Common Category Of Cardiac Arrhythmias
Introduction
Atrial Fibrillation
Atrial Fibrillation (AF) known to be the common category of cardiac arrhythmias. It is mainly due
to the rate or rhythm abnormalities of the heart and is a type of supraventricular tachycardia (SVT).
Rapid and irregular heart beating is a characteristic sign of atrial fibrillation. It is of significance
since it a high risk of leading to thromboembolic events, heart failure and mortality (1).
The prevalence of atrial fibrillation globally has increased significantly to about 2 3% in the
population. Since the risk of atrial fibrillation increases significantly with age, due to multiple co
morbidities, the UK s increasing elderly population has a marked increase in incidences of atrial
fibrillation (2).
Complications
Patients with on going atrial fibrillation have been shown to have an increased risk of
thromboembolic events. The clots that can be formed in the heart during atrial fibrillation can
easily travel and obstruct blood vessels, leading to tissue ischemia, thus causing severe organ
damage such as a Pulmonary Embolus or stoke. It is highly recommend that patients with atrial
fibrillation undergo anticoagulation therapy with drugs that help thin the blood such as Warfarinto
help prevent clot formation. These drugs come with serious side effects such bleeding in the brain
that can lead to complications or even death.
Treatments methods
Since 1954 Warfarin, a vitamin K antagonist (VKAs) has been the Gold standard anticoagulant

Eating Disorders are a Mental Illness
Eating disorders are mental illnesses that involve an obsession with food, extremely unhealthy
eating behaviors and a distorted body image. They are complicated, serious disorders. The group
that eating disorders affects the most are typically girls through the ages of sixteen and twenty
years old. Although teenage eating disorders are typically believed to be caused by depression or
genetic factors, social media has worsened the problem by the huge increase in peer pressure girls
endure due to the widespread use of sites such as Twitter and Instagram. Eating disorders are real,
complex and devastating conditions that can have serious consequences for health, productivity and
relationships. The two most common... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When social media and the internet became a big thing, all different online weight groups began to
develop. Some of these groups became known as Pro Ana, Pro Mia and Pro ED, which are short for
Pro Anorexia, Pro Bulimia and Pro Eating Disorders (Wanchisn 1). These terms are used to
describe online websites where eating disorder behaviors and attitudes are encouraged greatly. On
these sites, users are encouraged to lose weight to be part of that exclusive online community.
Some initially appear friendly and happy. However, they can pose a serious threat to some
individuals, not simply because they promote eating disorder behaviors, but because they build a
community that is unhealthy and unstable. They persuade young girls that the Pro Ana community
is providing caring and nurturing advice, however it is really creating an unhealthy environment
(Wanchisn 3). Now Pro Ana content appears in more places and in more formats, such as blogs
and social networking websites. It s also increasingly more difficult to detect Pro Ana sites. Many
are disguised as positive websites where people motivate each other lose weight together and the
anorexic theme is hidden behind nice comments. They come together behind the theme of
thinspiration, giving out their own tips and tricks to lose excessive weight. In June 2010,
researchers from Johns Hopkins studied the content of 180 sites they discovered

Gym Class
I tightly gripped the blue, plastic, slippery, twig (hockey stick) in my sweaty, sticky hands when I
swung the tiny, orange, plastic puck into the goal. The opposing team s goalie, with sweat
dripping down his face and fear in his eyes, gave me the dirtiest look anyone could have ever
imagined. I soon realized, I had just won the hockey gameduring gym class. All the confused
stares and silent but noticeable whispers lead me to question what was all the hot gossip. I
achingly trudged down the toxic, smelly stairwell which led me to the reeking, strong smell of
sweat in the girl s locker room. Sounds of giggling, and perfume being spritzed; the loud slamming
of lockers as the girls finish changing their clothes, and the horsing around that... Show more

Gym class would always start with the same routine of changing into different clothes in the locker
room, and preparing your mindset to sweat.
Hannah! Did you by any chance bring an extra pair of gym shorts today? Kaelyn asked me with a
slight look of hope in her eyes.
No Kaelyn... why would I bring two pairs of gym shorts? It s not like I m going to wet myself or
anything, I stated. I crushed her small sense of hope.
I m freaking out because I forgot my shorts, and all I have are these black sweatpants that I am
currently wearing. I ll sweat way too much if I wear these for gym! To be honest, I m already
sweating buckets, said Kaelyn as she was twirling her wavy brunette hair and biting her already
short nails nervously.
The door keeps frantically slamming shut as the overly hyper girls leave the dull looking locker
room.
Let s go guys! shouted a petite, quiet girl.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, we re coming Ashlyn. Kaelyn and I both said as we started moseying towards
the door. Everyone else was already up there and waiting to start.
You, in the red shorts and Reeboks, get up here! And you in the pink and purple horizontal striped
shirt and light up Sketchers, you too, said my gym teacher Mr. Beavers. We hurried to the gym.
It was the shy girl s, Kahri, and outgoing Ben s turn to lead us in the warm ups for today.

How Does Chaucer Use Clothing In Literature
Chaucer s Use of Clothing: an Effective Rhetorical Device
In Literature, as in real life, characters are sometimes judged by their appearance. The description of
clothing provides detail and comment on those wearing them. Chaucer s uses of artifice in The
Canterbury Tales function as gauges of the social status and economic wealth, and emotional
condition of each pilgrim. Artifice effectively provides a badge of humanity, symbolic of each
character s fallibility. Yet clothing simultaneously imposes upon the characters literary stereotypes,
which they consequentially adopt. Unable to transcend these ascribed roles, the pilgrims sometimes
find themselves bound by literary stereotypes and narrative function, which they tend to fulfill ...

