Google's YouTube is still significantly larger than Facebook for digital video viewing. YouTube delivers over 46,000 years of video viewing daily globally compared to Facebook which delivers over 5,625 years daily. While Facebook video viewing is growing quickly, YouTube remains much bigger in terms of total daily video consumption worldwide. The document examines data on viewing habits, audience demographics, and platform usage to determine which company is better positioned to capture a larger share of the $600 billion global digital advertising market, which is increasingly moving to online video.
Google was founded in 1998 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin while they were PhD students at Stanford University. It provides a variety of internet-related products and services including search, advertising, cloud computing, and software. Alot of the suggestions i make were actually enacted by Google in the years that followed. You can call it coincidence.
Google was founded in 1995 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin as students at Stanford University. They developed the first search engine called BackRub in 1996 which was not very successful. In 1997, they created Google which takes its name from the mathematical term "googol" meaning 1 followed by 100 zeros. By the end of 1998, Google was named one of the top 100 websites. Google went public on the NASDAQ in 2004 with stock opening at $85 per share. Google is now a highly profitable company with revenues of over $23 billion in 2009.
Google started as a search engine created by Larry Page and Sergey Brin at Stanford University. It grew to become a multinational technology company called Alphabet Inc. that operates services such as Google Search, Maps, Gmail, Android, and YouTube. Google has offices worldwide and made $58.8 billion in revenue in 2013. Notable successes include popularizing web searching and making "Google" a verb, as well as the growth of Android into a leading smartphone platform. Google faced a privacy scandal over unauthorized tracking cookies but paid $40 million to resolve lawsuits over the issue. It is researching projects like Project Loon to expand internet access using high-altitude balloons.
Google was founded in 1998 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin as a research project at Stanford University. It provides internet-related products and services including search, advertising, and software. Some of its most popular products are Gmail, Google Chrome, Google Maps, Google Translate, and Google Talk. Google is the most used search engine and web browser worldwide.

Microsoft, Apple, and Google are competing to dominate the internet experience through their mobile platforms and devices. Microsoft's flagship product is the Windows operating system and it also produces the Office suite and Xbox gaming console. Apple designs consumer electronics like the Mac, iPhone, and iPad and their operating systems include Mac OS X and iOS. Google's main revenue comes from online advertising and it leads in internet search. It also produces the Android mobile operating system and Chrome OS. Mobile applications, app stores, and the debate over closed vs open platforms will be crucial in determining which company shapes the future internet experience the most.
Week 3 power point slide -3-case study 3-apple, google, and microsoft battle...Zulkifflee Sofee
Microsoft, Apple, and Google are competing to dominate the internet experience through their mobile platforms and devices. Microsoft's flagship product is the Windows operating system for PCs, while Apple focuses on proprietary hardware and closed software ecosystems. Google's strength is in online advertising and services like search, and it promotes open platforms through Android. Mobile applications and app stores are increasingly important as consumers demand more functionality on mobile. Whichever company can provide the most seamless experience across devices while maintaining openness and innovation may prevail in this ongoing battle.

Dandelion Hashtable: beyond billion requests per second on a commodity serverAntonios Katsarakis
This slide deck presents DLHT, a concurrent in-memory hashtable. Despite efforts to optimize hashtables, that go as far as sacrificing core functionality, state-of-the-art designs still incur multiple memory accesses per request and block request processing in three cases. First, most hashtables block while waiting for data to be retrieved from memory. Second, open-addressing designs, which represent the current state-of-the-art, either cannot free index slots on deletes or must block all requests to do so. Third, index resizes block every request until all objects are copied to the new index. Defying folklore wisdom, DLHT forgoes open-addressing and adopts a fully-featured and memory-aware closed-addressing design based on bounded cache-line-chaining. This design offers lock-free index operations and deletes that free slots instantly, (2) completes most requests with a single memory access, (3) utilizes software prefetching to hide memory latencies, and (4) employs a novel non-blocking and parallel resizing. In a commodity server and a memory-resident workload, DLHT surpasses 1.6B requests per second and provides 3.5x (12x) the throughput of the state-of-the-art closed-addressing (open-addressing) resizable hashtable on Gets (Deletes).

Being from partners to rivals, Apple is one of the toughest
opponents for Google in the year 2010. Today, Apple and Google
have been locking their horns in the field of Smartphone, Mobile App
Store, OS, Mobile Ad, and Online Music and so on.
Likewise, Apple is more than up to the task of battling Google in these
areas as well as browsers, where Google Chrome competes against
Apple Safari. But battle between will intensify, as the market for the
digital music and smartphones is all set for growth in 2010. google’s
music search along with its partner MySpace and Pandora are looking to
compete with apple’s itunes, which was the no 1 music retailer in united
states in 2009. further, google’s android will have tough time as apple’s
iPhones continues to grab hold of the market all round the globe
1. APPLE
17. 2. MICROSOFT
Microsoft has one of the most dominant impact in the IT industry. So
without a douBt it is google’s Biggest adversary in 2010 and these two
giants will be locking their horns for market supremacy in areas such
as search, collaboration tools and browsers
Talking of these two giants, Google has reigned as leaders in
search, but with release of BING in May 2009, Microsoft has raised few
questions amongst in google’s management team. with features such as
ranking search results based on relevancy to other users, Microsoft
has linked Bing-related deals with Twitter, Facebook and Yahoo.
Microsoft have enhanced Bing, adding image search and mapping. But in
response Google have unveiled real time search. In December, Google
also added a photo search capability, a dictionary and a translator
that finds relevant content in 40 languages. Entering 2010, Google still
dominates search, with more than 70% of the market. Apart from
search, the battle is likely to focus on cloud based collaboration tool.

in 2009, google’s effort of scanning millions of out-of-print books and
incorporating them in online search did gain up some momentum and helped
themselves to publish over 500000 digital books for free to customers of

browse battle. Mozilla has been in the markets for years and now this
step from Google is likely to create the conflict of interest between
these two.
Of late, the war between the two has heated up even more. The battle
has now gone to the default search. Mozilla now has shown intent to kick
Google out from its default search engine status. The latest rumours on
the internet show that Mozilla is now eyeing to get a deal with Microsoft
to make Bing as its default search engine in Firefox
20. 6 YAHOO
when it comes to search, one of google’s Biggest competitors Besides
Microsoft is Yahoo. Yahoo has been in the market with variety of
products in areas of email, Messenger, News, Search and Analytics
