AWS vs Azure - A high level comparison between the giants in cloud computingEuro IT Group
IDC predicts that cloud computing will be a $107 billion industry by 2017. Today 82% of enterprises have a hybrid cloud strategy and, increasingly, enterprises plan to use a portfolio of clouds, with 82% reporting a multi-cloud strategy.
Gartner’s recent 2015 Cloud Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) Magic Quadrant present mention Amazon Web Services and Microsoft’s Azure in the Leaders Quadrant. Amazon Web Services (AWS) is the oldest player and has held the leading position for over five years now.
Below, I’ve made a high level comparison between the marketing leaders Microsoft Windows Azure and Amazon Web Services.
Although AWS had a great start and still rules the market, Microsoft is catching up fast, as they continue to invest in their cloud infrastructure and to match Amazon’s services and flexibility.
In any case, for organizations that made significant investments in Microsoft technologies, Azure is definitely in a favorite position.
AWS and its partners offer a wide range of tools and features to help you to meet your security objectives. These tools mirror the familiar controls you deploy within your on-premises environments. AWS provides security-specific tools and features across network security, configuration management, access control and data security. In addition, AWS provides monitoring and logging tools to can provide full visibility into what is happening in your environment. In this session, you will get introduced to the range of security tools and features that AWS offers, and the latest security innovations coming from AWS.
You Can’t Protect What You Can’t See: AWS Security Monitoring & Compliance Va...Amazon Web Services
Ensuring security and compliance across a globally distributed, large-scale AWS deployment requires a scalable process and a comprehensive set of technologies. In this session, Adobe will deep-dive into the AWS native monitoring and security services and some Splunk technologies leveraged globally to perform security monitoring across a large number of AWS accounts. You will learn about Adobe’s collection plumbing including components of S3, Kinesis, CloudWatch, SNS, Dynamo DB and Lambda, as well as the tooling and processes used at Adobe to deliver scalable monitoring without managing an unwieldy number of API keys and input stanzas. Session sponsored by Splunk.

Introduction to Three AWS Security Services - November 2016 Webinar SeriesAmazon Web Services
You can help maintain control of your environment by choosing the right AWS security tools. In this webinar, we show how AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM), AWS Config Rules, and AWS Cloud Trail can help you maintain that control. In a live demo, we show you how to track changes, monitor compliance, and keep an audit record of API requests.
Learning Objectives:
• Learn what IAM is and how to leverage it appropriately.
• Gain familiarity with how to track changes and monitor for compliance.
• Keep an audit record of API requests for reporting purposes.
• Understand how these services complement each other.
Cloud computing began to get both awareness and popularity in the early 2000s.
When the concept of cloud computing originally came to prominence most people did
not fully understand what role it fullled or how it helped an organization. In some
cases people still do not fully understand the concept of cloud computing. Cloud
computing can refer to business intelligence (BI), complex event processing (CEP),
service-oriented architecture (SOA), Software as a Service (SaaS), Web-oriented architecture
(WOA), and even Enterprise 2.0. With the advent and growing acceptance
of cloud-based applications like Gmail, Google Calendar, Flickr, Google Docs, and
Delicious, more and more individuals are now open to using a cloud computing environment
than ever before. As this need has continued to grow so has the support
and surrounding infrastructure needed to support it. To meet those needs companies
like Google, Microsoft, and Amazon have started growing server farms in order to
provide companies with the ability to store, process, and retrieve data while generating
income for themselves. To meet this need Google has brought on-line more
than a million servers in over 30 data centers across its global network. Microsoft
is also investing billions to grow its own cloud infrastructure. Microsoft is currently
adding an estimated 20,000 servers a month. With this amount of process, storage
and computing power coming online, the concept of cloud computing is more of a
reality than ever before. The growth of cloud computing had the net eect of businesses
migrating to a new way of managing their data infrastructure. This growth of
cloud computing capabilities has been described as driving massive centralization at
its deep center to take advantage of economies of scale in computing power, energy
consumption, cooling, and administration.

Rightsizing Your Silicon Design Environment: Elastic Clusters for EDA Workloa...Amazon Web Services
The static nature of on-premises electronic design automation (EDA) data centers can limit workloads from scaling to meet unforeseen deadlines and aggressive tape-out schedules. The elasticity of the cloud puts virtually unlimited compute capacity at your fingertips and can enable semiconductor companies to quickly scale up in ways they couldn't before, reducing time to market. In this hands-on workshop, you work alongside solutions architects and the AWS internal silicon design infrastructure team to dive deep into scalable architectures for designing chips in the cloud. You deploy an elastic computing cluster that is optimized for EDA workloads and scales dynamically using AWS services. We cover compute, storage, network, security options, and best practices. Within your AWS account, you will retain a silicon design environment running in the cloud. Come prepared to build with a laptop and an existing AWS account. AWS credits will be provided.
2. Introduction
