Business HR (Independent consultants)
Our group events help you to grow as an independent professional and
add to your CPD. We meet several times a year, providing you with a
non-competitive space to share learning, experience and challenges.
Our events also enable you to network and provide you with a platform
for giving and receiving mentoring support as well enabling you to
benefit from professional development opportunities and the latest
relevant insights and research.

Public Policy Panel
Our Public Policy group is for experienced HR professionals who are
interested in policy issues relating to HR, such as employment law, skills,
immigration and gender balance.
Meetings provide an opportunity to share your experience, whilst learning
and networking at the same time. We regularly contribute to the
formation of CIPD policy.
We welcome new people and all meetings are held under the Chatham
House Rule, so that members feel able to express their views.

Special Interest Groups
Organisational Development
Increasing organisational effectiveness and enhancing business
performance in continually changing environments can be challenging and
complex.
Our OD group focuses on bringing you the knowledge to diagnose
underlying issues, challenges, opportunities; and advising you on
understanding and selecting the best approaches to align organisational
strategy, people, processes and systems.
We explore coaching, mentoring, training, group work, facilitation, action
learning, business process re-engineering, performance management,
reward and motivation, cultural change and transformation programmes.

Solo HR Practitioner Group (Member-only)
If you work as the single source of HR expertise within your employing
organisation, without the day-to-day support of a corporate HR
department, our Solo HR Practitioner group is for you.
We provide an opportunity for members to explore challenges and share
solutions to common problems. In addition to providing you with a
knowledge-sharing forum, we also organise practical workshops exploring
key workplace issues and solutions, facilitated by expert speakers.
If you would like to join our member only group, please request an
expression of interest form. We will be announcing new events soon.

Learning & Development
We offer two types of event for trainers and L&D professionals:
• Building L&D Skills
A series of events designed to develop new and refresh key skills for
modern trainers and L&D professionals.
• Cake Camps
Regular themed knowledge-sharing/networking sessions for
trainers and L&D and OD professionals. Facilitated by guest
contributors, our Cake Camps enable you to learn from, and share,
ideas and experience with peers.

Fellows & Senior HR Leaders Group
Now, more than ever before, people professionals need to gather to
debate to keep pace with the new realities of doing business.
Our Fellows group connects senior HR leaders, providing a place for
discussion and debate on important topics.
Often in the form of roundtable events with guest speakers, we encourage
Chartered Fellows, executives in human resources, talent management,
learning & development and leadership development to join us for our
themed forums.

Membership & Upgrading
We are committed to supporting our members in successfully progressing
their membership level and learning more about the benefits of
membership. The CIPD offers so much more than a monthly magazine.
We hold quarterly membership and upgrading events throughout the
year.
During these events, we advise you on who can upgrade, CV screening,
routes available and costs. Attendees also participate in interactive
workshops focused on building CVs and approaching paper, face-to-face
and experience assessments.

Student Group
Whether you are a part or full-time student, looking to start or progress
your career, having somewhere to share your challenges, voice your
opinions and debate with fellow students is worthwhile. You'll learn from
experts on developing essential skills to help you manage the challenges
associated with studying and working in HR.
We want to support you during your academic journey by providing you
with advice on research methods, and guidance on planning and writing
your dissertation. We'll also prepare you to launch your career. In a world
of exponential technology and social media, nothing beats face-to-face
networking and you never know who might be in the room!

  • 8. 8 Special Interest Groups Special Interest Groups Business HR (Independent consultants) Our group events help you to grow as an independent professional and add to your CPD. We meet several times a year, providing you with a non-competitive space to share learning, experience and challenges. Our events also enable you to network and provide you with a platform for giving and receiving mentoring support as well enabling you to benefit from professional development opportunities and the latest relevant insights and research. If you are self-employed, come and join us. Group Lead: Liz Needham Public Policy Panel Our Public Policy group is for experienced HR professionals who are interested in policy issues relating to HR, such as employment law, skills, immigration and gender balance. Meetings provide an opportunity to share your experience, whilst learning and networking at the same time. We regularly contribute to the formation of CIPD policy. We welcome new people and all meetings are held under the Chatham House Rule, so that members feel able to express their views. .   • 9. 9 Special Interest Groups Organisational Development Increasing organisational effectiveness and enhancing business performance in continually changing environments can be challenging and complex. Our OD group focuses on bringing you the knowledge to diagnose underlying issues, challenges, opportunities; and advising you on understanding and selecting the best approaches to align organisational strategy, people, processes and systems. We explore coaching, mentoring, training, group work, facilitation, action learning, business process re-engineering, performance management, reward and motivation, cultural change and transformation programmes. Group Lead: Neal Chamberlain Solo HR Practitioner Group (Member-only) If you work as the single source of HR expertise within your employing organisation, without the day-to-day support of a corporate HR department, our Solo HR Practitioner group is for you. We provide an opportunity for members to explore challenges and share solutions to common problems. In addition to providing you with a knowledge-sharing forum, we also organise practical workshops exploring key workplace issues and solutions, facilitated by expert speakers. If you would like to join our member only group, please request an expression of interest form. We will be announcing new events soon. Group Lead: Sarah Chadbourne
  • 10. 10 Special Interest Groups Learning & Development We offer two types of event for trainers and L&D professionals: • Building L&D Skills A series of events designed to develop new and refresh key skills for modern trainers and L&D professionals. • Cake Camps Regular themed knowledge-sharing/networking sessions for trainers and L&D and OD professionals. Facilitated by guest contributors, our Cake Camps enable you to learn from, and share, ideas and experience with peers. Group Lead: Rachel Burnham Fellows & Senior HR Leaders Group Now, more than ever before, people professionals need to gather to debate to keep pace with the new realities of doing business. Our Fellows group connects senior HR leaders, providing a place for discussion and debate on important topics. Often in the form of roundtable events with guest speakers, we encourage Chartered Fellows, executives in human resources, talent management, learning & development and leadership development to join us for our themed forums.   • 11. 11 Special Interest Groups Membership & Upgrading We are committed to supporting our members in successfully progressing their membership level and learning more about the benefits of membership. The CIPD offers so much more than a monthly magazine. We hold quarterly membership and upgrading events throughout the year. During these events, we advise you on who can upgrade, CV screening, routes available and costs. Attendees also participate in interactive workshops focused on building CVs and approaching paper, face-to-face and experience assessments. Group Lead: Jennifer Hulme Student Group Whether you are a part or full-time student, looking to start or progress your career, having somewhere to share your challenges, voice your opinions and debate with fellow students is worthwhile. You'll learn from experts on developing essential skills to help you manage the challenges associated with studying and working in HR. We want to support you during your academic journey by providing you with advice on research methods, and guidance on planning and writing your dissertation. We'll also prepare you to launch your career. In a world of exponential technology and social media, nothing beats face-to-face networking and you never know who might be in the room!
