Training Asset 4: How to Work With the Kaltura Media Gallery
1- In this session, we will learn the functions of your Kaltura Media Gallery and how to
place the videos created in the Media Gallery into your Sakai Classroom.
2- Start by selecting Media Gallery on the left hand navigation menu.
3- The Media Gallery is where you can manage and edit your uploaded or recorded
multimedia. The tabs Site Library, Collections, and My Media, are the three visible tabs,
and all have different functions.
4- Site Library is your where you can see videos that have already been uploaded to the
APUS Course. These videos have already been placed into the course via the Kaltura
icon within a rich text editor into either the Forums, Assignments, Announcements, or
Lessons.
5- Collections is where you can make packages of multiple videos for easy importing,
storage, or grouping. Creating a collection is an effective way to group multiple videos
relating to the same course / subject together for easy management.
6- My Media is where you can see all of the uploaded and recorded files you have made
using Kaltura.
7- Now that the tabs are explained, let’s go into Site Library, so we can view the various
options present on the toolbar.
8- Downloading, Embedding, Editing the Details, Clipping & Editing the Media, Removing,
and Adding are all available underneath of the video frame. Editing clips via the Site
Library will affect all instances of the video in the course.
9- Once again, the Media Gallery is where you can manage all of your videos. In order to
place the videos you have uploaded or created in your Media Gallery, you will still have
to go to an instance of the rich text editor and place the video using the Kaltura button.
Think of the Media Gallery as the location to manage and edit your videos, while the
Kaltura button in the rich text editor as the way to place them.
Training Asset 3: How to Edit Videos Using Kaltura
1- In this session, we will learn how to edit Kaltura webcam recordings and videos to
shorten the length of a selected clip.
2- To begin, select “Media Gallery” on the left hand menu.
3- Once within the Media Gallery, you can view multimedia you have either created or
uploaded. To edit a clip, select the item on the right hand side, then select “Clip Media”.
4- To begin editing, move the arrow selector to the point where you want to begin your
new clip, then select “Add New Clip”.
5- This will bring up a grey editing bar, which denotes the beginning and ending of your
new clip. If you do not want to use the manual slider, you can also select the start / stop
timers on the top right, and enter in the values for the start and end times. Remember
to also check “Add to Site Library” to get your video to display in your media gallery
menu.

Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

1. SAS Curriculum Pathways: a middle/high school level resource that can be accessed within CIITS. Resources
include lesson plans, video tutorials, interactive activities, real world examples, and more. You can access SAS by
searching instructional materials on the CIITS homepage:

Click the SAS Tab to view results. Click the title of the resource to view.
2. Learn Zillion: Learn Zillion combines over 3600 teacher-made video lessons with accompanying assessment
and progress reporting--and they are all aligned with CCSS. You can explore materials by: 1) viewing offerings at
subject/grade levels, 2) using the “Common Core Navigator” to see content by specific standard, or 3) typing a
general query into the search bar. Visit the resource by clicking the logo on the CIITS homepage, or by going to
www.learnzillion.com. Content covers ELA and Math for grades 2-13.

3. HippoCampus: This is another resource built in to CIITS and available through the logo at the bottom of the
homepage. Features of HippoCampus:
provides multimedia content (animations, simulations, & videos)
focuses on middle school, high school, and college level material
can be used by both teachers and students (at school or home)
subjects include math (arithmetic, algebra & geometry, calculus & advanced math, and
statistics & probability);
students learn by watching videos, reading text, looking at examples, completing exercises, and interacting with
simulations

Images work best when uploaded to CIITS as a .jpeg or .png from your computer. Copy/paste does not always
work.
If you want to use an image from the web that does not have a save function, consider using the snipping tool, then
save the image from the snipping window. It also (sometimes!) works to copy/paste from the snip window.

- Click to access the equation editor in the edit menu bar.

Turn them on when creating the test details and choose from the list.
