro and macro as well as push
and pull factors. For this paper, the neoclassical model, as discussed by Massey et al, will be
discussed as it focuses more on the individual cost benefit analysis that compelled Calvin s family
to come to Canada than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is for this reason that the macro element of the neoclassical model is less useful but nevertheless
warrants mention. It involves finding equilibrium among different markets but Calvin s situation
has more to do with the particular situation in Hong Kong and the family s perceived advantages of
traveling to Canada. For instance, at the micro level, notes from Session 2 indicate that migration is
caused by rational cost/benefit analysis of individual actors and expected destination earnings
(observed earnins x probability of employment) в†’ maximizing returns to human capital . While it
was not only employment option alone that motivated the decision; indeed, for Calvin the calculus
significantly involved education, but overall the decision had to do with perceived income. There
was less concern with loss of freedom, from what Calvin said in the interview, then there was with
reduced economic opportunities. It would be prudent at this point to investigate the broader social
context of migration from Hong Kong that influenced his migration/integration experience.
According to Chu (2013), In 1995, Fortune wrote a cover story for its international edition entitled
The Death of Hong Kong, claiming that the naked truth about Hong Kong s future can be summed
up in two words: Its over.

Value Of A Homeless Person
Chancellor Champ Mrs. Alexander English 12 February 26, 2017 How life should be valued
The politician or a homeless person, who should be valued more? To me, there are people that
should be valued more than others. Should the president suddenly pass than his/her nation could
be plunged into chaos. He/she is more valuable and should always be be more valued than a
homeless person. A homeless person, whether good or bad were to pass away, then he/she
would effect little in the greater nation. This is the cold hard truth. Here are 3 important reasons
to discuss this and how they factor in how a person should be valued. One important reason
which determines a person s value, is simply a person s importance. Now throughout human
history there have always been those who have led us, who were our leaders. These are our
monarchs, presidents or other politicians who have run the day to day affairs to running a nation.
The leader rules over his/her citizens or subjects with their own roles with varying levels of
importance to society. Priest s who tend to the spiritual needs of a population. Doctors who see to
the physical health needs of a population. Today rich entrepreneurs and tycoon s play major roles
in the capitalist economy the United States. But the most important person in any nation is its

Gay Rights And Social Discrimination On College Campuses
While many Christians tend to belong to a traditional , or conservative, school of thought and
beliefs, a subset of more liberal Christians count themselves as a sizable minority of their
communities. Therefore, there exists a sizable population on campus who follow a more
progressive system of beliefs: a support of gay rights, forward thoughts on female roles in the
Church, and other thoughts which fall more in the Left end of the political spectrum. These are the
voices on college campuses which find themselves aligning with, and protecting, their fellow peers
of non heterosexual orientations.
Many of the religiously liberal find themselves in an uphold battle within their own communities
when it comes to collegiate discriminatory policies and social discrimination of others against the
LGBT community. Most justify their views, beliefs, and support to fellow Christians by
referencing the unconditional love of God and the supremacy of love over other biblical laws.
This is not without Church support, as Pope Francis recently mused, If someone is gay and he
searches for the Lord and has good will, who am I to judge? (Donadio). In essence, Pope Francis
removes himself from discriminating and distances himself from conservative anti LGBT beliefs,
leaving the judgments of religion to God himself. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Nerds and nerd culture has been very prominent through the decades. From the 1970s to the
present they have been represented through movies, TV shows and live events; such as, Comic
con. They have predominantly been depicted as featuring characteristics in which other
individuals usually stray from in order to better fit in with society; for example, wearing braces,
dorky glasses, geeky hair cut, and usual nerd attire. Furthermore, nerds have been depicted in
popular media as individuals who lack popularity and possess an above average intelligence. The
character of Steve Urkel is a good representation of nerds in popular media because he displays
almost all of the nerdy characteristics such as the nerdy glasses and clothing. Furthermore,... Show

But, modern society has taken nerd culture and appropriated it to be seen as something cool and
trendy. Popular culture has adapted and appropriated nerd culture. Super hero movies, and
television have taken nerd culture into a status were it is the popular culture. The Big Bang
Theory is a prime example of nerd culture being appropriated by pop media. The actors in the
show play nerds when they are not necessarily ones, and they popularize the culture in which they
are appropriating. A similar situation would be Weird Al Yankovic; he is a musician who parodies
music by popular artists and makes the original music into something comical. This is apparent by
the music video White Nerdy in which he is appropriating nerds and their culture. Influences such
as these have caused the popularity of nerd culture to become a widespread phenomenon. The
appropriation of nerd culture by modern mainstream culture has removed the negative appeal of
nerd culture; thus, having a positive affect which nerd culture more enticing to individuals. Nerd
culture has been predominant within the recent decades and such had gradually begun to receive a
great following. But, the way people see nerd culture today is vastly different then what it was seen
as before the 21st century. Modern culture appropriates nerd culture and enhances it into something
in which the individuals are not necessarily ousted or shunned by society. Instead modern culture
has taken nerd

Adelaide s Beaches Analysis
The coast is the buffer between terrestrial land and the marine, it is the boundary of where land
meets water which is known as the coastline. Tides, waves and currents are what help form
coastlines. However, when waves meet or crash on the shore, they erode the land, leaving behind
tiny parts of the sea such as shells, seaweed and marine life. Although, over the past 30 years
central beaches are continually eroding because sand is pushed along the coastby waves. (BAC
Australia, n.d) Coastlines are badly affected by erosion and The Coast Protection Board is urgently
needed to protect and manage Adelaide s beaches. Without them managing the beaches, several of
Adelaide s southern metropolitan beaches will be left with very little sand on them.... Show more

Geological history has ancient records of Australia being connected to Antarctica land mass,
being apart of Gondwanaland. This mass of land was mainly above sea level, which began to
change due to the tertiary period because of extreme climates and erosion. Australia was separated
from Gondwanaland approximately 55 million years ago. (Department for environmental heritage
and Aboriginal Affairs, n.d) The separation of the continents occurred along the continent that is
now known as the southern boundary. (ibid) The what seems like simple separation of land
caused huge movements and resurfaced a lot of land. For example, the St Vincent basin which is
located north/south of Australia was dramatically changed and formed step able rocks, and the
Adelaide hills were also formed. Sea levels were also dramatically sunken 120 meters below the
average level than what sea levels show today. In the 21st century the movements still exist and
happen daily, however, that are at a very slow rate.

