The document summarizes the water treatment process at the Calahorra Water-Treatment Plant. Waste water is collected from surrounding municipalities and brought to the plant. It undergoes pre-treatment to remove solids, sand, and oils. The water then undergoes primary decantation where solids fall to the bottom. Next, bacteria digest organic pollutants through anaerobic and aerobic biological treatment. Secondary decantation separates the water from bacterial sludge. The sludge is further treated to produce methane and compost. Finally, the filtered and disinfected water is released into the river while the methane is used to produce electricity.

The fashion industry relies entirely on water for textile and garment manufacturing processes. It takes an average of 10,000 liters of water to grow just one kilogram of raw cotton, with cotton being used to make one-third of the textile produced worldwide (and it represents 90% of the natural fibers used).

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

2. We are going to explain how waste water is
treated to become purified water that can be
safely put back into the river.
WATER - TREATMENT PLANT
3. Waste water or sewage is collected from agriculture, industry and
domestic use in Calahorra, Autol, Quel and Arnedo and taken to the
Water-Treatment Plant.
4. COLLECTING OF WATER
In the Plant it is mixed with rain water
that has been collected from the streets of
Calahorra, Autol, Quel and Arnedo
through the storm drain.
Storm tank
5. PRE-TREATMENT
1. SOLIDS ELIMINATION
Water is pumped and forced to pass through 2 different
grilles: the first one, holds back big solids floating on
water; the second, smaller ones.
6. 2. DEGREASING AND DESANDING
Then water is treated to remove sand
and oils. Oil is the pollutant most
difficult to get rid of.
7. 3. COLLECTING OF SOLIDS, SANDS AND OILS
Solids, sands and oils are later
compacted and deposited in a
landfill
8. TREATMENT
1. PRIMARY DECANTATION
The water passes to a
decantation tank outdoor for
the solid subtances fall at
bottom, and form the primary
sludge.
9. 2. BIOLOGICAL TREATMENT
Now, it is time to remove organic matter.
There are two types of bacteria that can do
this :
- First, anaerobic bacteria digest organic
pollutants without oxygen.
- Later, aerobic bacteria digest the remains
in the presence of oxygen.
10. 3. SECONDARY DECANTATION
The water is separated from
the sludge produced for the
bacterial action, and form the
secondary sludge.
11. 4. SLUDGE TREATMENT
As a result of bacterial
digestion two different
substances are produced:
methane and compost.
SLUDGE
12. 5. GAS LINE
ELECTRICITY
Compost is used in agriculture as a natural
soil fertilizer.
Methane is stored and used to produce
electricity.
13. Finally the filtered and disinfected
water is poured into the river.
But
this
water can't
be drinked.
