Dear Director,
I am writing to be considered for a Clinical Social Work position within your agency. I am presently enrolled in
the Masters of Social Work program at The College of St. Scholastica and will graduate May 14, 2016. The
program I am enrolled in has a clinical focus. Through my coursework, I have obtained clinical training in the
areas of Integrated-Behavioral Health, Neurodevelopmental Disorders, Direct Practice, Assessment and
Diagnosis, and Practice Evaluation.
I am eager to provide mental health services in the Duluth area with a person-centered strength-based
approach that empowers clients to achieve their passions and goals.
During my MSW, I completed a clinical internship with Pathways to Achievement Inc. In this capacity, I was
trained to perform Diagnostic Assessments and provided therapeutic services to persons with Severe and
Persistent Mental Illness. My other professional experiences from employment and my internships for my BSW
strengthened my knowledge of social service systems and case management interventions. At Productive
Alternatives, I supported adults with disabilities in achieving their vocational goals. I also worked with families
at TCC Headstart and as a social worker for Douglas County in child protection. I advocated for needed
services and assisted them in healthy parenting with a balance of accountability and guidance.
Providing quality clinical social work is of utmost importance to me. As a mental health clinician I would provide
the best in care for each and every individual served.
I would appreciate the opportunity to meet with you to learn more about the care settings and opportunities that
may be available within your agency. Thank you for your consideration. Please feel free to contact me at 218-
343-6871 or mariaholm79@gmail.com, should you have any further questions.
Sincerely,
Maria Holm