Jean Piaget Research Paper
Jean Piaget, great pioneer of development psychology, is known for being one of the first to
figure out that children function a lot differently than adults. He believed that children are
actively processing their understanding of the world as they grow and that this happens in
different stages, which led to the cognitive development theory. Piaget proposed 4 stages of
cognitive development, which refer to the sensorimotor stage (0 2 years), the preoperational
stage (2 7 years), the concrete operational stage (7 11 years) and the formal operational stage
(12+ years). The age period at which each stage takes place is approximate. One has to complete
the present stage to be able to go to the next. Every child will not complete the stage during the
stated age bracket. In fact, some of them may never... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During this stage, children are learning to talk and develop grammar. Children also begin to
pretend play, which proves that they are able to use symbols to symbolise objects. At this stage,
Piaget considered children to be ego centric and it may be relevant as at that age, children cannot
understand that people may have a different opinion that they do and think that they should always
be the centre of attention. Piaget used a technique to demonstrate ego centrism in children and it is
known as the three mountain task . Children are shown a three dimensional display of a mountain
scene and are then to choose a picture that showed the scene they had observed. Most children are
able to do this with little difficulty. Next, children are asked to select a picture showing what
someone else would have observed when looking at the mountain from a different viewpoint.
Invariably, children almost always choose the scene showing their own view of the mountain scene.
According to Piaget, children experience this difficulty because they are unable to take on another
person s perspective. (Cherry,

Imine Synthesis Lab Report
The underlying principles of the imine synthesis reactions include isomerization, pH values, and
the importance of acids as catalysts. Imine formation begins with either an alkene or aldehyde that
then produces alkenes isomers.7 Imine formation generally produces a mixture of products with
E or Z conformation. This conformation is more commonly denoted as cis or trans. The trans
product, or E, forms when the highest priority groups are on opposite sides of the alkene double
bond, which is the more stable of the two conformations due to a lack of steric interaction wherein
the molecules are more separated allowing for free rotation about the double bond. In contrast, the
cis, or Z, alkene occurs when the highest priority groups are on the same side of the double bond,
but the energy is not evenly distribution in the molecule,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Melting point analysis was also used to further understand and characterize the reaction mixtures

Gender And Dress Code In Public School
Madison Dixon

English Comp. I
November 8, 2017
Gender and Dress Code High school dress codes are rules for clothing that is deemed either
appropriate or inappropriate to wear to school. Standard codes in public schools, that don t have
uniforms, typically require students to have sleeved garments and leg wear that is a certain length.
At some schools, the term leg wear doesn t include leggings, while other schools permit leggings as
long as your shirt or other clothing reaches the length that shorts are required to meet. After
attending five public schools, three of which during my high school career, I can verify that these
were typically the enforced rules. All schools also had rules against hats and certain headgear,
though exceptions would sometimes be made, such as in the case of spirit week. My most
recent school has, for the most part, been very relaxed about dress codes. Most of the rules are
simply to maintain a piece of decency among the students. The code basically calls for
undergarments to remain concealed, provocative skin can t be shown, shirts must have sleeves,
and leg wear must be longer than your fingertips with your hands at your sides. However, there
are some inconsistencies with dress codes that I have noticed and can t seem to understand.
There seems to be lenience for boys when it comes to the enforcement of dress codes. Of course,
boys don t have a tendency to wear track shorts or tank tops to school. However, I ve been coded for

Let the Right One in Analysis Essay
BONDING THROUGH EXILE:
An Analysis of Mise en ScГЁne in Let the Right One In
The theme of loneliness and isolation has been predominant in cinema since its inception, but
Tomas Alfredson explores the idea in a unique way in his 2008 Swedish romantic horror film, Let
the Right One In. Set in the snowy winter of Stockholm, the film depicts the similarly cold and
depressing life of Oskar, a young target of bullying. This frozen, barren setting contributes to the
complete isolation that the viewer feels with the characters. Through strategic shot composition and
specific color and mood choices, Alfredson shows how both Oskar and Eli are cut off from the
world in different ways, and then how their common bloodlust brings them together. ... Show more

The camera slowly pans around the playground, showing the bland walls of the apartment complex
surrounding it to amplify their sense of overwhelming loneliness. Oskar, wanting to find a
companion in Eli, provides her with his rubik s cube to solve. The rubik s cube can also be seen
as Eli providing an answer to Oskar s problems. Both his life and his rubik s cube are puzzles that
need solving, and Eli literally drops in to solve everything for him. This early scene sets the tone
for the rest of the movie and establishes both the characters as lonely outcasts that need to be saved.
As the relationship between Oskar and Eli continues to blossom, Oskar finds out that Eli lives
off blood to survive. After this realization, there is a scene where Eli arrives at Oskar s house.
Oskar attempts to let her in by motioning and gesturing but she refuses to cross the threshold. She
finally enters without his permission, causing her to bleed from every opening on her face,
turning her into a grotesque image of her true vampiric form. This causes Oskar to give her
permission to enter. This scene symbolizes the finality of the relationship between Oskar and Eli.
Eli is a violent murderer, and Oskar has violent ambitions, and this is the moment where Eli
attempts to turn those ambitions into reality. The way the shots of Oskar and Eli are composed

The Key Concepts Within Modern File Systems
2Abstract
This essay will discuss the key concepts within modern file systems, ranging from simply defining
what a filesystem is, to detailing what exactly a file consists of. Historical developments within file
systems and storage technologies will be outlined, and state of the art file system features will be
described.
3Introduction
Procrustes was an ancient Attican malefactor who forced wayfarers to lie on an iron bed and
either stretched or cut short each person s legs to fit the bed s length. Finally Procrustes was forced
onto his own bed by Thesius.
A similar Procrustean technique was applied to filesystems and data storage for many years.

