The document discusses collaboration and cooperation tools. It provides an overview of Tero Peltola's research on using social media technologies internally in companies. Examples of collaboration tools are presented that can be grouped into those targeting the innovation process or cross-functional communication. Streamwork, Bluekiwi and Jive are highlighted as examples of tools focusing on cross-functional communication. The research aims to study how social media influences the initial phase of new product development and the performance of companies. Challenges and expectations of using these tools on the individual and organizational levels are also discussed.

The presentation introduces a recent project by Vodafone's User Experience team to engage with people passionate about the environment in collaborative design and open prototyping. The resulting innovative concept designs focused on collecting data about emission-causing activities, and using that data to promote self-awareness of impact and to stimulate change. The presentation also covers some of the things learned from these projects, and others encountered along the way.

Interaction Room - Creating Space for Developments (Software Projects)adesso Turkey
The Interaction Room serves several purposes:
1) The focus on mission-critical aspects
2) Identification and elimination of risks associated with intuitive visualization methods at an early stage
3) Improving teamwork and the establishment of joint project responsibility between the IT and specialist departments.
The Interaction Room makes the relationships between processes, data and the application environment transparent and creates the basis for efficient decision-making processes. It is a method which steers the interest of those involved in the project’s progress and contributes to ensuring that all participants continuously work on the vision of the software that is being developed. The Interaction Room is not a theoretical concept but has proven itself in the business environment, as can be seen in successful projects in which the Interaction Room has already been used effectively.

New World Technologies 2020 and Beyond - PreviewBizzmaxx
Preview of my book “New World Technologies: 2020 and beyond” to be published in New York in August 2018. The target audience are Business & Technology Students, Professionals, Managers and Executives interested in Digital Transformation & Emerging Technologies. I’ve structured the content in four sections:
Section I is a holistic view of Digital Transformation which is causing many disruptions both in business and technology.
In Section II, I focus on Emerging Technologies like Blockchain, Internet of Things, Augmented and Virtual Reality. These technologies can be powered by Big Data and have impact in various industries.
In Section III, I focus on other Emerging Technologies such as 3D Printing, Artificial Intelligence, Drones and Robotics. Again, these technologies can be powered by Big Data and have impact in various industries.
Section IV is about Strategic Technology Planning, which helps to reduce complexity when starting a digital or technology project. My methodology here is a mix of SOSTAC® and Business Model Canvas.

Main Hypothesis: internal social media makes expertise visible accross the organizational boundaries of the new units.
Expertise istthe first step to mutal respect, which helps to build up trust. Trust is the basis for future collaboration. These bootom-up established trust can be stronger than all the political issues and can therefore contribute to a more effective post merger integration.

- are driven by the latest research
- are well supported

IT is often hesitant about taking new directions because of the number of unfamiliar technologies competing for attention, budgetary constraints, fear of change, and skepticism about which new direction will actually provide value. Pick the right technologies to deploy in 2011 and stay ahead of the curve.
•Understand which new technologies provide clear organizational value.
•Identify the candidate new technologies the organization should consider in 2011.
•Assess technology which should be retired in preparation for the new technology.
Use this solution set to help plan technology adoption for 2011 and beyond. An assessment tool for helping with the selection process is also included in this set.
DELL Technologies - The IoT Value Chain - Solutions for the Smart World (Hand...Smarter.World
In this presentation we will introduce various aspects of the Internet of Things, Industry 4.0 and the associated challenges in implementing new digital services.
We also refer to IoT / Industry 4.0 terminology, market developments, factors and drivers, IoT platform components, but also to the differentiation and similarities of the Internet of Things and Industry 4.0.
Using various application examples, we will outline the range of DELL Technologies offerings.
Here, however, we remain at an overview level for the first time without paying attention to the details of the deployable DELL-EMC products and solutions.
We would continue this in downstream discussions depending on the identified topic segment.

M6: Enterprise 2.0 and the 'Resocialization of IT'
In recent months, businesses have paid a great deal of lip service to "Enterprise 2.0," a loosely defined set of tools, rules and processes for supporting highly adaptive and efficient communication inside and outside the enterprise. A key concept in Enteprise 2.0 is user autonomy -- often, the user can implement tools with little or no support from IT. What does this mean for the IT organization, and what can it do to fulfill its mandate of supporting best practices? In this session, we will look at some of the assumptions underpinning Enterprise 2.0 and examine best practices that are emerging at leading organizations.

Using social media technologies will be increased, as
only 5 out of 115 companies estimated that they will

In addition to marketing and PR, R&D process and

16. Wrap up
There are lots of studies that indicate various benefits
It is not just for certain industry, but for all of them
Tero Peltola / CITER 2.10.2012
18. But first…
Variety of tools that can be grouped in many ways.
For example, by the frequency of use (Migdadi et al. 2008)
-Discussion forums
-Repositories
-Shared databases
-Workflow
I prefer to group them by the ”original” target
Tero Peltola / CITER 2.10.2012

Tero Peltola / CITER 2.10.2012
23. Path of the innovation process
Applications are a bit closer to open innovation –type of
working methods (such as crowdsourcing) than
applications based on cross-functional communication
The same tool for open innovations might not fit (or is not
used) to all aspects of online collaboration inside the

34. DIY Enterprise Social Network -application
Pros
Fully tailored solution, only the features that are required
UI can be made familiar to employers
Initial costs might be lower be lower
(seem to)
Cons
Fully tailored solution, only the features that are required
Providing organization might not be specialist to ESN
Maintanance also DIY
Some cases DIY is preferred, but as there are available so
many good applications why bother…
Tero Peltola / CITER 2.10.2012
35. About the price
Not cheap applications
15…20k€ annually
Depends on many things: modularity?, amount of users?,
market penetration?, etc
Is it worth it?
Tero Peltola / CITER 2.10.2012
36. Wrap up
There are lots of alternatives available
Applications are pretty similar
But one should recognize the main motivation for social
media technology adoption
Tero Peltola / CITER 2.10.2012
37. Influence of social media technology to the initial phase of the new
product development
Tero Peltola / CITER 2.10.2012
39. The reseach in the nutshell
Tero Peltola / CITER 2.10.2012
40. Case company selection criteria
Social media tool is irrelevant
Companies should have several organizations
Active tendency to find new knowledge and ideas
Should have interest to use social media technologies
company-wide
Case companies should be from wide spectrum of different
fields
Willingness to participate in the research
Tero Peltola / CITER 2.10.2012
41. Cases / change
Case 1: Enterprise Social Network wider scale + mobile app
Case 2: Intranet + social media tool integration
Case 3: ESN roll-out wider scale
Case 4: Launcing business network & Linkedin group
Tero Peltola / CITER 2.10.2012
42. Expectations
Individual level
Task complexity seems to be irrelevant
Depends on familiarity towards social media (not age)
Organizational level
The glory and glitter seems to be increased step by step in
upward direction
Tero Peltola / CITER 2.10.2012
45. Challenges
Individual level
Group identity
Mutual trust
Organization level
Information transparency – confidental material
How to motivate sufficient amount of users
Tero Peltola / CITER 2.10.2012
46. Wrap up
Organizations are still learning to find the new way of
working