Not an Ayn Rand Essay
The fiction novel, The Fountainhead, by Ayn Rand is based off of her philosophy of Objectivism.
Ayn Rand defines and separates her philosophy of Objectivism into four different and distinct
parts. The first part Ayn Rand explains is Metaphysics. Metaphysics is an objective reality where
you only accept facts as reality and not fantasies or desires. The next part of Objectivismis
Epistemology, which is reasoning by perceiving reality by using knowledge or facts as your
guide. The third part is Ethics and self interest. The final part of Objectivism is laissez faire
capitalism, which is equal trade while the government acts as a police force only. The third part of

When Ayn Rand wrote The Fountainhead, she intended to keep the syntax simple so readers could
get an understanding of Objectivism and individualism. We can clearly see that the protagonist,
Howard Roark, is portrayed as an objectivist and individualist, who also rejects the worst of social
standards, while Lois Cook is seen as a radical, who objects the best of social standards.
When we go even further into The Fountainhead, we discover that Howard Roark loves his type
of modernistic design in architecture rather than referring to the older and more identifiable
types of architecture from history, such as Greek or Roman architecture. Because he prefers to
modernize his own designs, he is suspended from Stanton s institute of technology and has been
removed from several jobs. Roark was offered a job to build a new bank, but he won t change
any of his own designs. The worst part about Howard Roark s out of luck situation is that his
designs are brilliant.Even Peter Keating refers to Howard Roark in needs of assistance, because
Howard Roark s designs are wonderful and unique to the eyes of people. Even then, when
Howard Roark isn t given credit for designing the buildings, credit was all given to Keating, who
didn t have enough faith for himself to, at the least, attempt to create his own architectural designs.
While we continue to look at Howard Roark, we can see that while Ayn Rand created Howard
Roark, he stays as his own

Spanish Cloister
Robert Browning s Soliloquy of a Spanish Cloister reflects a resentful monk who unreasonably
despises his fellow monk, Brother Lawrence. He finds pleasure in physical appearance than on a
spiritual level. He considerably labels himself as a role model of righteousness while wrongly
condemning Brother Lawrence for his wrongdoings. In reality, the speaker ends up revealing his
confessions by attempting to accuse the monk of his own faults. One may wonder about the malice
that the speaker has towards Brother Lawrence. Could it be because he is simply jealous, or is he
insecure? The speaker finds that the more he accentuates the faults of Brother Lawrence, the more
good that he becomes. Although the poem has a lighthearted demeanor, it is a... Show more content

it is a betrayal of God. His malice becomes his self righteousness because he wants no one but

African Americans Attitudes Towards Police Essay
African Americans Attitudes towards Police
The George Washington University
Abstract
Past experiences have shown that African Americans tend to have a more hostile relationship with
police officers than other races. Research from multiple scholars confirms that there is in fact a
correlation between a person s race and the attitude they have towards officers. This experiment
aims to verify that race is responsible for this difference in attitude. A survey containing multiple
demographic questions and inquiries about attitudes and reactions to police officers was distributed
to my Research Methods class as well as my family and friends. The results of this ... Show more

By using data from the BJS Police Public Contact Survey, the researchers found that officer race
is an important factor in how Blacks and Latinos recognize officers (Cochran Warren, 2012).
They were more likely to trust minority police than white ones. Christopher Huggins looked into
citizen reports of police behavior during traffic stops in an effort to understand how officer and
citizen race can influence reports of impropriety. Through analyzing 6,301 citizen reports of
traffic encounters with police researchers discovered that African Americans are less likely than
whites to report proper police behavior when they encounter officers of any race (Huggins,
2012). Han Toch s book, Volatile Scenarios in the Ghetto (2012), discusses the findings of the
Kerner Commission, an 11 member committee made to investigate the causes of race riots in the
1960s, and what exactly these findings convey. According to Toch s book, the Kerner
Commission found that race riots took place in areas where a large number of police officers had
contact with the public (2012). The Commission mentioned that the targeting of blacks,
particularly black men, sparked resistance and hostility towards the officers (Toch, 2012). The
over aggression of some officers also led to a widespread distrust of police by the African
American community, which was a building block in a lot of race riots. In general the combination
of targeting and unnecessary

65% of E rated video games have some sort of violence included in them. What affects can video
games have on the growth and development of young children? Video games are very popular in
first world countries, so it is not very uncommon today to see a young child playing a video game
they really should not be. Video games are rated eC for early childhood, E for everyone, E +10
for everyone 10 and older, T for Teen, M for Mature, and Ao for Adult only. These ratings are to
keep parents aware of the content in the video games they are buying for their children. But
somehow there are still 6 year olds playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, and just buy the name
you can tell that it is positively. But there is a whole industry for video games and many
companies for video games. So plenty of jobs have been created for video games, like designers,
artists/animators, music II. ESRB (The Entertainment Software Rating Board) is a company in
America that provides information the contents in video games. ESRB tests all video games that

Archy In Gallipoli
Intro: in the film Gallipoli by peter weir uses characters Billy, Barney, Snowy and Archy to
illustrate the thoughts of young Australians at this time. E.g. War was a great escapade not to be
missed out on. The director shows this to us by bringing us to Australia and showing how the
young Australians were eager to see new things. And then again in Egypt by making it look like so
much fun. But when the filmcomes to the last section peter weir shows the harsh brutality of war.
Body1: peter weir shows the young Australians exited to head off to war from Australia. The
Director shows this with Billy, Barney, Snowy catching a train off to Perth to sign up and Archy
thinking that war is amazing and that it s worth leaving his home and family for an adventure of a
lifetime. After A race Archy Is turned down by the light horse in his community thanks to Les

