China's economy grew at 11.9% in the first quarter, which some see as overheating. To cool growth and control inflation, China is implementing measures like increasing downpayment requirements for housing loans to at least 50% of the purchase price and restricting access to second and third housing loans. A more flexible monetary policy could also help China maintain inflation control as property prices rose almost 12% in March from the previous year.