By separating the data into identifiable blocks, the information can be easily located. (1) Each
grouping of data, which takes its name from the method of organising paper based information, is
referred to as a file . The file system is comprised of two specific parts: a collection of files and a
directory structure, which provides data about and organises all of the files in the file system. (3)
Some filesystems will be used on local data storage devices, whereas others provide access over a
network, through a network protocol such as NFS. (2)
A filesystem can refer to an entire storage system or part of an isolated segment of storage, i.e. a
disk partition. The word filesystem can be used to refer to a partition or disk that is used to
store files or as part of the description of the type of filesystem in use. For example, one could say
this is an extended filesystem in reference to the type of filesystem in use, or I have three
filesystems meaning that one has three partitions on which one can store files. (4) There is an
incredibly important difference between a disk or partition and the filesystem that it contains.
Some programs will operate directly on sectors of a disk or partition, so they could desolate or
seriously corrupt any current filesystem. However, most programs operate at the filesystem level,
and subsequently will not operate correctly on a disk or partition that either does not contain a

How Religion Has Influenced The Life Of A Nun
By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another? (Jn
13:35)What is a committed religious life for being a Catholic sister or nun. Catholic sister and nuns
have a different variation of lifestyle, ministries and callings. All community has its own peculiar
identity and flavor, this is because there are no two association, as there is no two nuns that are the
same. As we watch movies about nuns we sometimes predict sisters and nuns to be living a highly
ordered life which is unchanging in structure which is repetitive in context. But the truth is that
there may be some regular customs and practices, a day in Catholic sister and nunlife as it is
diverse, especially as the Holy Spirit is in charge.
As a day in a life of nuns are constructed around service within the chapel because by joining a
convent or nunnery, nuns have to make a choice to devote their life to God. Religion has influenced
the life of a nun. A lot of convents do have its own particular daily timetable for a nun as many do
the following similarly:
the first day of services 02.00: Matins Laud
After Matins Laud, nuns would go back to bed and would get up again at first light. She then
would go and wash and have a breakfast which consist of bread and beer. This is because of the
boiling process involved in the making of beer.( it was a lot less dangerous to drink beer than water.)

As opposed to conviction, there are different alternatives in which to hold property. The degree and
sort of property venture, one wishes to have is to a great extent dictated by the level of individual

individual association as juxtaposed to putting resources into an occasion home. For the normal

How Is Strategic Bombing Justified
Strategic bombing is a military strategy used in a total war with the goal of defeating the enemy
by destroying its morale or its economic ability to produce and transport materiel to the theatres of
military operations. This tactic was used by the United States and Britain against the Germans and
Japanese in World War II. Strategic bombing is debated on whether the United States and Britain
were justified in using it. The United States and Britain used strategic bombing to protect their
people from fascist dictators and were justified in doing so. In the beginning of World War II, air
forces only attacked militarytargets. This changed once the German Luftwaffe began conducting
air raids on British cities, including London, during the summer of 1940, (The Editors of
Encyclopædia Britannica). Strategic bombing soon became a main part of military combat. It
was seen to be in the best interest of the country s side in the war. To the British, bombing
German cities was a type of revenge. They showed the same amount of mercy for the German
civilians as the Germans did for them, which was little to none. What the Allies did in Japan
reflects what they did in Europe. Like the British, the U.S. bombed Japan as a response to the
Pearl Harbor attack. As was the case in the air war against Germany, military planners
experimented with different bombing tactics in order to maximize the damage inflicted on Japan
and force a surrender, (The Choices Program). The United States was working to decrease the

Hegemonic Masculinity Analysis
Reserving the cultural power and importance of gaming for the male audience effectively forms a
gender hierarchy, which is the definition of hegemonic masculinity (Connell, 2005). This concept is
a theoretical perspective combining Gramsci s analysis of class relations with gender studies to
illustrate how gendercan shape society. Connell defines hegemonic masculinityas a gender practice
which embodies the currently accepted answer to the problem of the legitimacy of patriarchy,
which guarantees (or is taken to guarantee) the dominant position of men and the subordination of
women (Connell, 2005, p. 77). Therefore, in the context of the videogames industry and the gaming
press, because men have always been, and continue to be perceived as, the dominant audience, they
and not women, will remain the principal group courted by these institutions, which effectively
reinforces the perception that gaming is a space owned by men where women are not... Show more

One of the first studies found that more than 40% of games did not contain any female characters
in any form, and when games did feature females they were positioned as sex objects or victims

overrepresented, predominately portrayed as Caucasian heterosexual leaders and heroes, while
females were underrepresented, objectified, sexualised, and relegated to helpless or provocative
background characters requiring to be rescued by, or serve as titillation and reward for, the male
player. These researchers have concluded that, due to these gender representations, gaming was an

comparison to other people. By doing this, we are evaluating ourselves on what we think we

based on our social skills. This story, Marina, written by Carlos Ruiz Zafon, is a story of two
people, one person specifically, who thinks less of himself than he should.
This story is set in the unique city of Barcelona. From what I have read and I heard, I have

In this relief, we see it as Christ the child shares the viewer his joy of starting his new adventure
as well as praising the purity of Virgin Mary. There are also three angels emerging from the
cloud. In the Old Testament, angel s functions refer to convey God s will to mankind, which in
this relief the angels reminds us of their role as annunciators (ABRAHAM, 2: The three angels).
They were the ones who carried messages from god and annunciated the birth of Christ. They
are the witnesses of Christ the child coming to the human world as well as proof of Virgin Mary
s virtue of immaculate. In this relief, they are the guardian of the Virgin and child as well as
admirers of Mary s pure and virgin status. With their hands holding together in prayer, they show

other Virgin Mary we see in churches altarpieces that are usually seated on throne, we also have

Social Stereotypes In The Boy And Barbie Doll
Stereotypes are often found in society and can encourage literature and art to agree or disagree
with these ideas. In The Boy and Barbie Doll the topic of gender roles displayed through
imagery, repetition, and simile, by highlighting the appearances and expectations of males and
females. From the moment the sex of a child is determined, people begin associating ideas and
objects to that sex. If it is a girl many will buy pink clothes and imagine her in a ballet class. If it
is a boy they will buy blue clothes and picture him as a football player. In both The Boy and
Barbie Doll the authors address the role and appearance of females through imagery, describing
them in a way that fits the social stereotype but pushes the comfort level.