Egypt peter weir also shows the soldiers mock the British as the Australians found them to be quite

The price for the 2010 season pass is around $75 once the season begins, but if purchased before

Thomas Paine The Crisis No. 1
The Revolutionary Era was a turbulent time in American History. The voices of revolution rang
from all over the colonies. King George III was seen as a tyrant, Britain s taxes were oppressing,
and the colonist s sought political freedom at last. However, this movement towards freedom did
not spur overnight. Leaders such as Thomas Jefferson and Thomas Paine used their skills as an
author and orator to persuade others to join the revolution. Thomas Paine s The Crisis No. 1
boosted soldier s morale and urged them to continue bravely in their fight against Britain.
Thomas Jefferson s Declaration of Independence formally removed Great Britain from their rule
over the colonies. Jefferson used powerful and moving statements to list the reasons for the
colonies separation. Although Paine and Jefferson s writing aided in the persuasion of political
leaders; many colonists were not able to read these powerful political works. Had the writing of
Paine and Jefferson been easily accessible for colonists, Paine s The Crisis No. 1. would have
caused a greater effect on the colonists perspectives than Jefferson s Declaration of Independence.
During the American Revolution, morale was low and many colonists wanted to give up their fight
against the British and return home. General George Washington wanted to encourage his troops to
remain strong in their fight. In order to do this, General Washington had Thomas Paine s The
Crisis No. 1. read to his soldiers. Thomas Paine wrote The Crisis

In the same fashion that Elvis defined Rock n Roll; Tupac Shakur defined the hip hop music
scene, as we know it today. What made Tupac (also known as 2Pac, or Makaveli) so special were
his enormous talent, his on screen friendly looks, and the sense that he was real and talked the

originally from Brooklyn, New York. Tupac spent a lot of time moving around as he was growing

Change Blindness And Its Effects On Blindness
Many studies and experiments have been conducted to explain why change blindness occurs and in
what situations is change blindness more likely to occur. Literature on change blindness is quite
extensive, as it is an emerging area in psychology. A number of researchers have conducted
experiments into the key areas where change blindnesshas been found to cause consequential
outcomes. These areas include the effects of changeblindness on eye witness testimonies, driving
ability, and effects on autism. Literature on change blindness places an emphasis on methodology
and this literature review will focus primarily on this. According to Simons Levin (1998) change
blindness is the phenomenon that occurs when a person fails to detect large changes between one
viewed scene and another. Recent studies show similar findings and evidence as to the original
literature into change blindness. As stated by Rensink, 2002 (as cited in Davies Hone, 2007),
change blindness has been the subject of intensive research in recent years beginning with studies in
which researchers manipulated the content of abstract scenes.
Researchers do differ on their perspectives on change blindness depending upon their method
approach and background or field; however literature is largely in an agreed consensus as to what
change blindness is and its effects on attention. Change blindness is studied by using the
methodology of change detection, which is where participants are shown two stimuli that are

The Decline Of Civility Within The Workplace
The question was asked, Do manners matter? The Golden Rule states: do to others what you
would want them to do to you. The decline of civility in the workplace has been on the rise.
Morals are still at the conclusion that this isn t at any value of importance (Martin). Society
assumes that one is born with etiquettes and not taught. Judith Martin states that the Original
Innocence is the idea that people are born naturally good but corrupted by civilization (Martin).
According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, the definition of civility is polite, reasonable, and
respectful behavior. Incivility is an issue for many. Researcher Jeannie Trudel of Indiana
Wesleyan University in Marion says that Seventy five percent to eighty percent of people have
experienced incivility (Mattice). Employees, bosses, and even family members are affected by
one s reaction to incivility. The lack of discipline and the absences of manners is slowly creating
a problem in today s work society due to need of communication (Martin). Today s work society
has targeted hate for one another. It is typically causing many to regret their choice of profession;
constantly, dreading the idea to perform to the expected. If we are going to eliminate the cause of
rude behavior and the effect of rude behavior in the workplace, each company should evaluate their
policy s, discuss proper expectations, and provide trainings. The cause of uncivil actions can take a
dramatic toll on any workplace.

Summary of Deborah Tannen s the Argument Culture Essay
Have we become a world that has forgotten how to listen and debate? Why are people so quick to
argue? Everyone wants to prove their point these days. In The Argument Culture, Deborah Tannen
discusses how today s society no longer honors the noble American tradition of debate. She
explains how we no longer want to take the time to listen to both sides and definitely not all sides
of an issue. We have become a society that would rather fight and argue, often to the point of
violence. The war on drugs, the war on cancer, the battle of the sexes, politicians turf battles in the
argumentculture war metaphors pervade our talk and shape our thinking, affirms Tannen. We
approach the world in an argumentative frame of mind. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sadly, the more violent the argument is the more people want to watch it. Tannen believes that
much of this breakdown is caused by the lack of people interacting face to face. She feels that our
high tech world infused with social networking, email, cell phones, texting and more has given
people a way to communicate without actually connecting with each other. The proliferation and
increasing portability of technology isolates people in a bubble warns Tannen. The Argument
Culture shapes who we are and has a defining impact on our lives and on our culture. She believes
it causes us to distort facts.
As an example she cites the Nancy Kerrigan Tonya Harding story. After the original attack on
Kerrigan s knee, news stories focused on the rivalry between the two skaters instead of portraying
Kerrigan as the victim of the attack. Tannen also says it causes us to waste valuable time, as she
cites the case of scientist Robert Gallo, who co discovered the Aids virus. He was the object of a
groundless four year investigation into allegations he had stolen the virus from another scientist. He
was exonerated, but the toll was enormous. In his words, These were the most painful and horrible
years of my life. So, ultimately Gallo spent four years fighting accusations when he could have been
fighting AIDS. Tannen also states that it limits our thinking and encourages us to lie. Military
metaphors train us to think about and see everything in terms

the Blue Ridge region, especially considering how it doesn t have very many famous attractions,
I assure you that the Blue Ridge is absolutely perfect. So, without further ado, I present to you
some of the many reasons why the Blue Ridge should be highly regarded as a choice of location

