From Diabetes to Cancer and all other auto-immune diseases, there is one cause. Its leaky gut. It is caused by abuse of small intestine by modern food system and lifestyle. The “net” in your digestive tract gets damaged!
This allows unwanted proteins (like gluten), bad bacteria, toxins and undigested particles to pass into your blood stream. Then it leads systemic inflammation and an auto-immune reaction over time.
Food supplies both nutrients and calories (energy). All calories come from only three elements: carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. Micronutrients, on the other hand, are noncaloric food factors, such as vitamins, minerals, fibers, and phytochemicals. These noncaloric nutrients are vitally important for good health. The key to optimizing your health and achieving your ideal body weight is to eat predominantly those foods that have a relatively high proportion of nutrients (noncaloric food factors) to calories (carbohydrates, fats, and proteins).
We all want to feel alive and energetic, look forward to each new day and enjoy optimum health. To accomplish this, each of us must assume responsibility for our own well-being. Food is vital to our health. It provides the building blocks for growth and repair, and fuel for energy. It is a key element in the length and quality of life.
The objective of this presentation is to give you a basic understanding of nutrition, to help you decide which foods are the best to select, to inform you of the harmful foods which cause disease, and beneficial foods which helps prevent disease.
Whether you already are a vegetarian or just exploring alternatives, this seminar is for you! Learn about the benefits of a vegetarian diet, the types of vegetarianism, the common nutrient deficiencies and how to be a healthy, well-nourished vegetarian at any age. We will also focus on the special needs of vegetarians during pregnancy, breast-feeding, infancy, childhood and adolescence.
Presented by Dr. Lisa Watson, a vegetarian for over 25 years and the mother of two vegetarian children.

Most TV channels and media houses havetight deadlines and limited understanding which sometimes make it difficult to provide a thorough report. Hungry for the latest news, the media often report scientific findings prematurely, without benefit of careful interpretation, replication, and peer review. Usually, the reports present findings from a single, recently released study, making the news current and controversial. Consequently, the public receives diet and health news quickly, but not always in perspective. Reporters may twist in conclusive findings into "meaningful discoveries" because writing catchy headlines and sensational stories have become a norm today.
As a result, "surprising new findings" seem to contradict one another, and consumers feel frustrated and betrayed. Occasionally, the reports are downright false, but more often the apparent contradictions are simply the normal result of science at work. A single study contributes to the big picture, but when viewed alone, it can easily distort the image. To be meaningful, the conclusions of any study must be presented cautiously within the context of other research findings.

With the ever-changing trends in foods sometimes it can be hard to keep up with the latest details. A huge focus has shifted to the incorporation of “superfoods” into every diet, but many are confused by the terminology and what it means to qualify as a part of this group.
What is Raw Food ?
The dictionary definition says it all : Raw / uncooked; being natural condition; not processed or refined. Since uncooked, unprocessed and unrefined foods are alive until the moment we eat them, they give us that same energy, that vital life-force that increases our health and make us strong and vibrant.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