The Association Between Spontaneous Resolution And...
Chlamydia is the most common bacterial sexually transmitted infection in the United States and
worldwide. Serious complications are associated with untreated chlamydia such as pelvic
inflammatory disease (PID), infertility, and ectopic pregnancy. Most chlamydia infections are
asymptomatic for long periods.1 Some infections may progress causing complications, or may
resolve spontaneously without treatment also known as self cure. The article presents findings of a
perspective study to evaluate the association between spontaneous resolution and decreased
reinfection in women tested positive for chlamydia returning for treatment. The perspective study
was conducted between January 2008 and June 2011. Participants of the study were women 16
years of age or older positive for chlamydia. At enrollment of the study participants were tested for
chlamydia, given treatment, and scheduled for a 6 month follow up clinic visit for retesting. To
reduce confounding a 60 day max time interval was given between initial screening and treatment.
In most cases women receive treatment for chlamydia at the initial clinic visit if they have been
exposed to chlamydia. Only women who had not received treatment, not pregnant and no prior
hysterectomy were eligible for this study. About 20% of chlamydia infected patients observed
experienced spontaneous resolution of infection between the time of initial screening for chlamydia
and returning for treatment of a positive test. II.Article Review

Animal Testing Unnecessary
Animal testing has a long history, with great minds such as Aristotle and Copernicus partaking in
order to further their research. Scientists have used animals for biomedical research to help further
their limited understanding of anatomy and physiology for thousands of years. It could be argued
that the use of animal testingin the past has led to the current level of understanding and medical
research that has saved many lives. However, the techniques used by Aristotle and others should
now be considered antiquated. There is technology available today that makes animal testing
unnecessary, but greed has caused major companies to continue testing on animals because it is less
expensive than investing in cruelty free methods. Animals are also used for cosmetic testing, to find
which ingredients and makeup and cosmetics can cause irritation to consumers. Besides the fact
that there are other methods available to find harmful ingredients, testing on animals to further
societies own vanity is cruel and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Testing on animals allows researchers to see how the drug or chemical will fact the entire body at
once. A common argument used in favor is called the Animal Model which essentially says that
some animals have systems that are very similar to human systems. An example would be
chimpanzees whose internal systems are about ninety percent similar to humans, and pig skin is
composed of the nearly the same material as humans (Speaking of Research). However, research
has shown that this model is heavily flawed and does not universally apply to humans. One reason
for this is the genetic diversity between humans, whereas many animals are very similar alleles and
are nearly genetically identical, humans share many different versions of genes and how an
individual responds to

justification of knowledge. It is an examination of how we make knowledge (Dillon Wals, 2006).
Knowledge, according to constructivism, does not therefore exist in a state awaiting discovery

world (Morcol, 2001).
Methodology is the strategy or plan of action which lies behind the choice and use of particular

As globalization continues to spread over the world, many countries are beginning to feel its
effects. One example is the auto industry. The automobile business is evolving rapidly on a
worldwide basis. Car and parts manufacturers are merging, component design and manufacture are
now frequently outsourced instead of being created in house, brands are changing and the giant
automobile companies are expanding deeper into providing financial services to car buyers.
Meanwhile, all of the biggest, most successful automobile industry firms have become totally

The telecommunications industry in India has experienced dramatic growth in the last decade. In
1991 the number of telephone lines per 100 people was only 1. However, by the end of 2004 that
number had increased 9 times. Along with this, the telecom industry now provides employment to
about two million people. The industry turnover in this field expanding and is currently around $13

such companies. They also outsource many of thier tech support employment positions to India.
India s information technology and IT enabled services industry is a major force in India s

The Allegorical Messages of The Divine Comedy by Dante...
The beginning lines of The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri indicate a pragmatic journey
through the dark woods. It is soon evident that The Divine Comedy is in terms of an allegory.
Midway through his life, Dante finds himself lost and in darkness. He is confused and unaware of
how he has ended up in these dark woods. Dante soon comes across Italian poet Virgil, who will
guide him through the Nine Circles of Hell. Dante Alighieris The Divine Comedy: Inferno portrays
Dante s life and adventure through Hell which allegorically represents a much broader subject: man
s journey through life to salvation.
The Divine Comedy: Inferno begins when Dante is midway through life and he has lost his way.
In the starting lines, Dante claims, Midway in our life s journey, I went astray From the straight
road and woke To find myself Alone in a dark wood. Dante declares that he has strayed away from
the straight road. In Dante s allegory, the straight road symbolizes the right and virtuous path that
leads to God. Mankind must be constantly seeking morality, and once man begins to lose sight of
this righteousness, they will begin to abandon God s honest path. In order to remain on the right
path, man must carefully strive for virtue and be aware of their sins.
Not knowing how he wandered away from the straight road, Dante finds himself in an eerie, dark
wood. In Dante s Inferno, this dark wood allegorically resembles the people of mankind who are
not consciously aware of

Essay about teenage wasteland
The Teenage Wasteland, why was it so good?
Growing up in the recent generations is very challenging. Children at such young ages, even
younger than teens have been faced with such perilous decisions. It is especially hard for
teenagers to find acceptance at this point in their lives. Here is an instance that is so common in
this day and age, yet this particular case is only fiction. A teenage boy named Donny has been
going through a few changes in his appearance. His parents, Matt and Daisy, are somewhat
disturbed yet they don t say much to him. Then one day Daisy gets a call from Donny s school
administrator and tells her that his grades are attitude are dropping scale. He eventually gets

