Objective- TeachingHolidaytraditionsto 4th grade students.Thereare 20students:11girlsand9
boys.Thereare2Muslims,3 Jewish,and2 AfricanAmericans.
My4thgrade studentswilllearn thedifferentwaysto celebrateChristmas(accordingto
religion)byresearchingandpresentinganillustratedprojectontheChristmastraditionsofa
religionthatisnottheirown.They willberequiredtofillaposterwithpictures,complete a wiki with a
minimum of 4 pages (including a title page) that will contain the most important information
along with the information needed to go along with their pictures,andthey will alsoneed
tobring in, atleast,twoimportantexampleitemsto sharewiththe class. Thesepresentationswillbe
completedwithin oneweekand thestudentswillhavelearnedthe
manydifferentChristmastraditions with 100%accuracy.
Analyzelearners
Thereare20students intheclass: 11girlsand9boys.There2Muslims,3 Jewish, and2African
Americans.
The studentsare atthelearningleveltodo theresearch thatwill help themfindthe
informationtheyneedtocompletethisassignment. Tomakesuretheyuse the correct
resources to develop their wiki,Iwilluse3-4class daystotakethemto the computerlab
tobegin and finishtheresearch and the wikistogether.
Thislessonwillappealtoauditoryand kinestheticlearners,andwillalsoincorporategroup
discussions.

Bytheendofthis lesson,thestudentswill knowthedifferenttraditionsthatareusedto
celebrateChristmasaccordingtothereligionthatonepractices.

Methods-Iwillbrieflyintroduceanoverviewofour topicusingashortexplanation.The
studentswill thenbegin topresenttheirprojectsone-by-one.

posterboards,pictures,andphysicalobjectsbroughtinbythestudents willbeused
toteachthelesson.
UtilizeMediaandMaterials
PreviewingtheMaterials-I will visiteach student’s desk individually tomakesurehe/shehas
cometoclass preparedas instructedintheassignment’sdirections.
PreparingtheMaterials-The studentswillpreparethematerialsthatwillbeused tolearninthe
assignment.
PreparingtheEnvironment-I will makesurethestudent’s desks arearrangedproperlytoview
thefrontoftheclassroomwithnoproblem;clearingthefrontof the classroomof all
thingsexcludingasmall table to accommodatetheillustratedposters. I will also provide online
access on my class computer so that we can bring each student’s wiki up for the entire class it
on the larger screen within the classroom.
PreparingtheLearners-Each dayof presentations,I willgivethestudentsanoverviewof who
