3. OBJECTIVE OF INTERNSHIP
• To analyze the practical implication of theoretical knowledge acquired during
B.E program.
• To gain practical knowledge about organization.
• Develop and improve business skills in communication, technology,
quantitative reasoning, and teamwork.
4. COMPANY OVERVIEW
• Factory Name : Naranja Sahakari Sakkare Karkhane Ltd (NSSK) .

5. COGENERATION IN SUGAR FACTORY
A cogeneration system is the simultaneous generation of multiple forms of
useful energy in a single integrated system.
System consist of prime mover, generator, heat recovery, and electrical
interconnection configured into an integrated whole.

7. MAIN PARTS OF CO-GENERATION
Water tube boiler-Water circulates inside the tube which are surrounded by hotgases from
the furnace.
ID fan will take the hot flue gases from furnace via dust collector and will deliver to
chimney.
FD fan, is used basically for providing the required quantity of hot air to the furnace for
smooth and uniform combustion of fuel.
Back Pressure Steam Turbine :Steam exits the turbine at a pressure higher or at least equal
to the atmospheric pressure, which depends on the needs of the thermal load.
Steam engine which coverts steam into electricity.
8. ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES
Cogeneration can significantly reduce carbon emissions.
Combustion systems have an efficiency of about 40-50 percent.
Steam required for power generation is produced from bagasse (Waste left
from sugar cane after extraction of juice). So theoretically, we have no fuel
cost.
High flexibility in operation.
Reduces T&D losses.
Requires large up front capital investment.
Not suitable for all sites.
9. CONCLUSION
The architecture of the power plant where whole plant is controlled make the
student realize that engineering is not just learning the structured description
and working of various machines, but the greater part is of planning proper
management.
It also provides an opportunities to learn low technology used at proper place
and time.
It has allowed an opportunity to get an exposure of the practical
implementation to theoretical fundamentals.