He required some academic help and a better sense of self worth. So a tutor was strongly advised
and Daisy and Matt just agree to hire one, wanting only the best for Donny. This not only was a
mistake to hire Cal but it also cost them a fortune too. I feel Donny s parents should have dealt
with his problem. All he needed was parents that just had time to talk to him and give him a little
leeway at times. Communication is a downfall displayed in Tyler s short story that is very
realistic of parenting that always leads to bigger problems. It is so common for parents to be
too busy with their jobs and lives to give their children all the attention and love needed. I feel
Tyler truly conveyed a real life message in writing Teenage Wasteland. It was very disturbing to
see throughout the story how Cal, the tutor becomes so controlling. Cal at first seemed
reasonable in his method of tutoring Donny. Donny came home so happy sometimes after his
tutoring sessions. Yet gradually the tension sets in again and Donny is back to his old
troublesome self. Cal tells Daisy and Matt not to worry about Donny s slack of performance. Cal
even tells Daisy to let him handle the school if they call and complain about Donny s grades.
Tyler gives me some many different feelings about Cal. Is he a cynical man? Or is he trying his
best to help Donny? This is one of the reasons

Hip Hop And Rap Hop
The genre that I am going to select is Hip Hop/Rap. The 5 top ten from the 80s are The Message
by Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Self Destruction by KRS One and the Stop the
Violence Movement, Push It by Salt N Pepa, I m Bad by LL Cool J, Fight The Power by Public
Enemy, Straight Out Of Compton by NWA. The 5 top ten from 2015 are Know Yourself by
Drake, Trap Queen by Fetty Wap, Alright by Kendrick Lamar, Blessings by Big Sean Featuring
Drake, and Feeling Myself by Nicki Minaj featuring BeyoncГ©. In my opinion, there is a very
distinct difference between Hip Hop and Rap and it is definitely heard in the music throughout the
decades. Hip Hop is a sub culture that speaks out against social issues and injustice against the
African American population. Rap music, on the other hand, is popular pop culture, consumer
commercialism, and mainstream media. Pop culture has a strong influence on the social
construction of gender because images from pop culture convey powerful messages about gender
stereotyped, especially regarding women s appearance. The message of love, sex, and
relationships can be heard in both Hip Hop and Rap and throughout the decades as well. Hip Hop
artist such as Grandmaster Flash, KRS One, and Public Enemy lyrics spoke a strong social message
that told the truth about living in poverty and had a cultural impact and unification of people from
different societies. Family is all inclusive during this decade. In my opinion, family includes

Theme Of Oliver Twist
The word money sums up a theme that Dickens has been preoccupied with in many of his novels .
Dickens has studied the nineteenth century commercially oriented England and observed the
corrupting influence of money on members and deplorably , suggesting how material possessions
have become the criterion of evaluating a human being . Dickens s critics are well aware of this
devastating influence . Humphry House confidently tells us that Dickens s plots and characters are

With the Victorian novelists , the scope of imagination takes a further step by being regarded as a

Pros And Cons Of For-Profit Universities
There are many individuals who believe, that for profit universities and colleges pose a significant
threat to American higher education, and that they should be banned, I also agree with this outlook
on for profit universities. According to Sheffield s article, For profit schools enable low income and
racial minority students, including many who are non traditional, to gain practical, skills based
training that better equips them for the marketplace relative to many traditional academic paths. For
profit colleges and universities differ from non profit colleges and universities because they can be
completed in a shorter amount of time. The training at these schools is typically focused on only
vocational skills, i.e. business and office, technical educationand within the trade industry. For
profit colleges can be seen in many different forms, there are online schools such as the University
of Phoenix, technical schools, culinary schools, and etc. For profit schools are profit seeking
schools, the price is high and some may say that the cost of the tuition is not always going to the
students. For profit universities also come with big opinions for and against them. For profit
colleges tend to be looked down upon because of the price tag that comes along with them. For
profit universities are incredibly expensive and tuition dollars typically do not go towards the
students. These colleges survive on their marketing strategies, and approximately twenty five

The Interest Rates On Federal Student Loans Essay
College is not quite as optional as it once used to be in the era of our parents and their parents. To
get a job that will pay substantially more than with just a high school degree, it is becoming more
and more common for high school graduates to go straight to college. With the price of college
skyrocketing, it is extremely common to take out student loans (from the government or private
institutions), all which come with interest. This paper will focus on the different aspects of student
debt, including rates, how they compare with car and mortgage debt, forbearance and deferment,
default and delinquency, and adverse selection and moral hazard.
The interest rates on federal student loans are set every year depending on the 10 year treasury
note rate in addition to a fixed percentage depending on the loan type. They are set by the United
States Congress. Depending on the type of loan you acquire, your rate will be different. Direct
Subsidized Loan and Direct Unsubsidized Loan rates for undergraduates are currently 3.76
percent, down from 4.29 percent last year. Direct Unsubsidized Loan rates for graduate students
are currently 5.31 percent, and were 5.84 percent last year. Direct PLUS Loan rates for graduate
students and parents are currently 6.31 percent and were 6.84 percent last year. [Access Group,

