Dear Sir/Madam:
I am a graduate of College of the Holy Cross College with a B.A. in Sociology. I have taken a graduate
level course in Substance Abuse at Georgian Court College of Lakewood, New Jersey, I have taken a
graduate level course in Managerial Communications at University of Phoenix, Arizona and I have taken
a graduate level course in Organization Leadership at Gonzaga University of Spokane, Washington. I am
deeply interested in continuing to inspire, challenge, uplift, and empower youth to make the very best
use of their abilities and skills to make right choices and cope with the daily demands of the
environment in which they live. This includes encouraging youth to stay in school and where applicable
to keep their families intact while teaching them job, fatherhood, and life skills. I am passionate about
the fields of Leadership and Mentoring/Coaching and would welcome the opportunity to contribute my
research and writing skills and professional experience to your growing non-profit organization.
I am also excited about your organization’s commitment to serving the needs of underserved youth. As
a former foster care youth of color, athlete, college graduate, licensed residential health care facility
administrator, emergency preparedness/business continuity professional, hospital patient satisfaction
manager, life skills instructor, blog editor, and writer and poet I am very aware of the importance of
empathy, discernment, good listening skills, and integrity as the foundation for building caring,
encouraging, and trusted relationships. As a NJ State Department of Health and Senior Services trained
Residential Health Care Facility Administrator, and Intake Coordinator and Psych Intern (under LICSW
supervision) I assisted persons with long-term psychiatric disabilities and or a past history of substance
abuse in increasing their functioning and their quality of life while residing at Whispering Pine (RHCF) in
Lakewood, NJ. As a Kimball Medical Center Volunteer in Lakewood, New Jersey, I supported the
professional nursing staff in providing patient care by assisting with non-clinical tasks and displaying
unconditional positive regard, empathy, and loving-kindness all of which were found to positively
contribute to the restoration of patient health and well-being.
In addition to my concentration in Sociology, I completed course work in Anthropology, Fine Arts,
Philosophy, and Psychology. Working with the Kids Alley Summer Camp Program as a volunteer in
Camden, New Jersey, I assisted in bringing immediate Relief for children and families in need or at risk;
to restore to them their dignity as a human being; to empower them with the knowledge and support
needed to rise above their circumstances- therefore attaining and sustaining Real Growth. As a Life
Skills Instructor for Catholic Charities, Diocese of Trenton – Neptune, New Jersey, I worked at a
transitional group home for homeless young men ages 17-21 and a supervised apartment program for
2. young men and women. Residents received training in independent living skills (i.e., daily living skills,
self-care, housing & money management, work & study skills, and career & educational planning) and
were linked to vocational and educational services to learn a trade, finish high school or earn a college
degree. This was effectively accomplished through Ansell-Casey Life Skills education as indicated by the
Competency Based Assessment (CBLSA) System for Life Skills, the Program Supervisor, therapist, and
staff's ongoing observations.
Thank you for your consideration, I very much look forward to the opportunity to speak with you in
person about my interest in assisting you in providing excellent service to your valued clients.
Sincerely,
Jonathan Dunnemann