One reason for this is the many folds in the landscape almost too many. This would cause
landscapers to survey the land, and it would most likely be expensive to cut a piece of flat land
into the surfaces of the many hills and mountains. The final reason this region isn t an ideal place
for an amusement park is due to its common erosion. If the land beneath the amusement park was
somehow weathered and eroded, it could put people and the economy of Georgia on the line.
Another region relatively close to the Blue Ridge, the Appalachian Plateau, is a very nice place
with the TAG corner and other famous sites, but many reasons would impair the park s success.
First of all, there are many fossils underground, meaning that an amusement park could possibly
erase history and prevent certain discoveries from occurring. Most fossils also have a lot of
limestone, meaning that the ground water is slightly acidic. This would make refreshments slightly
unhealthy for the average consumer. Also, with acidic groundwater comes acidic soil, making it
bad for crops and those who ingest

The Destruction of Dignity
Acclaimed writer , Dave Eggers, in his riveting novel Zeitoun retells the story of a New Orleans
painter as he finds himself in the city following Hurricane Katrina. Throughout his harrowing
journey throughout the aftermath, Eggers exhibits the horrifying results a disaster can have on the
dignity of victims. There are countless examples throughout the novel of those who have been
dispossessed of their dignity and humanity, and there is no better example than that of Zeitoun
himself. Egger s portrayal of the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina demonstrates the devastating effect

It defied belief. (Eggers, 101) The disregard of Zeitoun s pleas by those on the boats forms
almost an exact parallel of the parable of the Samaritan in the Bible and highlights the lack of
humanity shown by the soldiers on the boat. The parable describes the story of an injured man
beaten by robbers on the side of the road. Two men, a priest and a levite, pass down the road and
avoid him, while a third man, a Samaritan helps the man recover. The priest and the levite both
had a moral obligation and were duty bound to assist the injured man, yet chose not to, and this
is the exact situation the soldiers and police officers in the boat were in. They too had a moral
obligation and were duty bound to help assist the residents of New Orleans following the
hurricane. Eggers also emphasizes their position of authority by appealing to logos, as he
describes their boats as, a military model, loud, with a great fan anchored perpendicularly to the
rear. It was headed directly towards them. (Eggers 100 101). By describing the crafts as something
specific to the military, Eggers indirectly points out their duty to help the people due to their
possession of vehicles capable of saving many lives. Unfortunately, despite having both the means
and the duty to assist Zeitoun, all of the military personnel choose to ignore Zeitoun, This utter
neglect of their duty indicates their decline in humanity as they choose to ignore someone who

Literary Devices In Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet
Quoting Romeo and Juliet
In Romeo and Juliet, William Shakespeare portrays the inevitability of fate and futility of resisting
one s identity. This is evident, first of all, when Romeo, after slaying Tybalt, says O, I am fortune s
fool. This is an example of alliteration, which is a sound technique that relies not on repeated
letters, but repeated sounds and is produced when a number of words with the same first consonant
sound occur close together. Shakespeare uses this technique of alliteration to create rhythm and
mood to the dialogue, as well as trying to engage the audience. Shakespeare also portrays this
theme, when Romeo says Some consequence yet hanging in the stars/ shall bitterly begin his
fearful fate/ with his nights revels. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tell me, that I may sack/The hateful mansion. This is an example of a metaphor, which is
closely related to a simile, the differences being that similes compare two things, whilst
metaphors are phrases that are literally applied to another, using figure of speech. Shakespeare
uses this technique of metaphors to express and convey how strong the rage that took over
Romeo s self control was. Shakespeare also portrays this theme when Prince Escalus says See,
what a scourge is laid upon your hate/That heavens finds means to kill your joys with love. This is
an example of two techniques, using metaphors and imagery. Imagery is when figurative language
is used to associate words to physical objects or features. Shakespeare uses the techniques of
metaphors and imagery to associate the emotions of the Capulet s and Montague s losses, with the
image of a scourge, or a whip. The imagery of the whip represents the fact that what they have done
through the hatred that overtook their self control and reason, has been punished. These examples
of metaphors and imagery confirm that William Shakespeare successfully represents the tyranny of
the passions in overthrowing self control and

Sun Also Rises Bullfighting Quotes
In The Sun Also Rises the past event World War I negatively affects Jake and his fellow expatriates,
causing their motivation in life to vanish, leaving them to find solace in bullfighting, travel and
alcohol.
Jake and his friends feel aimless in life, they do not feel strongly about many things except for the
magnificent tradition of bullfighting. Bullfighters within the novel are seen as people who live
their lives all the way up (18). These famous individuals receive anything they so please. This
quote demonstrates how miserable life must be for for Jake and his friends. The only thing the
characters feel passionate about in the novel is bullfighting, an activity to past time during the week
long fiesta, San FermГn. Hemingway puts a lot of emphasis on this sport to prove the pointlessness
of life and how World War I negatively affects the characters mentally leaving them to feel nugatory.

traveling, will not help fulfill the empty hole Cohn and everyone else during that time feels within

How Long Has The Earth s Tilt Changes The Seasons
The earth s tilt changes the seasons every time it rotates around the sun.
The temperature is based on how far or how close the earth is to the sun.The earth s climate and the
winds in the atmosphere continue to change every day. Every year the winds change causing
different weather patterns to act on the solid earth. The earth s spin axis is tilted at 23.5 with respect
to the elliptic giving moderate seasons and preventing temperature extremes anywhere on earth.
Because of the earth s dynamic climate ,winds and atmospheric pressure systems experience
constant change. These fluctuations may affect how our planet rotates on it s axis. The earth s
systems and its response to natural and human induced changes, like global warming and
greenhouse gases for the better prediction of climate. Other motions of the atmosphere such as
larger mass in one hemisphere than the other hemisphere can lead to a wobble and the poles
move. There are no forces that are acting on it that would be strong enough to keep it moving with
the ground. Each point on the Earth is not the same distance from the axis of rotation, so the speed
of rotation is 0 mph at the poles, and increases to over 1000 mph at the equator. This means the
atmosphere would have to be moving at different speeds depending on where it was, which would
result in a pressure gradient with highest pressure at the poles and the lowest pressure at the equator.