The Effects of Political Parties on a Democracy
There are indeed several aspects in the composition of political parties that threaten democracy in
the UK, whilst other aspects may promote democracy. Careful analysis must be done in order to
establish to what extent either is true.
On the one hand, it may be argued that parties in fact promote democracy for a variety of reasons.
Firstly, they assist the electorate by offering them a coherent choice, allowing people to vote
democratically. Rather than the electorate having to choose between several members of each
party, and having to place votes for central government subsequent to placing local constituency

has also given higher platforms to those women already elected: Several years ago, Theresa May
was appointed as party chairman. Not only by modernising themselves to represent current

times. The labour party is the most famous for adapting its policies and ideology. Labour changed
its name to New Labour under the leadership of Tony Blairin 1997, to reflect these radical changes.
At this time Labour chose to adapt its policies, and lose a lot of its socialist values. Under Old
Labour state ownership was held under high regard. But after Thatcher s privatisation of state
businesses, Labour acknowledged that it would be dangerous to radically reform businesses and
bring them back under state ownership, thus they modernised their policies adapting them to the

democracy, as policies are adapted to suit the electorate, rather than parties imposing unwanted,

Rhetorical Analysis of President Woodrow Wilsons War Message
With the status of the country s belligerency heavily in question, an apprehensive President
Woodrow Wilson prepared to request from an unmotivated and unprepared country a declaration
of war against Germany. After exerting every attempt possible to retain the peace and honor of
the United States, the President was finally forced to choose between the two, in which he opted
for the latter (Seymour 26). As he sat down to compose his congressional address proposing war,
the uncertainty of his decision overwhelmed him. He confided to a member of his cabinet, Frank
Cobb, that he had never been as unsure about anything in his life as the judgment he was making
for the nation (Baker 506). Through a rhetorical analysis of Wilson s points of... Show more content

He labeled the conflict as a war against all nations exemplifying the distress that other countries
have experienced due to the unbiased and relentless bombing of their own neutral ships (Safire
111). By associating the United States with other friendly countries who are also at odds with
Germany, Wilson s cry for war seemed more convincing. He went on to assert that the choice
made by the U.S must be befitting to the singular characteristics of the country and that they
must be very clear what their motives upon entry into the war were: not vengeance or profession
of physical might, but to defend the principles of peace and justice and to set up amongst the
free people of the world an observance of these ideals (Safire 113). We were entering the war not
to battle with the German people, but to combat a greater menace, the system that had impended
these violations (Baker 512). The president proceeded with regard to his stance on neutrality.
Aware of pacifists like Henry Cabot Lodge in the audience, Wilson appealed to those who had not
forgotten his promises of keeping America out of war. He admitted that his assumption that armed
neutrality would be adequate in safeguarding his people from unlawful violence was in fact
impossible and he had failed to assert our neutral rights with arms, our right to use the seas against

Black Power And Civil Rights Movement
The nuanced historical debate over the concept of black power divides Civil Rights movement
historians into two distinct categories. One grouping of historians interpret the issue of black
power as a vague top down strategy utilized to incite controversy. The other group of historians
promote a bottom up approach to black power, arguing that the statement reflected the already
present ideals of the black community and best encompasses the path to their liberation. The
former group likewise criticizes the slogan as detrimental to the overarching goals of the Civil
Rights movement due to its role in angering whites and its supposed inherent support of violence.
Conversely, the historians in the latter grouping view black power as an... Show more content on

Like Fairclough, Clayborne Carson, another top down historian, also retained the notion that the
seeds that grew to become black power were planted within SNCC s administration. Similarly,
Carson claims that though the introduction of black power at the Meredith March was not
necessarily a master plan by SNCC, it was an overall spontaneous and haphazard endeavor. In the
end, both Carson and Fairclough emphasize the black power ideology as underdeveloped and
exceedingly ambiguous expression of emotion.
Expectedly, historians that value the bottom up approach to history rather than top down
typically come to regard the origins of black power as an organic development within black
communities. Perhaps most evidently, Hasan Kwame Jeffries strongly supports the notion that
the concept of black power was an innate component of Black Belt communities and thus led to
SNCC s adoption of the ideal as an organizational tool. Jeffries argues, The organizing
experiences of SNCC field secretaries in Lowndes County ultimately gave form to their version of
Black Power. It becomes clear that SNCC activists connected the slogan to a concrete organizing
program of forming all black, third parties as a first step towards creating independent power
bases. Furthermore, Jeffries asserts, . . . it is safe to say that rural black southerners demonstrated to
SNCC activists the true meaning of black nationalism, and made clear to them the importance of
making black

The Death Penalty Is Not Morally Ambiguous
In the United States, there are several topics that are considered morally ambiguous. Among these
contended topics is the death penalty. There are many arguments for and against capital
punishment. One proponent for the death penalty is Ernest van den Haag, who in his article, The
Ultimate Punishment, argues a case for the death penalty. I believe he successfully counters the
arguments against the death penalty leading me to believe it is not something that should be
viewed as inhumane and wrong. I will argue that the death penalty is not morally ambiguous, but a
justified sentence some deserve. Van den Haag believes that in upholding a death sentence,
potential murderers are being deterred, victims protected, and justice served. Many... Show more

Many people have a fear of death, many a fear of confinement. It is impossible to predict which
sentence would deter the most potential murderers. With this in mind, it makes more sense to have
a variety of sentences that would deter the greatest amount of people. Abolishing the death penalty
may result in those who are not deterred by the life sentence continuing to commit heinous crimes.
As van den Haag states, Sparing the lives of even a few prospective victims by deterring their
murderers is more important than preserving the lives of convicted murderers because of the
possibility, or even the probability, that executing them would not deter others (194). The argument
has been made that if we condone the legal execution of convicted murderers, then we are
essentially endorsing murder itself. If this were so, then, as van den Haag points out, prison
sentences would endorse kidnapping and fines would endorse robbery (195). If someone has the
mentality that something the judicial system deems an appropriate punishment is unjust, then that
individual will do as they see fit in retaliation. The death sentence itself does not endorse anything.
This is again something that is defined on an individual level. As with anything in life, there is
always the risk of making a mistake. Those opposed to the death penalty use this as one of their

