common goal of restoring and maintaining a
good health of the people who go there for
relief from the pain, sufferings and diseases.

 The word “clinical” refers to the treatment of
a disease in human beings. Different types of
diseases need different modes and means of
the treatment.
 Maternity hospital – which is specialized
to provide obstetrics (i.e. dealing with child
birth) and gynaecological (i.e. related to
female reproductive system) services along
with antenatal (during pregnancy) and
neonatal (new born child) care.
 Surgery (surgical hospitals) – which is
specialized to perform surgical operations.
They have operation theatres and surgeons.

(1) Gynaecological – related to female
reproductive system. This is usually
attached with maternity hospital.
(2) Orthopaedic – surgery related to

heart, lung.
(5) General surgery – surgery of any
kind.
(6) Neurological – having facilities for
surgery of brain and spinal cord.
(7) Kidney hospital – involved in kidney
transplantation and blood or peritened
dialysis services.

In the world of specialization there can
be different types of hospital
providing specialized care for a
particular type of diseases:
(1) General hospital – where what is
called “family physician “ treats or
advises the patients.
(2) Paediatrics hospital – special care for
children is taken.
(3) Communicable diseases hospital –
should have adequate space to prevent
spread of the infectious disease and
takes care of patients with such
diseases.

teeth.
(7) Cancer hospital – surgical treatment
is often given.
