US Army Garrison Japan Safety will host
refresher Military Sport-bike Rider Course
and Advanced Rider Course (MSRC/ARC) courses,
available to everyone who needs refresher training
in the Kanto Plain.
Personnel will need to provide
their own motorcycles
for the course and the ARC is open to
all types of motorcycles.
Sport-bike riders will have priority MSRC;
but all types of motorcycle riders
are allowed to sign up
for the Advanced Rider Course (ARC).

by a member of the USAG Japan Safety Office
or an instructor who is a qualified flightline driver.
Students and instructors will follow
all flightline driving rules
and regulations including FOD checks
on motorcycles/vehicles prior to enter
the Golf Ramp Area
through the Dental Clinic entry gate.

cooling transition period more comfortable,
while still meeting requirements set
by the Secretary of the Army (SECARMY) Memorandum,

Risk Mitigation in the Face of Fiscal Uncertainty.
As a trial basis, DPW will be operating the
air-condition (A/C) systems based on outside
temperatures and the heat index from local
weather forecasts.
Those who have independent control of
their A/C systems,
please follow the guidance and only operate
when the outside temperature is 78° F (26° C)
or greater.
Discontinue A/C use
when the outside temperature falls below 78°F (26° C).
This will help us
save energy and meet our requirements.

The Living Pattern Survey (LPS),
an important component in determining
the Cost of Living Allowance
(COLA) for Japan,
began May 1, 2015
and continues through May 22.
The Defense Travel Management Office
conducts this online survey every three years
and captures input from
service members and their families
to establish where and how goods
and services are purchased.
All service members in Japan
are highly encouraged to take the 30 minute survey
either at work or at home with their families.
The survey is located at

COLA is a valuable entitlement
while stationed overseas.
By taking the time and effort
to complete the LPS,
the Department of Defense is able to set
equitable allowance rates for Japan.

The 2015 Sun West Roundup Vacation Bible School
will be held
Aug. 3 through 7 from 8:45 a.m. to 12 p.m.

“No Heating / No Cooling” period began April 24,
which allows DPW to perform
necessary preventive maintenance, checks, and services required
on air conditioning systems
throughout installation prior to cooling period.
During “No Heating / No Cooling” period,
facility/building managers must ensure
occupants maximize use of natural ventilation
by opening windows and common area entrances.
The following facilities will be provided top priority
for a controlled environment service
without natural ventilation capability:

1. Divide your staff into teams of three, four, or five
members.

three games as a team. (i.e., frame 1 bowl w/your
left hand, frame2, bowl between your legs, etc.)

3. For each game, one member will bowl the 1st frame,

and so on, until all 10 frames are competed.

Summer is typically a busy construction period.
It is important to all community members,
especially children,
to practice safety and show awareness
when maneuvering
around a construction area in and
around our community.
Remember to "Stay Safe, Stay Away!"
With the different types of construction sites
all over the installations,
it is very important to be
aware of the risk.
Large heavy vehicles – On some construction sites,
heavy machinery and trucks could be operating
to move heavy loads.
When these machines are in use
sometimes the operators are unable
to see fully.

Therefore if you go near them when in operation
you run the risk of being seriously injured or worse.
Pits and manholes – When creating new buildings
or demolishing old ones, often deep holes are
dug to lay foundations or to reach
the pipes below the construction
site floor.

When playing on construction sites,
you may not be aware of these holes
and may fall down them.
Building materials – Many of the materials
that are used on construction sites like
bricks, sand and pipes can also pose
further risks to you.
If not properly stored these materials
could topple and fall on you.
Not wearing safety clothes –
If you are not wearing the right safety clothing
you are putting yourself at an even
greater risk while on a construction site
as people will not be able to see you.
They are worn for a reason!

There are many ways to minimize
the risks posed to community members
by knowing how to stay safe!
Children should always be with an adult –
never go on to a construction site
if an adult is not present.
This way they will be able to look out for you
as well as instruct you on how to stay safe.
Mind the Barriers – Community members,
especially children should always follow
the specific routes around construction
sites that are designed to keep
community members a safe distance
away from the construction site.
Always be alert – every minute something
changes on a construction site,
so it is best to be more alert when on sites.
Heavy loads could be being moved or
heavy machinery could be crossing
the site.
Always be alert!
Never play on/near construction sites –
if a construction site is closed,
it is closed for a reason.
Do not view this as an opportunity
to use it as a play ground.
Signs – be aware of all signs
on construction sites.
They are there for a reason and
could save your life!

  • 18. US Army Garrison Japan Safety will host refresher Military Sport-bike Rider Course and Advanced Rider Course (MSRC/ARC) courses, available to everyone who needs refresher training in the Kanto Plain.
  • 19. Personnel will need to provide their own motorcycles for the course and the ARC is open to all types of motorcycles.
  • 20. Sport-bike riders will have priority MSRC; but all types of motorcycle riders are allowed to sign up for the Advanced Rider Course (ARC).

  • 31. USAG Japan Command and the Directorate of Public Works (DPW) are working to make this FY15 intermittent cooling transition period more comfortable, while still meeting requirements set by the Secretary of the Army (SECARMY) Memorandum, 16 Jan 2013,
  • 32. Subject: Risk Mitigation in the Face of Fiscal Uncertainty. As a trial basis, DPW will be operating the air-condition (A/C) systems based on outside temperatures and the heat index from local weather forecasts.
  • 33. Those who have independent control of their A/C systems, please follow the guidance and only operate when the outside temperature is 78° F (26° C) or greater.

  • 81. Large heavy vehicles – On some construction sites, heavy machinery and trucks could be operating to move heavy loads. When these machines are in use sometimes the operators are unable to see fully.

  • 83. Pits and manholes – When creating new buildings or demolishing old ones, often deep holes are dug to lay foundations or to reach the pipes below the construction site floor.

  • 85. Building materials – Many of the materials that are used on construction sites like bricks, sand and pipes can also pose further risks to you. If not properly stored these materials could topple and fall on you.
  • 86. Not wearing safety clothes – If you are not wearing the right safety clothing you are putting yourself at an even greater risk while on a construction site as people will not be able to see you. They are worn for a reason!

  • 88. Children should always be with an adult – never go on to a construction site if an adult is not present. This way they will be able to look out for you as well as instruct you on how to stay safe.

  • 90. Always be alert – every minute something changes on a construction site, so it is best to be more alert when on sites. Heavy loads could be being moved or heavy machinery could be crossing the site. Always be alert!
