The document outlines the vision, mission, membership, and goals of the International Council for Game and Wildlife Conservation (CIC). CIC's vision is a world that values sustainable hunting for the benefit of people and nature. Its mission is to promote sustainable hunting globally to conserve wildlife and lands, support communities, and preserve hunting heritage. CIC advocates for wildlife conservation through sustainable use and works through four global initiatives: combating wildlife crime; promoting wildlife conservation; partnering with international organizations; and sustaining cultural hunting heritage.

How Sustainable Tourism Protects Marine Life in the UAE
The United Arab Emirates has a very important relationship with the Arabian Gulf, but our actions often create significant hazards to the plentiful marine life and habitats of this country. What can you do to safeguard the UAE’s marine environment?

Wildlife management techniques and methods of wildlife conservationAnish Gawande
Wildlife Conservation is the practice of protecting wild plant and animal species and their habitat. Wildlife plays an important role in balancing the environment and provides stability to different natural processes of nature. The goal of wildlife conservation is to ensure that nature will be around for future generations to enjoy and also to recognize the importance of wildlife and wilderness for humans and other species alike. Many nations have government agencies and NGO's dedicated to wildlife conservation, which help to implement policies designed to protect wildlife. Numerous independent non-profit organizations also promote various wildlife conservation causes.
Wildlife conservation has become an increasingly important practice due to the negative effects of human activity on wildlife. An endangered species is defined as a population of a living species that is in the danger of becoming extinct because the species has a very low or falling population, or because they are threatened by the varying environmental or prepositional parameters.
The conservation of animals is essential for conserving biodiversity and the health of ecosystems. This can be accomplished via a variety of tactics, such as habitat protection and restoration, wildlife trade legislation, invasive species control, support for conservation efforts, public awareness campaigns, and adoption of sustainable behaviours.
1. CIC VISION
A world that values
and supports sustainable hunting
for the benefit of people and nature.
CIC MISSION
To promote - across the globe -
sustainable hunting to conserve wildlife
and wild lands, support communities

advocacy working in the public interest. Our diverse
membership includes states, corporates, universities
and associations. Our core strength rests in dedicated
hunter-conservationist members from all continents.
CIC advocates wildlife conservation across diverse
landscapes through shared incentive-driven use. Our
adaptive management approach is grounded in
cutting-edge science.
CIC values traditional knowledge reflected in mil-
lennia of diverse hunting heritage. The members
uphold and evolve the fundamentals of ethical
hunting.
CIC aims that each generation bequeaths to its suc-

2. Mastering the Future
The four global CIC Initiatives
Combat Wildlife Crime
The fight against wildlife crime is our top priority.
Illegal wildlife use and trafficking threaten wildlife
populations and impact the livelihoods of rural
communities. CIC advocates sustained resolve and
collaboration among nations; building of national
wildlife law enforcement capacity and strategic
communication; joint efforts by hunting and
conservation groups; and strengthening of
international organizations such as CITES, CBD,
CMS, ICCWC and TRAFFIC.
Promote Wildlife Conservation
Worldwide, the ecological balance is under threat
through human development. Expansive wild
landscapes are needed for the survival of entire
ecosystems and their wildlife. Responsible and

Sustain
our Cultural
Heritage
sustainable hunting practices constitute an important
conservation tool for incentive-driven-conservation.
Preserving wild landscapes, e.g. Carpathian
Mountains, Selous-Niassa Complex, Central Asian
Highlands, harnesses economic and societal forces
benefitting people and wildlife.
Partner with International Organizations
CIC has a long tradition of partnership with many
international organizations. CIC is a founding
member of the Collaborative Partnership on
Sustainable Wildlife Management (CPW). This
partnership unites CIC with CBD, CIFOR, CITES, CMS,
IUCN, UNEP, IUFRO, FAO, ITC, TRAFFIC, IIFB & OIE. All
have mandates to cooperate with public and private
partners to promote the conservation and sustainable
use of terrestrial vertebrate wildlife in all biomes and
geographic areas.
Sustain our Global Cultural Heritage
Hunting constitutes arguably the oldest human
activity. It has influenced human development,
culture, religion and social interactions from the
beginnings of human history. Few human activities,
other than hunting, offer a more sustained link
across human civilizations, from the Stone Age to
the Internet Age. This rich and diverse human
heritage needs to be appropriately recognized and
sustained.
