I'm a counseling psychologist with demonstrated effectiveness in teaching, research, supervision of training counselors, and clinical work. Research: As a psychologist with a generalist health service education, my research interests largely orbit mental wellness from the perspectives of community psychology and identity development. My current line of research concerns investigating the intersections of faith/belief, community, and well-being in college students. How does meaning-making effect depression and anxiety? How should colleges approach community-building for secular students? Related to this line of research, I am in the midst of developing and validating a psychological measure of religious and spiritual community connection.eaching: As a first-generation college student, core to my identity as an instructor is involving students in research and other professional development activities. I have a history of actively recruiting both undergraduate and graduate students in research activities, from presenting at national conferences to co-authoring refereed manuscripts. Clinical: While a generalist practitioner, my specific clinical interests include: trainee counselor development (e.g., clinical supervision), addiction counseling (substance, process, and dual-diagnosis), group therapy, psychological assessment (AD/HD, ASD), and issues of faith/doubt.
