Google expanded Chromecast globally in the second half of 2013. Chromecast sales grew quickly, not due to extensive marketing but because the product was cheap and easy to use. YouTube was a main driver of early Chromecast adoption as it provided integrated content and Google wanted to expand YouTube's presence on more screens. Chromecast's simple design and ease of use also contributed to its success compared to other similar streaming devices.
