This document summarizes research conducted in early 2011 on cloud adoption trends in the UK. The research polled 450 senior IT and business decision-makers from a variety of sectors. The results showed that cloud computing has become a reality, with almost half of organizations surveyed already using some cloud based services. Private sector organizations had higher adoption rates than the public sector. The document aims to analyze cloud adoption levels, drivers for adoption, and satisfaction levels to understand the UK cloud services market.
The document discusses cloud computing definitions, deployment considerations, and diversity. It provides definitions for cloud computing and clarifies that there is no single type of cloud - there are different service delivery models like SaaS, IaaS, and PaaS as well as deployment models like public, private, and hybrid clouds. It also notes that organizations will likely use multiple deployment models to meet their varying needs, combining on-premise, private and public cloud capabilities. Legacy applications, regulations, and other factors influence how IT services are deployed.

Claranet Research Report 2015 - Innovation in European IT (Digital).PDFJames Grisbrook
The document provides an overview of IT trends across six Western European countries based on a survey of 900 IT decision-makers. Some key findings regarding Benelux countries:
- Benelux respondents were most comfortable outsourcing application development and management to third parties compared to other regions.
- They expect to increase outsourcing further, with 71% expecting less in-house application development by 2020 and 31% of their IT estate managed by providers up from 14% currently.
- Primary drivers for using providers were lack of internal skills and cost containment given modest 1% average budget increases, though it could free up time for innovation.
The London Assembly Economy Committee visited Tech City to hear the biggest challenges the sector faces. Led by Tech London Advocates, the Committee visited several organisations, including Unruly, Makers Academy, Centre for London, Technology Will Save Us and Optimity.
The Committee uncovered a number of issues which require urgent attention from the current Mayor, and his successor, if London is to maintain growth in its digital economy.
Using the Downturn to Prepare for the UpturnThink London
The document discusses opportunities for technology companies in London during the economic downturn. It notes that London has a large talent pool, lower property rents, a weaker pound, and lower cost of living. London has over 20,000 IT companies and a large IT workforce. The document promotes London as a hub for accessing the European market and mentions several large technology companies with offices in London.
The document discusses how digitization is transforming businesses and societies across Europe. It argues that some Northern European countries have emerged as digital frontrunners by having more digitized and innovative economies that are heavily dependent on exports and access to large digital markets. These frontrunner countries stand to gain the most from a fully digitized European single market, which could boost their combined GDP by over €250 billion annually by 2020 and create over 1.6 million new jobs. However, progress on digitization in Europe is lagging other regions like Asia, so the frontrunners must provide strong leadership to accelerate digitization across the EU and ensure Europe remains competitive globally in the digital era.

This document describes research conducted to understand how patients seek information after receiving a new medical diagnosis. Contextual inquiries were conducted with 3 patients recently diagnosed with an eye infection, hypothyroidism, and Crohn's disease. Models were developed to summarize the patients' information flows, sequences, physical and cultural contexts. Based on the findings, a vision for a web-based patient education platform called MyHealth Place was proposed. The platform would facilitate reliable information sharing between physicians and patients to address information gaps. Interactive prototypes demonstrated profile settings, medical history, symptom comparisons, and treatment options. Use scenarios showed how the platform could be used after an initial diagnosis and test results appointment. Overall feedback was positive and additional features were suggested.
Capital investment process and kinds and classification of the projectMANAN KHAMBHOLIYA
Capital investment involves spending cash now for returns in the future. There are six steps to the capital investment process: searching for opportunities, screening alternatives, analyzing feasible alternatives, evaluating alternatives, authorizing the project, and implementing and controlling the project. This document summarizes a systematic review of 14 studies examining patients' engagement with personal health records (PHRs). The review found that common barriers to PHR adoption included difficulties with system features, access issues, low computer/health literacy, and the digital divide. Key facilitators were training, staff assistance, system modifications, and communication features. Most studies involved older patients with chronic conditions and low socioeconomic status using tethered PHRs for health management. The review concludes that understanding users' characteristics, abilities, and needs is important for aligning technology with patients to improve PHR adoption.

Introducing and implementing the EUCIP Core training programme can only be efficient and successful if young professionals completing the training have a chance to be employed not only in Europe but also in Hungary. In the framework of the I-TShape project, the Pest County Foundation for Enterprise Promotion (PFEP) undertook to survey Hungarian stakeholders of the economy to assess the infrastructural background of various businesses, the status of this infrastructure, the conditions of its operation and the expectations towards professionals who operate and develop it. The results and conclusions of the survey are important for us, as we can use them in designing a training programme tailored to the needs of the Hungarian market demands that and then integrating it into the vocational training system in Hungary.