Geoffrey Chaucer Satire
Considered The Father of the English Language , Geoffrey Chaucer would have a personal
problem, or agenda, and since he s writer he uses a clever way to reveal these opinions. There are
two specific things that he doesn t agree with and wants people to know about it: the church and the
relationship between men and women. He has a problem with the church, because during the 1300
s the Catholic Church, a big deal, was very corrupt. For instance, there are many incidents where
monks would go out and hunt and get married and priests getting women pregnant and charging
people to clean their souls , or as the Catholic Church would call confession. With the relationship
between men and women, Chaucer did not approve the tradition that civilization... Show more

In the Pardoner Prologue , it starts off when the Pardoners begins to preach about how money
/greed is the root of all evil. When the Pardoner is speaking, he has a little too much to drink, and
he starts jabbering his mouth like the usual person would do today. At one point the Pardoner
says, I stand, and when the yokels have sat down, I preach, as you have heard me say before, and
tell a hundred lying mockeries more. Chaucer wanted the people to know was that the priests
thought that they were stupid and all they did was take their money for confessions. He also
said at one point that all he ever cared was for the money, and that after they are dead they can go
to Hell and go blackberry picking. Now when the Pardoner tells his tale, he really emphasized on
the idea that greed is the root of all evil. In the end of the tale, all three characters die killing each
other over a pile of gold, and thus he sets a good example why greed is the root of all evil. After
telling the story, he then loses his buzz and tells everyone that they should give him their money for
a blessing, as if he had forgotten what he said earlier. Chaucer uses this satire to show that the
Pardoner is a hypocrite himself and that the church is not all that it seems. Although, in his third
text he doesn t attack the church, but he gives a dangerous view on the relationship between men

Effects of Downsizing on Employees
Effects of Downsizing on Employees
Statement of Problem
Downsizing is a major problem faced by employees during tough times of recession. Apart from
the economic reasons, they also have severe psychological effects on the employees. This project
is about comprehending the effects of cut backs on employees. Employees suffer from severe self
esteem issues, due to which it s very hard for them to jump back into the same mental stableness.
The structure of this study is to assess the effects of downsizing on employees. Employees tend to
be less effective after a downsizing procedure took place in their organization. Dedication towards
their jobs decline as a result of downsizing. Depression is one of the major issues that are targeted

responsible for the negative attitude toward downsizing. (iv) With companies downsizing it can
affect you emotionally and mentally. The companies demand more responsibilities from fewer
people, which can cause a lot of stress. The workloads increase to where one is working more

Even though it is good for the company, it s the employees who pay for it. (v) This study was part
an attempt to analyze some of the variables that could affect the motivational level of survivors of

between the employees and the management, also that the management failed to answer the
emotional needs of the survivors of downsizing which eventually resulted in a lot of mental trauma.
However research has recognized that downsizing may have unplanned negative penalties for

Wind Power s Power to Create Electricity Essay
Earth, as of today, is a world run by fuels and electricity. Every man, woman, and child is directly
affect by them, whether it is by its consumption, uses, or price. One of the more recent sources for
these fuels and electricity isn t actually very recent at all. Wind Energy, or Wind Power when it is
being converted into a useful form of energy, has actually been around for thousands of years. It has
been used to push ships, as natural ventilation, and to pump seawater.{Insert thesis Here}

Later, wind energy served mankind by energising his grain grinding mills and water pumps.
During its transformation from these crude and heavy devices to today s efficient and
sophisticated machines, the technology went through various phases of development....The
earliest documented design of wind mill dates back to 200 B.C. The Persians used wind mills
from grinding grains during this period. (Sathyajith Mathew 2) By the 14th Century, Windmills
were being used as tools to drain the Rhine delta by the Dutch. In the 1900s, the massive amount
of windmills in Denmark was producing roughly 30 Megawatts of electricity. That is roughly
enough electricity to power a small to medium sized town. It is also enough to provide power to
any one of these: 8,000 average homes, 400 fast food restaurants, 60 large retail stores, 50 grocery
stores, 40 large home improvement stores, 2 Sears towers, 1 computer data center. The efficiency
of a windmill, or the more modern wind turbine is one of the most critical factors of production.
With some certain wind turbines, the efficiency can and may degrade slightly over time, but the
time it takes for the production value to drop 10% is almost 20 years after the construction of that
turbine, and even with that, not all turbines will degrade at that rate. Also, not all of the energy of
the blowing wind is useable, because as the scientific law of the conservation of mass states that as
much mass that enters the wind turbine must also exit

Emerson s Theory Of Self-Reliance
An individual deferring to an expert opinion on a practical matter and instead chooses to follow
blindly to their own opinion is not a practitioner of self reliance. The moment an individual
chooses to forgo the guidance of an expert, who has the time and dedication in the field where
they spent their lives perfecting their craft, is the moment they become enslaved by their ego. I
will first give a brief explanation of Emerson s view on self reliance, and then show it relates to
today. Lastly I will explain the difference between being self reliant and thinking that you are self
reliant. Self Reliance, is an essay in which Ralph Waldo Emersonstresses his stance on why an
individual should be self reliant, a term in which he describes as a person who possesses the
necessary traits to carry out his own individuality against external norms and what their society
wishes for them to become. For a person to become self reliant, under Emerson s point of view, I
find three quotes that can support his notion: An individual must not seek things outside other than
himself, meaning one must not be seeking ideas that he did not formulate on his own, seek
approval from others who wish to change his character, or to seek to fit in a society that doesn t
match his interests. Instead, that person must embrace the qualities that make up themselves, not
making up for the community. For an individual to be a nonconformist, they should be stubborn to
conforming to the type of person

