a)Agree house rules about using the Internet and personal devices, give attention to
issues of privacy, age inappropriate places, bullying and stranger danger
b) Agree rules for mobile use
c) Parents be familiar with the Internet sites used by your children (i.e. services and
products offered by Internet sites).
d) Investigate online resources for further information about online safety and how to
use the Internet in a positive way.
e)Understand how children use other personal devices such as mobile phones, games
consoles, MP3 players and PDAs

which a company or web site can ask a
young person to provide personal
information about themselves without
first obtaining verifiable parental
consent

Consider filtering and blocking or monitoring
programs.
Explain what software does and why you are
using it to your children.
 Ensure your children keep confidential any
relevant passwords linked to these
programmes safe.
AGE VERIFICATION FOR ONLINE PURCHASES
OF GOODS AND SERVICES
Ensure varifiable systems are available to
guarantee age verification at the point of
sale for purchases online.
Carefully track your child’s spending
online.
CONTENT MODERATION
TOOLS
Ensure Internet site moderates conversations
with automatic filters and human monitoring.
Does the site review all photographs and videos
that are posted on it?
Block access to undesirable content or services?
CHECK CONTRACTUAL
FLEXIBILITY
Check how to delete an account – even if this
will result in the forfeiture of subscription fees.
If the service will not allow an account to be
deleted, consider not using it, or blocking
access to it.
Report such inability to delete to local
EDUCATE YOUR CHILDREN
Explain guidelines and rules of the virtual
world.
Educate your children not to reply to rude
messages and to avoid sex talk online.
Teach them not to open any attachment or
link they receive while chatting with others
because it might contain harmful content
MEETINGS
Children are to use Internet sites only to communicate with their offline friends,
Do not meet with strangers unescorted by a parent or trusted adult .
Ensure the first meeting is in a public place that is well lit and has plenty of other people
around if it cant be avoided.
Prevent children from sharing personally identifiable information about themselves.
Children should not be allowed to use webcams or to upload any content without approval of
parent, guardian or responsible adult.
Encourage your children not to post photographs of themselves or their friends
with clearly identifiable details such as street signs, license plates on cars,
or the name of their school.
CHECK YOUR CHILD’S PAGE OR PROFILE
Check your children’s page on a
regular basis.
Log on to view your children’s account
history.
 Set your children's chat mode to a level
you are comfortable with.
ENSURE CHILDREN DO NOT USE FULL NAMES
Ensure Children replace real names
with nicknames online.
Children should not post full names of
their friends or any other information
which could be used to identify them,
such as, residential addresses, school
location, telephone numbers, sports
clubs, etc
COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR CHILDREN
ABOUT THEIR EXPERIENCES
 Review regularly your children activities/discussion online.
 Encourage your children to tell you if something they encounter on
the Internet makes them feel uncomfortable or threatened.
 Do not overreact when your children shares their experience with
you.
 Stay calm regardless of what they tell you
 get all the facts, and then take action.
 Praise your child for trusting you.
 Ensure children can report abusers.

  • 2. Are you a generation Z or generation Alfa parent? Concerned about your children love for this generation toys like Phones, Laptops, IPad, games ETC Are you concerned about their safety online and would really love to keep them safe?
  • 3. GENERATION Z/ALFA TOYS ACCESS TO THE INTERNET Desktop computers, Laptops, IPad etc mobile phones games consoles Easy access to broadband connections and the Internet while at school, at home, in the library, at an Internet café, a fast-food outlet, a youth club or even travelling to school on public transport.
  • 4. SAFETY & SECURITY OF YOUR PERSONAL COMPUTER  Keep the computer in a common room  Install firewall and antivirus software
  • 5. Rules a)Agree house rules about using the Internet and personal devices, give attention to issues of privacy, age inappropriate places, bullying and stranger danger b) Agree rules for mobile use c) Parents be familiar with the Internet sites used by your children (i.e. services and products offered by Internet sites). d) Investigate online resources for further information about online safety and how to use the Internet in a positive way. e)Understand how children use other personal devices such as mobile phones, games consoles, MP3 players and PDAs
  • 6. PARENTAL CONSENT Check for specific minimum age at which a company or web site can ask a young person to provide personal information about themselves without first obtaining verifiable parental consent
  • 7. INTERNET SITES FEATURES REVIEW Consider filtering and blocking or monitoring programs. Explain what software does and why you are using it to your children.  Ensure your children keep confidential any relevant passwords linked to these programmes safe.
  • 8. AGE VERIFICATION FOR ONLINE PURCHASES OF GOODS AND SERVICES Ensure varifiable systems are available to guarantee age verification at the point of sale for purchases online. Carefully track your child’s spending online.
  • 9. CONTENT MODERATION TOOLS Ensure Internet site moderates conversations with automatic filters and human monitoring. Does the site review all photographs and videos that are posted on it? Block access to undesirable content or services?
  • 10. CHECK CONTRACTUAL FLEXIBILITY Check how to delete an account – even if this will result in the forfeiture of subscription fees. If the service will not allow an account to be deleted, consider not using it, or blocking access to it. Report such inability to delete to local
  • 11. EDUCATE YOUR CHILDREN Explain guidelines and rules of the virtual world. Educate your children not to reply to rude messages and to avoid sex talk online. Teach them not to open any attachment or link they receive while chatting with others because it might contain harmful content
  • 12. MEETINGS Children are to use Internet sites only to communicate with their offline friends, Do not meet with strangers unescorted by a parent or trusted adult . Ensure the first meeting is in a public place that is well lit and has plenty of other people around if it cant be avoided. Prevent children from sharing personally identifiable information about themselves. Children should not be allowed to use webcams or to upload any content without approval of parent, guardian or responsible adult. Encourage your children not to post photographs of themselves or their friends with clearly identifiable details such as street signs, license plates on cars, or the name of their school.
  • 13. CHECK YOUR CHILD’S PAGE OR PROFILE Check your children’s page on a regular basis. Log on to view your children’s account history.  Set your children's chat mode to a level you are comfortable with.
  • 14. ENSURE CHILDREN DO NOT USE FULL NAMES Ensure Children replace real names with nicknames online. Children should not post full names of their friends or any other information which could be used to identify them, such as, residential addresses, school location, telephone numbers, sports clubs, etc
  • 15. COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR CHILDREN ABOUT THEIR EXPERIENCES  Review regularly your children activities/discussion online.  Encourage your children to tell you if something they encounter on the Internet makes them feel uncomfortable or threatened.  Do not overreact when your children shares their experience with you.  Stay calm regardless of what they tell you  get all the facts, and then take action.  Praise your child for trusting you.  Ensure children can report abusers.
