In strong contrast to the prevailing gloom, the forty first MIDEST, the world’s leading industrial solutions show that ran from 15th to 18th November received substantially more visitors than last year. MIDEST 2011 hosted 1,724 exhibitors and attracted 42,769 professionals, with the latter figure being 5.8% up on 2010. It was also noticeable how different the atmosphere was to the nervousness on all the air waves and how favourable it was to business, which, in itself, answers all those questions about how French and European business is weathering the storm. The week was marked by a whole series of contracts and orders that were either signed at the show or which should be signed within the near future.
MAINTENANCE EXPO, the total maintenance solutions show held in conjunction with MIDEST, hosted some forty exhibitors and maintained visitor numbers at 9,000, some of whom came just to it and others of whom were drawn from MIDEST.
There were a whole series of highlights extending from the opening of the show by Bernard Accoyer, President of the National Assembly, and His Excellency the Portuguese Ambassador to France, Francisco Seixas da Costa, accompanied by Jean-Claude Volot, the Mediator for company relations, followed, on the next day, by Eric Besson, the Minister of Industry, and then event after event over the four days of the show.

Despite a sluggish overall economic situation, bad weather in eastern and central France and protests by farmers, MIDEST, the world’s leading industrial subcontracting show, which ran for the 43rd time from 19th to 22nd November at the Paris Nord Villepinte Exhibition Centre, was a real success. On opening it matched the previous year’s show in terms of the number of exhibitors (1,702 companies from 38 countries) and exhibition space but it then went on to attract 42,101 professionals from all sectors of industry, which was an increase of 7% on 2012. Not only were the numbers up but the visitors were highly qualified and came with plans for actual business projects.
The numerous events and initiatives reached out to a broad public, including, as they did, the show’s focus on energy, the choice of its first non-European country of the year, South Africa, the special Algerian day, the promotion of mechanical engineering trades to young girls by the FIM (mechanical engineering federation) and the b2fair– Business to Fairs® business meetings.
The Public Procurement Office asked SIGMA to continue its activities in 2014-2015 and assist selected contracting authorities to start some pilot projects by conducting a workshop on practical aspects of awarding contracts that promote innovation.

"Understanding the Carbon Cycle: Processes, Human Impacts, and Strategies for...MMariSelvam4
The carbon cycle is a critical component of Earth's environmental system, governing the movement and transformation of carbon through various reservoirs, including the atmosphere, oceans, soil, and living organisms. This complex cycle involves several key processes such as photosynthesis, respiration, decomposition, and carbon sequestration, each contributing to the regulation of carbon levels on the planet.
Human activities, particularly fossil fuel combustion and deforestation, have significantly altered the natural carbon cycle, leading to increased atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations and driving climate change. Understanding the intricacies of the carbon cycle is essential for assessing the impacts of these changes and developing effective mitigation strategies.
By studying the carbon cycle, scientists can identify carbon sources and sinks, measure carbon fluxes, and predict future trends. This knowledge is crucial for crafting policies aimed at reducing carbon emissions, enhancing carbon storage, and promoting sustainable practices. The carbon cycle's interplay with climate systems, ecosystems, and human activities underscores its importance in maintaining a stable and healthy planet.
In-depth exploration of the carbon cycle reveals the delicate balance required to sustain life and the urgent need to address anthropogenic influences. Through research, education, and policy, we can work towards restoring equilibrium in the carbon cycle and ensuring a sustainable future for generations to come.
UNDERSTANDING WHAT GREEN WASHING IS!.pdfJulietMogola
Many companies today use green washing to lure the public into thinking they are conserving the environment but in real sense they are doing more harm. There have been such several cases from very big companies here in Kenya and also globally. This ranges from various sectors from manufacturing and goes to consumer products. Educating people on greenwashing will enable people to make better choices based on their analysis and not on what they see on marketing sites.
