Colors are an important element of art that is created whenever light strikes an object and is reflected back to the eye, giving life and interest to everything. There are three main types of colors: primary colors of red, blue and yellow that cannot be mixed; secondary colors of orange, purple and green that are created by mixing two primary colors; and tertiary colors that are combinations of primary and secondary colors such as yellow-orange and blue-green. A color wheel visually depicts the relationships between all the different color types.
