CHRISTMAS
Christmas is a day of celebration for all ChristiansWe celebrate the birth of our Savior Jesus ChristBut unfortunately most of us miss the whole point of this celebration to the extent that preparation for festivities take precedence over the reason for the celebration
WHAT DO WE ACTUALLY CELEBRATE AT CHRISTMAS?
Most would answer the Birth of Jesus as the reason why we celebrate ChristmasYes…but there is much more to Christmas
If it is just the birth of Jesus then it is too mundane as we celebrate our parents…our children's and friends birthdays…some countries celebrate the birthdays of leaders……therefore Christmas is not just a birthday celebration.
There are much more reasons as to why we should celebrate Christmas1. It is the celebration of the birth of Jesus our savior2.It is a celebration of a new beginning for all humanity 3.It is the celebration of the possibility availed by Jesus for the redemption of our sins - A NEW START4.the celebration of the gift of Jesus' teaching – the gospel of gods kingdom – THE PATH
Celebration of the Birth of our SaviorLuke 2:11Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.."John 4:12They said to the woman, "we no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the savior of the world."
CELEBRATION OF A NEW BEGINNING - FOR ALL HUMANITYJesus has given a unique possibility of a new beginning to all mankindAn opportunity to leave behind the negative influences on your life and start a new life altogetherBecause of the birth of Jesus heralded the victory of light over darkness –giving humanity the ability to pry ourselves out of the vice grip of evil that has plagued humanity since the very beginning. An opportunity to start a new life. We celebrate this possibility…
A CELEBRATION OF REDEMPTIONWith the birth of Jesus we have been availed the possibility of redemption for our sins – a unique possibility for ChristiansBy believing in him as our personal savior and through repentance we have been given the possibility of forgiveness for our sinsA fresh start to leave our baggage behind and commence our journey seeking godWe celebrate the redemption from our sins
A CELEBRATION OF THE GIFT BROUGHT TO US BY JESUS - THE PATH TO REACH GODS KINDOMWe all have direct access to the gift that was brought to us by JesusHis teachings and the directions to Gods Kingdom is found in the Gospels of the New Testament. To bring us this gift Jesus had to finally endure humilation, suffering and crucifixion – He gave His life for you and me.We celebrate the revelation of the Path to Gods Kingdom that was made posible by the birth of Jesus
THE GREATEST GIFT EVER…Over the years Christmas has turned out to be a time of giving gifts and presents to our loved onesWe try to reciprocate the greatest gift that man has ever received in Jesus ChristWe must remember that it is not only for our loved ones, we have to reach out to others who may be in need as told to us by JesusIt always need not be monetary… it can be love, care, kind thought… a prayer for an unknown person… That is the least that we could do this Christmas Season because this way we can try to reciprocate the greatest gift to Humanity