Things Fall Apart, by Chinua Achebe Essay
In the novel, Things Fall Apart, by Chinua Achebe, women play the roles of oppressed
homemakers that are perceived as weak and defenseless second class citizens, as the educators of
children, and as spiritual leaders in traditional Ibo culture. Through the life of Okonwo, the main
character of Things Fall Apart, the roles of women in traditional Ibo culture are presented through
various events that take place in the village of Umuofia. In traditional Ibo culture, women were to

condenser mic was used for hi hats, and two SM137s were used for overheads, also condensers.
I had never encountered the PG81 or the SM137 before that, to my knowledge, so I was nice to
see them in action. All of that fed into a subsnake place by the drums. The band also had a DJ,
who was placed on a riser upstage, stage right. I actually got to help patch that. We took the
stereo outs, XLR, of his controller directly into the main patch. I am assuming that Joe meant the
main snake when he said that. I gave him the cables and he took them under the stage, so I did
not actually get to see where the other side was patched in. I followed him around while he
finished setting things up on stage. There were for keyboards total. They were all patched as
mono into different DI boxes. I asked him why mono instead of stereo, and he said that usually
he would do stereo. However, in this case it was easier to do mono sends since keyboards would
be changing position on the stage throughout the night. During this time he gave me the advice he
says he gives everyone just coming into the business. Safety first. He told me that I did not want a
sandbag to fall on someone, and to trust him on that. In addition, the band had a bass player, a
guitar player, a saxophone, a trumpet, and one of the keyboard

Courtroom Observation Paper
On April 10th, 2017 I, Cherise Dugger, observed the proceedings of multiple criminal hearings in
the Aztec District Court in the courtroom of Judge Bradford J. Dalley. It was here that I observed
out of my element as a dance instructor and mother and became part of the audience of the court.
Being unacquainted with court proceedings, I directed myself towards the back of the courtroom
in order to gain a full perspective of the hearing.

Essay On Food Stamp Bill
The Republican controlled Wisconsin State Assembly passed a bill on Wednesday, May 13th to
require food stamp recipients to use their food stamps only for healthy foods. The bill now travels
to the Republican controlled State Senate, where its future is unknown. In the previous legislative
session, the State Senate refused to take up a similar bill. If the bill passes the State Senate, the
state would need a waiver from the federal government to proceed with the program change. Other
states, such as Missouri and Kansas, tried to pass similar legislation but were not granted the waiver
from the federal government.
Abby Phillip, author of Wisconsin Wants to Discourage the Poor from Spending FoodStamps on
Junk Food, explains the bill and its possible impacts. This article, published in the Washington Post,
includes comments from legislators and business coalitions about the positives and negatives of the
possible implementation of this bill. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Representative Robert Brooks of Saukville, a supporter of the bill, adds that this bill wouldn t

Enhancing The Gearbox Within The Siva Atom By Decreasing...
As the popularity of cell phones continues to increase, continually having a charged device
becomes of utmost importance. In order to fulfill this need, designers have created portable
chargers, such as the Siva Cycle Atom. The device claims to be 80% efficient and seems to be a
viable solution that could be purchased by many individuals in a commercial setting. The
objective of this project is to determine the feasibility of enhancing the gearbox within the Siva
Atom by decreasing energy losses to improve efficiency. A power storing device that can be
charged on a bicycle is a viable solution especially on a college campus setting, such as Texas A M

Students who spend hours on campus in a week for studies do not have regular access to
electrical outlets; they are constantly moving from class to class across campus. b. Background
The time used to commute from class to class for students can be used to charge their mobile
devices. There has been similar research conducted in the past. A research conducted in 2009
took an alternating current from a headlight generator and converted it into direct current in
order to charge a cell phone [2]. Another device that has been researched, and prototyped, is the
Siva Cycle Atom. It is a small device that connects to the back axle of a bike and converts
locomotive, mechanical energy into electrical energy. This device can either directly charge a
mobile device, or can charge a removable 1300 mAh battery. As a cyclist rides their bike, the
spinning of the wheel engages the generator within the device. The inside of the device is shown in
Figure 1. Figure 1: Inside the Siva Cycle Atom [3] The spinning of the generator produces current,
transforming the motion of the bicycle into electricity. Since this current varies, it must pass
through electronics to create a consistent current that can travel to either a mobile device or mobile
charger. It claims to be 80% efficient, meaning 80 percent of the energy from pedalling gets
transferred into electrical energy into the device[3]. Even with a high efficiency, the

Examples Of Blindness In Oedipus The King
Tyler Addison

English 112
5 June 2015
Blindness: Sight and Truth in Oedipus the King Is there one meaning to the ability to see? I am
able to see the floor, the sky, you, but I cannot hear the words you are speaking. Are the blind able
to see more than the sighted? Can those who see, really see the truth? Sophocles manages to grasp
the reader s attention with senses besides sight. Sophocles use of synesthesia, mixing many
different sensations together into a single all embracing perception, gives the reader the illusion
that he, too can actually sense the events being described in the tale ( Sight, Sound, and Sensation
). Human beings will often only believe in what is tangible. We become oblivious to the ability to ...

human. A timeless theme that was shown throughout the past was redemption. No matter what era

Carolwritten by Charles Dickensin the year 1843 and the movie A Diva s Christmas Carol directed

