Many people are constantly seeing videos of doom and gloom whe it comes to climate change. This presentation highlights key areas that are driving various governments to impose carbon tax/price for carbon. The problem is that carbon tax and/or price carbon do nothing for the environment as such are strictly a tax grab for votes.

4. WHAT IS CLIMATE CHANGE
• a change in global or regional climate patterns, in particular a
change apparent from the mid to late 20th century onwards and
attributed largely to the increased levels of atmospheric carbon
dioxide produced by the use of fossil fuels.

5. WHAT IS CO2?
• Colorless, odorless, non-combustible greenhouse-gas that contributes to global
warming. Formed by complete combustion of fossil fuels (coal, charcoal, natural gas,
petroleum) and carbon containing products (such as wood), it is released also
through respiration by living organisms and by the gradual oxidation of organic
matter in soil. Although relatively non-hazardous, it can create lethal oxygen-
deficient environments in high concentrations (specially in confined spaces). It is
one of the greenhouse gases and, since over the last 200 years its concentration in
upper atmosphere has increased from 270 parts per million (PPM) to 350 ppm, it is
said to be the cause of changes in global climatic patterns.

6. IMPORTANCE OF CO2
• Literally thousands of laboratory and field experiments have conclusively
demonstrated that enriching the air with carbon dioxide stimulates the growth
and development of nearly all plants. They have also revealed that higher-than-
normal CO2 concentrations dramatically enhance the efficiency with which
plants utilize water, sometimes as much as doubling it in response to a doubling
of the air's CO2 content. These CO2-induced improvements typically lead to the
development of more extensive and active root systems, enabling plants to
more thoroughly explore larger volumes of soil in search of the things they
need. Consequently, even in soils lacking sufficient water and nutrients for good
growth at today's CO2 concentrations, plants exposed to the elevated
atmospheric CO2 levels expected in the future generally show remarkable
increases in vegetative productivity, which should enable them to successfully
colonize low-rainfall areas that are presently too dry to support more than
isolated patches of desert vegetation.

All forms of carbon pricing are cash grabs by government unless they
succeed in changing human behavior.
Carbon taxes and cap and trade (a carbon tax by another name) do
nothing to address man-made global warming on their own.
They are failures unless they succeed in moving human behaviour
toward voluntary austerity.
