2. Introduction
If you walked into a toy store a few years ago, there’d be a
70% chance for you to pick up a toy that says “Made In
China”.
This is because every 7 out of 10 toys were a “Made in
China” tag sticking out of it.
Indian toy makers were not even in the picture.
It was pretty disappointing for a region that made toys for a
region that boasted a rich history in toymaking, dating back
to the Indus Valley civilization, this was a bit of a shame.
Now we’ll be looking more into this topic.
3. How did Chinese toys come into Indian
Markets?
Chinese manufacturers learned of an opportunity to export toys to India, where
toys are sold at high prices.
As a result of trade, Chinese toys flood into Indian Markets.
Chinese manufacturers started exporting plastic toys to India.
Indian Buyers now have a choice to buy either Indian toys or Chinese toys.
Within a year, 70-80% of the toy shops have replaced Indian toys with Chinese
toys.
Therefore toys are now cheaper in the Indian markets.
4. Why are Chinese toys more popular than
Indian ones?
There are several reasons why Chinese toys are more popular
in Indian markets. They are:
1. Chinese toys have cheap prices and new designs.
2. In the competition between Indian and Chinese toys, Chinese
toys prove better since they have a great choice of toys at
lower prices than Indian ones.