The Theory of General Relativity and The Expansion of the...
Over many centuries, there has been a great deal of controversy over the ultimate fate of the
universe. It began in the early 1900 s with Albert Einstein s theory that General relativity could be
used to inform us about the universe which would also inform us on how the universe would end.
Russian Physicist, Alexander Friedman, was the first to believe that universewas expanding from
initial singularity which is also known as the Big Bang. After Edwin Hubble stated his observation
on the universe s expansion in 1931, the end of the universe has been a subject that many scientist
have investigated. In the late 1920 s before Edwin Hubble s statement about his observation to
which after Einstein heard about the statement, Albert Einstein admitted that his cosmological
constantwas a stupid and careless mistake. George Lemaitre, Belgium astronomer and physics
professor, voiced his theory which is famously known all around the world as the Big Bang
Theory as the origin, or the beginning of the universe. The Big Bang Theory became the most
highly acceptable theory of how the universe came to be thanks to the discovery by Robert Wilson
and Arno Penzias in 1965.
Another important element that contributes to the fate of the universe is the Density Parameter,
which is the average matter of density over the value of that density. That would then give you
either one of the three geometries which are the flat, open and closed universe, and respectively.

Odyssey And Plautus Research Paper
Years ago, I took a world literature class that exposed me to much more that world literature. It
exposed me to history, drama, and even anthropology. I had never read any Roman writers, and
had only minimal exposure to Greeks. We read the Iliad, Odyssey, and Greek tragedian Euripides
and Sophocles and then Horace and Plautus. While this was years ago, our recent readings for class
were totally fresh and new and simultaneously familiar!
I am struck again by the fact that there are no new or original ideas in our modern society.
Reading, Twin Menaechmi seemed too familiar. I am not as well read as many of you, so it took
me a moment to make the connection to Shakespeare s Comedy of Errors . Which in turn reminded

Romans were known as conquerors. Hence the Roman Empire! As a result of the conquering nature
of the Romans, they also took the parts of civilizations they conquered. The best of Greek theatre
and Aristotle s Poetics became property of the Romans. Plautus often adapted works of the Greeks,
which was not plagiarism but was a commendable addition to Roman culture.
Also, similarly, the Romans celebration of theatre was part of a festival celebrated the gods.
Romans celebrated with games, theatre and ritual to honor Jupiter, Apollo, Mother Goddess, and
of course Bacchus. The festivals for Bacchus (Roman Dionysus) was the epitome of Roman
decadence and the Roman orgy. Romans took theatre to a new level of spectacle, gore, and
lewdness.
This made me think if we continue to progress with each generation or as cultures become
integrated what becomes the next level of entertainment? What do we look to for inspiration? The
Romans looked to the Greeks. In turn making theatre more appealing to Roman citizens. Theatres
became larger, carnage was expected, celebrations became drunken orgies, and comedies were
more farcical. We look to all those who have come before and try to, like Plautus, put our own
stamp on the adaptation we

Symptoms And Treatment Of Lyme Disease
ntroduction
Lyme disease has been the most commonly reported vector borne illness in the United States since
the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention started reporting it in 1991 [1]. It should be noted
that Lyme disease does not occur everywhere in the US, and is heavily concentrated in upper
Midwest and northeast United States [1]. This report has been compiled to provide
recommendations for antimicrobial prophylactic treatment of Lyme disease once a patient
encounters a tick bite.
Lyme disease is a multisystem inflammatory disorder caused by the spirochete Borrelia
burgdorferi, which is transmitted by Ixodes dammini. [3]. I. dammini is commonly known as and

Although a vaccine does exist, its cost and multiple doses needed to achieve immunity have limited
its acceptability by the medical community [20, 21]. Antimicrobial therapy has been at the forefront
of research in trying to identify if prophylactic treatment is necessary, what drug is most successful,
and what dosing is most appropriate.
Antimicrobial Prophylaxis
In 1992 Shapiro et al. published their research informing providers prophylactic antimicrobial
treatment is not routinely indicated [2] There were a total of 387 patients in the controlled trial,
203 patients assigned to receive amoxicillin and 182 were given a placebo [2]. Either 250mg of
amoxicillin or a placebo was given to subjects three times a day for ten days. 15 subjects dropped
out and 7 subjects had already shown positive serologic testing to B. burgdorferi and were
therefore dismissed from the study [2]. Out of 173 subjects who received the placebo only two
developed symptomatic infection with B. burgdorferi; whereas, none of the 192 subjects who were
given amoxicillin showed any infection. They concluded the risk of actually becoming infected
with B. burgdorferi is so small that the prophylactic use of antibiotics does not make a clinical
significance and should not be used. The authors also indicated that most deer ticks are actually not
infected with B. burgdorferi, which

The Implications of Dorothy Wordsworth s Own Intellectual Evaluation
Dorothy Wordsworth is extremely critical of her poetic abilities; she personally goes as far to
say that she has, no command of language. Her lack of self confidence in her poetic talents
makes her reluctant to publish poems like A Winter s Ramble in Grasmere Vale. Even when
Dorothy overcomes her unwillingness to publish her work she still displays a certain level of self
consciousness for she transmits her poetic works to her audience anonymously or under pennames.
Partially, this feeling of incapacity as a writer is the result of the public resistance toward female
poets of the Romantic period. Consequently, arenas of publication are very difficult to enter into ...

