How Strategic Management and Finance Affect Diversity in the Army: Literature Review
National Guard

Introduction
The United States army is increasingly becoming diversified. However, it still lacks a comprehensive talent management system that takes into account the need for integrating, recruiting, coaching, mentoring, and training personnel on diversity. Some of the key factors that have been identified as important in the implementation of diversity training programs in the Army include strategic management and finance. While the influence of strategic management and finance on diversity training is an issue that has extensively been explored by researchers in other fields of management, there still exists a dearth in knowledge that relate these findings to the military, especially the Army (McDonald & Parks, 2013). In view of the above, there is need to conduct a comprehensive literature assessment on the effects of strategic management and finance on diversity training in the Army, especially with respect to talent development, encouragement of inclusivity, and reduction of discrimination.
Literature Review
Research on the effects of strategic management and finance on diversity training in the Army has attracted a lot of scholarly attention. For instance, in his bid to explore the elements of strategic management that promote diversity training in the Army, Reyes (2006) identified success factors for attaining a diversified military. They include: leadership commitment, strategic planning, accountability, employee involvement, and training and mentoring of employees. Reyes (2006) adds that strategic management efforts that seek to address workforce diversity in the Army must place its attention on establishing measurable methods through which diversity training can be utilized to support direction, goals, and objectives of companies. A case in point is the development of a Balanced Workforce Strategy, which involves the tracking of workers’ population and the creation of long-term goals and yearly targets. This plays an integral role in putting managers to account for the upsurge in mobility. Most significantly, Reyes (2006) asserts that strategic management efforts that seek to enhance diversity training must place emphasis on monitoring and coaching candidates from marginalized groups that are poised for senior assignments. Participants must also make use of their promotional prospects in the organization through capitalizing on their training.
While Reyes (2006) stresses on the need to develop a diversity strategic plan and monitor, track, and coach candidates from marginalized groups, the Department of Defense (2012)state that strategic management efforts must be placed on developing, mentoring, and retaining top talents from across the total force. This means that people from different cultural, religious, and gender groups must ...

The US education system has come under a lot of criticisms because of the gap that exists between the curriculum and the expectations of employers in the market (America Institutes for Research, 2013). As a business owner, I support an increased focus on professional and technical training. The current economy demands complex knowledge, which means the current workforce should be highly trained workers (America Institutes for Research, 2013). The demands of the current economy cannot be compared to what was required in the past. There is a necessity for change in the education system to ensure that the suitable graduates churned out every year. Document Set 2 shows that there are 3.3 million job opportunities in the United States. Most of these jobs go for over month without being filled. It is a confirmation that the problem is the gap between what is taught and what is needed in the market. The information has been obtained from White House Job Council, which is a government controlled site. The information is backed by extensive research.
Research has discredited the myth that there is a job shortage in the country. There are many industries that have created jobs that require individuals with the appropriate training and education. Therefore, the problem is the lack of a strong connection between what is taught in school and the economy. There is a need to increase focus on the current curriculum to ensure that students are taught what exists in the market. A collaboration between higher learning institutions and employers is necessary to ensure that new graduates possess skills relevant to the demands of the current economy.
Technology has become an essential part of many industries, which explains the increased demand for professional and technical skills (Edmonson, 2005). Change is necessary to ensure that increased focus is given to technic ...

Population and Sampling
The constructs of population and sampling are integral to all research undertakings. Populations refer to a complete set of elements, whether persons or objects, that possess some common characteristics defined by the sampling criteria established by the researcher(Han,2019). The number of elements in the populations reflects the size of the population. Populations can fall into either target populations or accessible populations. The targeted population for this research study will consist investment leaders from capital investment companies in the northeast of U.S , who have a least 5 years experiences in the industry and implanted strategies to increase investment return, and investment performance.
The population is a collection of individuals from which researchers develop their sample research study(Han, 2019). Researchers must ensure the targeted population to be accessible; selecting an inaccessible population could potentially affect the scholar's ability to collect data(Binde & Romild, 2019). Aligning the population with the research question allows researchers to collect data from strategic investment decision making leaders from capital investment industry in northeast region of the U.S ,who met the criteria from the research study. Hence, providing enough data is a precursor to credible analysis and reporting to determine an adequate sample size that has a direct relation with data saturation. However, the quantity is not the determining factor when it comes to data saturation; the quality of the data must align with the research study(Binde & Romild, 2019).
Sampling refers to the process of selecting a sample from a population of interest so that a researcher can fairly generalize the results gained from these participants to the population from which the researcher obtained the sample(Wei et al,2019). There are different types of sampling techniques that researchers can utilize during their investigations, which broadly fall into probability and non-probability sampling(Wei et al ,2019). Some of the most notable probability sampling techniques include simple random sampling, stratified sampling, clustered sampling, and systematic sampling (Han, 2019).
Thu, on the contrary, non-probability sampling techniques include convenience sampling, purposive sampling, quota sampling, and snowball sampling. The main difference between a sample and a population has to do with the manner in which the researcher assigns observations to the data set(Binde & Romild, 2019). A population includes all the elements from a data set, whereas a sample consists of one or more observations derived from the population. The constructs of population and sampling can indeed find direct application in my doctoral research study. I will use purposive sample to compute the correct sample size from the population that can make the findings easy to generalize to the wider population.
In selecting samples during my research endea ...
Downcast Enrollments: A Desperate Need of Holistic Marketing for Technical Ed...Prashant Mahajan
Modern history has shown that only those countries, which could acquire capability to develop and apply science and technology, have found great success to grow their wealth and improve living conditions of their population. Technical education in India contributes a major share to the overall education system and plays a vital role in the social and economic development of the nation. There is a rapid growth of technical education in last decade in terms of the no. of institutes and intake capacity in India, however, institutes failed to attract enrollments which observed noticeable gap in between the actual no. of enrollments and intake capacity. In the year 2015-16, 46% of seats were vacant in Technical Education in India. The purpose of this paper is to highlight holistic marketing approach with promotion mix on diversified enrollments to motivate enrollments in selecting institute of Technical education.
Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:
