The College Blueprint Process
Step 1: Research Your College
Step 2: Create SMART College Goals
Step 3: Create SMART Year Goals
Step 4: Create SMART Semester Goals
Step 5: Attack Your Goals By Implementing A Habit!
What Are SMART Goals
Specific
Goal should state precisely what is to be
accomplished.
Measurable
Goal progress should be visible and able to be
tracked.
Achievable
Goal should be reachable based on resources,
capabilities, and personal abilities.
Relevant
Goal should align with other goals and should
matter.
Timely
Goal should have a specific completion date.
Not SMART
● Lose weight and work out more.
SMART
● Lose 10 pounds by working out for 1
hour in the gym 3 times per week
over the course of the next 3 months.

2. SMART College Goal!
SMART _________________ College Goals:
In order to get into ______________ at a price I can afford I need to maintain an average _____
unweighted GPA while taking classes of _____ and get at least an average _____ on the SAT or ____ on
the ACT. If I do this I will get ___ in merit based scholarships.
I also need to get at least _______ in private based scholarship my senior year.
Other consideration that I need to consider for this based on my research are as follows:
______________________________________________________________________________
______________________________________________________________________________
______________________________________________________________________________
______________________________________________________________________________
______________________________________________________________________________
3. SMART Year Goals
What do you need to do this year to reach your College goals?
1. _____________________________________________________________
2. _____________________________________________________________
3. _____________________________________________________________
4. _____________________________________________________________
Helpful Resources:
● See our recommended academic tracks!
● When to take SAT subject test.
4. SMART Semester/Summer Goals
What do you need to do this semester/summer to reach your year goals?
1. _____________________________________________________________
2. _____________________________________________________________
3. _____________________________________________________________
4. _____________________________________________________________
5. Attack Goals by Creating a Habit
Habits are made up of cues, routines, and
rewards.
By consciously integrating the right cues,
following specific routines – in order to get
a specific reward – the process will
become automatic.
5. Create a Habit to Have a Weekly
Routine to Measure Progress
Cue: What day and time will you have your weekly review? Wednesday morning before
breakfast
Routine: 3 SMART tasks you did and plan on doing that line up to your semester goal.
Reward: What reward will you receive if you complete the weekly review? Get to play
video games that evening for 1 hour.
Consequence: What consequence will occur if you don’t complete your weekly review?
Can’t watch football on Sunday.