Nevertheless, the publication history of such poems as, A Winter s Ramble in Grasmere Vale,
reveals a person who felt intimidations when it comes to revealing her poetry and exposing herself
to an audience beyond her immediate circle of intimate community. Dorothy s own feelings of
inadequacy as a writer leads her to suffocate her poetic works; it is rational to connect her own
smothering of her poetic transmission with her critics negative impressions of her poetry.
The exact date Dorothy Wordsworth composes A Winter s Ramble in Grasmere Vale remains a
mystery. Nevertheless, an examination of her inhabitation of Grasmere in relation to the poem
provides a very good estimation of when this poem is conjured. Dorothy and William inhabit
Grasmere Vale in December of 1799. The letter Dorothy writes to her brother Richard on
December 14, 1799 exacts the date William and Dorothy move to their new abode in Grasmere;
We shall set off for Grasmere on Tuseday. The content in A Winter s Ramble in Grasmere Vale
unveils that she is talking about her first days in Grasmere. The title exposes a possible range of
dates when Dorothy creates this composition; these dates logically being those after her move to
Grasmere, thus, late 1799. Reading her poem also reveals that this composition is not made
immediately upon her settlement in Grasmere; A stranger, Grasmere, in thy vale, / All faces then to

The Spectacle refers to the visual elements that make up a play: sets, costumes and special effects. Although costumes are only one small component in a play, I believe they are very imperative for the overall feel of the audience. The costumes worn by the performers portray the personality of the character along with the period of timeof the play. According to a Canadian designer, Judith Bowden, The main job of costume design in a production is to provide physical and emotional support to every actor through the clothinghe or she will wear to enhance characterization ( The costumes designers role ). There is an extensive history of Costume design in Theater, an each century has importance. Theatre design has believed to be created from the ancient Greeks. One of the main personality traits from Taylor is the empowerment she gives to others and the strength she shows The females in The Bean Trees are so strong and that s a main theme that Barbara Kingsolver portrays in the book. Sociologists that have been read for this class claim or found that about international migration is a combination of micro and macro as well as push and pull factors. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is for this reason that the macro element of the neoclassical model is less useful but nevertheless warrants mention. It involves finding equilibrium among different markets but Calvin s situation has more to do with the particular situation in Hong Kong and the family s perceived advantages of traveling to Canada. For instance, at the micro level, notes from Session 2 indicate that migration is caused by rational cost/benefit analysis of individual actors and expected destination earnings (observed earnins x probability of employment) в†’ maximizing returns to human capital . While it was not only employment option alone that motivated the decision; indeed, for Calvin the calculus significantly involved education, but overall the decision had to do with perceived income. There was less concern with loss of freedom, from what Calvin said in the interview, then there was with reduced economic opportunities. It would be prudent at this point to investigate the broader social context of migration from Hong Kong that influenced his migration/integration experience. To me, there are people that should be valued more than others. Should the president suddenly pass than his/her nation could be plunged into chaos. He/she is more valuable and should always be be more valued than a homeless person. A homeless person, whether good or bad were to pass away, then he/she would effect little in the greater nation. This is the cold hard truth. Here are 3 important reasons to discuss this and how they factor in how a person should be valued. One important reason which determines a person s value, is simply a person s importance. Now throughout human history there have always been those who have led us, who were our leaders. These are our monarchs, presidents or other politicians who have run the day to day affairs to running a nation. When we go even further into The Fountainhead, we discover that Howard Roark loves his type of modernistic design in architecture rather than referring to the older and more identifiable types of architecture from history, such as Greek or Roman architecture. Jefferson used powerful and moving statements to list the reasons for the colonies separation. Although Paine and Jefferson s writing aided in the persuasion of political leaders; many colonists were not able to read these powerful political works. Had the writing of Paine and Jefferson been easily accessible for colonists, Paine s The Crisis No. 1. would have caused a greater effect on the colonists perspectives than Jefferson s Declaration of Independence. During the American Revolution, morale was low and many colonists wanted to give up their fight against the British and return home. General George Washington wanted to encourage his troops to remain strong in their fight. In order to do this, General Washington had Thomas Paine s The Crisis No. 1. read to his soldiers. What made Tupac (also known as 2Pac, or Makaveli) so special were his enormous talent, his on screen friendly looks, and the sense that he was real and talked the talk, while walking the walk. The same day that Tupac was convicted, he was shot five times and robbed of his jewelry in a mugging Tupac claimed that the Notorious B.I.G., rapper that Tupac argued with over the past couple of years was responsible for hiring those who shot him. Change Blindness And Its Effects On Blindness Many studies and experiments have been conducted to explain why change blindness occurs and in what situations is change blindness more likely to occur. Literature on change blindness is quite extensive, as it is an emerging area in psychology. A number of researchers have conducted experiments into the key areas where change blindnesshas been found to cause consequential outcomes. These areas include the effects of changeblindness on eye witness testimonies, driving ability, and effects on autism. Literature on change blindness places an emphasis on methodology and this literature review will focus primarily on this. According to Simons Levin (1998) change blindness is the phenomenon that occurs when a person fails to detect large changes between one viewed scene and another. Recent studies show similar findings and evidence as to the original literature into change blindness. As stated by Rensink, 2002 (as cited in Davies Hone, 2007), change blindness has been the subject of intensive research in recent years beginning with studies in which researchers manipulated the content of abstract scenes. Researchers do differ on their perspectives on change blindness depending upon their method approach and background or field; however literature is largely in an agreed consensus as to what change blindness is and its effects on attention. The decline of civility in the workplace has been on the rise. Morals are still at the conclusion that this isn t at any value of importance (Martin). Society assumes that one is born with etiquettes and not taught. Judith Martin states that the Original Innocence is the idea that people are born naturally good but corrupted by civilization (Martin). According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, the definition of civility is polite, reasonable, and respectful behavior. Incivility is an issue for many. Researcher Jeannie Trudel of Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion says that Seventy five percent to eighty percent of people have experienced incivility (Mattice). Employees, bosses, and even family members are affected by one s reaction to incivility. The lack of discipline and the absences of manners is slowly creating a problem in today s work society due to need of communication (Martin). Today s work society has targeted hate for one another. It is typically causing many to regret their choice of profession; constantly, dreading the idea to perform to the expected. Everyone wants to prove their point these days. In The Argument Culture, Deborah Tannen discusses how today s society no longer honors the noble American tradition of debate. She explains how we no longer want to take the time to listen to both sides and definitely not all sides of an issue. We have become a society that would rather fight and argue, often to the point of violence. The war on drugs, the war on cancer, the battle of the sexes, politicians turf battles in the argumentculture war metaphors pervade our talk and shape our thinking, affirms Tannen. The proliferation and increasing portability of technology isolates people in a bubble warns Tannen. The Argument Culture shapes who we are and has a defining impact on our lives and on our culture. She believes it causes us to distort facts. As an example she cites the Nancy Kerrigan Tonya Harding story. After the original attack on Kerrigan s knee, news stories focused on the rivalry between the two skaters instead of portraying Kerrigan as the victim of the attack. Two men, a priest and a levite, pass down the road and avoid him, while a third man, a Samaritan helps the man recover. Literary Devices In Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet Quoting Romeo and Juliet In Romeo and Juliet, William Shakespeare portrays the inevitability of fate and futility of resisting one s identity. This is evident, first of all, when Romeo, after slaying Tybalt, says O, I am fortune s fool. This is an example of alliteration, which is a sound technique that relies not on repeated letters, but repeated sounds and is produced when a number of words with the same first consonant sound occur close together. Shakespeare also portrays this theme when Prince Escalus says See, what a scourge is laid upon your hate/That heavens finds means to kill your joys with love. This is an example of two techniques, using metaphors and imagery. Imagery is when figurative language is used to associate words to physical objects or features. Shakespeare uses the techniques of metaphors and imagery to associate the emotions of the Capulet s and Montague s losses, with the image of a scourge, or a whip. For a person to become self reliant, under Emerson s point of view, I find three quotes that can support his notion: An individual must not seek things outside other than himself, meaning one must not be seeking ideas that he did not formulate on his own, seek approval from others who wish to change his character, or to seek to fit in a society that doesn t match his interests. It began in the early 1900 s with Albert Einstein s theory that General relativity could be used to inform us about the universe which would also inform us on how the universe would end. Russian Physicist, Alexander Friedman, was the first to believe that universewas expanding from initial singularity which is also known as the Big Bang. After Edwin Hubble stated his observation on the universe s expansion in 1931, the end of the universe has been a subject that many scientist have investigated. In the late 1920 s before Edwin Hubble s statement about his observation to which after Einstein heard about the statement, Albert Einstein admitted that his cosmological constantwas a stupid and careless mistake. George Lemaitre, Belgium astronomer and physics professor, voiced his theory which is famously known all around the world as the Big Bang Theory as the origin, or the beginning of the universe. The Big Bang Theory became the most highly acceptable theory of how the universe came to be thanks to the discovery by Robert Wilson and Arno Penzias in 1965. Symptoms And Treatment Of Lyme Disease ntroduction Lyme disease has been the most commonly reported vector borne illness in the United States since the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention started reporting it in 1991 [1]. It should be noted that Lyme disease does not occur everywhere in the US, and is heavily concentrated in upper Midwest and northeast United States [1]. This report has been compiled to provide recommendations for antimicrobial prophylactic treatment of Lyme disease once a patient encounters a tick bite. Lyme disease is a multisystem inflammatory disorder caused by the spirochete Borrelia burgdorferi, which is transmitted by Ixodes dammini. [3]. Antimicrobial therapy has been at the forefront of research in trying to identify if prophylactic treatment is necessary, what drug is most successful, and what dosing is most appropriate. Antimicrobial Prophylaxis In 1992 Shapiro et al. published their research informing providers prophylactic antimicrobial treatment is not routinely indicated [2] There were a total of 387 patients in the controlled trial, 203 patients assigned to receive amoxicillin and 182 were given a placebo [2]. Either 250mg of amoxicillin or a placebo was given to subjects three times a day for ten days. 15 subjects dropped out and 7 subjects had already shown positive serologic testing to B. burgdorferi and were therefore dismissed from the study [2]. Out of 173 subjects who received the placebo only two developed symptomatic infection with B. burgdorferi; whereas, none of the 192 subjects who were given amoxicillin showed any infection. They concluded the risk of actually becoming infected with B. burgdorferi is so small that the prophylactic use of antibiotics does not make a clinical significance and should not be used. The authors also indicated that most deer ticks are actually not infected with B. burgdorferi, which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 50. The Implications of Dorothy Wordsworth s Own Intellectual... The Implications of Dorothy Wordsworth s Own Intellectual Evaluation Dorothy Wordsworth is extremely critical of her poetic abilities; she personally goes as far to say that she has, no command of language. Her lack of self confidence in her poetic talents makes her reluctant to publish poems like A Winter s Ramble in Grasmere Vale. Even when Dorothy overcomes her unwillingness to publish her work she still displays a certain level of self consciousness for she transmits her poetic works to her audience anonymously or under pennames. Partially, this feeling of incapacity as a writer is the result of the public resistance toward female poets of the Romantic period. Consequently, arenas of publication are very difficult to enter into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nevertheless, the publication history of such poems as, A Winter s Ramble in Grasmere Vale, reveals a person who felt intimidations when it comes to revealing her poetry and exposing herself to an audience beyond her immediate circle of intimate community. Dorothy s own feelings of inadequacy as a writer leads her to suffocate her poetic works; it is rational to connect her own smothering of her poetic transmission with her critics negative impressions of her poetry. The exact date Dorothy Wordsworth composes A Winter s Ramble in Grasmere Vale remains a mystery. Nevertheless, an examination of her inhabitation of Grasmere in relation to the poem provides a very good estimation of when this poem is conjured. Dorothy and William inhabit Grasmere Vale in December of 1799. The letter Dorothy writes to her brother Richard on December 14, 1799 exacts the date William and Dorothy move to their new abode in Grasmere; We shall set off for Grasmere on Tuseday. The content in A Winter s Ramble in Grasmere Vale unveils that she is talking about her first days in Grasmere. The title exposes a possible range of dates when Dorothy creates this composition; these dates logically being those after her move to Grasmere, thus, late 1799. Reading her poem also reveals that this composition is not made immediately upon her settlement in Grasmere; A stranger, Grasmere, in thy vale, / All faces then to me unknown. (lines 1 2) A ...