I’m Proud to be Lefthanded Essay
One in 10 people reading this is left handed. There are nearly 34 million of us living in the United
States, and about 500 million in the world. Throughout history, though, lefties have been looked
down upon.
Centuries ago, the Catholic Church declared that left handed people were servants of the devil.
The word left comes from the Old English word meaning weak and worthless. In the 1600s in
Europe, lefties were burned at the stake for alleged witchcraft and sorcery.
Just a generation ago, American parents tried to change their children s left handedness, even going
to the extreme of tying their child s left hand behind his back to keep him from using it. Teachers
also forced their students to use ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Famous leftie artists include Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Pablo Picasso and Lewis Caroll.
And, although they have trouble with a backward guitar, many musicians are also among us:
Beethoven, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Jimi Hendrix, Paul Simon, Kurt Cobain and Billy Corgan.
Southpaw athletes, mainly baseball stars, include Babe Ruth, Barry Bonds, Reggie Jackson, Ken
Griffey Jr. and Larry Bird. (Sportswriter Charles Seymour invented the term southpaw when he
noticed that lefty pitchers throw from the south side of the mound.)
Furthermore, geniuses and icons like Albert Einstein, Aristotle, Isaac Newton, Joan of Arc, Ben
Franklin, Mark Twain, Julius Caesar, Napoleon and Henry Ford were lefties. Of 42 American
presidents, seven have been lefties.
But, some of the superstitions may be true, since lefties also include Billy the Kid, the Boston
Strangler and Jack the Ripper.
Studies have shown that a child with two right handed parents has only a 2 percent chance of
being left handed. A child with one right handed parent and one lefty has a 17 percent chance, and
with two lefties for parents, the child has a 42 percent chance of being a lefty. Also, men are three
times as likely to be lefties as women. One more fun fact: left handedness is twice as common
among twins as single births.

Classification Of Data Mining Techniques
Abstract
Data mining is the process of extracting hidden information from the large data set. Data mining
techniques makes easier to predict hidden patterns from the data. The most popular data mining
techniques are classification, clustering, regression, association rules, time series analysis and
summarization. Classification is a data mining task, examines the features of a newly presented
object and assigning it to one of a predefined set of classes. In this research work data mining
classification techniques are applied to disaster data set which helps to categorize the disaster data
based on the type of disaster occurred in worldwide for past 10 decade. The experimental
comparison has been conducted among Bayes classification algorithms (BayesNet and NaiveBayes)
and Rules Classification algorithms (DecisionTable and JRip). The efficiency of these algorithms is
measured by using the performance factors; classification accuracy, error rate and execution time.
This work is carried out in the WEKA data mining tool. From the experimental result, it is observed
that Rules classification algorithm, JRip has produced good classification accuracy compared to
Bayes classification algorithms. By comparing the execution time the NaiveBayes classification
algorithm required minimum time.
Keywords: Disasters, Classification, BayesNet, NaiveBayes, DecisionTable, JRip.

Free-Will And Determinism
Free Will and Determinism is it an Illusion?
Determinism, libertarianism and compatibilism are three significantly different views on where
unaccountability might stop and where free will and moral responsibility begin. Determinism is the
strict opinion that every action and decision is the cause of an event, genetics or the environment
prior to that action. Quite the opposite is libertarianism, which happens to be the genuine belief in
free will as well as the denial of universal causation. Finally, deep self compatibilism meshes both
of these stand points together and introduces the idea that one s action can be free if it stems purely
out of personal, authentic desire. Since all three judgments have a backbone of convincing ... Show

Second, Silenus would agree that if something is caused it can never be free. Silenus is very
high on himself as he rarely ever takes Hench s threats seriously because he is intelligent enough
to understand that Hench feels responsible for anything that he does. This is partially because
Silenus is constantly reminding him that he isn t responsible for how his mind works and thus
can never be held accountable for any action that may blossem from his desires. Third, since
Silenus concludes that he is not responsible for what he is, free will and moral responsibility
must cease to exist in his case. Don t be silly Hench. Only human beings are responsible. I am
what I am, (Satyr, 218). The Satyr considers himself to be above human responsibility based on
both his pre determined genetic information, and also his environment when he s reduced to
cleaning his creator s lab. To add, all human acquaintances Silenus has had the displeasure of
meeting label him as an untrustworthy beast. By soaking up human behavior like a sponge,
Silenus discovers that people can be extremely selfish, so he decides it is ok to mock this behavior
in a very direct manner. Therefore, Silenus the Satyr and his determinist view that there are reasons
behind every action have even Hench convinced that he is in fact liable for all negative outcomes
that Silenus may initiate.
In the beginning of the story, Hench is

Anthem Protests In Anthem Protests
National Anthem protests started on August 14th, 2016 with Colin Kaepernick sitting on the bench
during the national anthem. This continued for another two games before he talked to former
Green Beret and former NFL player Nate Boyer about the best way to make his point without
disrespecting the military; Kaepernick then began taking a knee instead of simply sitting on the
bench during games beginning on November 1st, 2016. There has been talk across the nation from
last year into this year about whether or not this protesting should be happening, and about what the
protesting was legitimately about, with even the president weighing in on the matter; everyone
seems to have an opinion about the issue. But the National Anthem protests should stop because
they have goals that are vague and unclear; refusing to stand is disrespectful to soldiers and
veterans alike; and refusing to stand makes people too angry to consider the message behind the
protest, effectively stopping any progress that could be made by the protests.
We have all heard of the National Anthem protests in the NFL at this point, but if you went
around and asked different people around you what the goals of these protests are, you would
draw a couple of answers. One answer you would receive would be that the protests are against
Donald Trump, which might make you scratch your head in wonder: why would people think that?
Perhaps as a result of Trump s long railing tweets about how NFL players that don t stand

  • 2. Common Category Of Cardiac Arrhythmias Introduction Atrial Fibrillation Atrial Fibrillation (AF) known to be the common category of cardiac arrhythmias. It is mainly due to the rate or rhythm abnormalities of the heart and is a type of supraventricular tachycardia (SVT). Rapid and irregular heart beating is a characteristic sign of atrial fibrillation. It is of significance since it a high risk of leading to thromboembolic events, heart failure and mortality (1). The prevalence of atrial fibrillation globally has increased significantly to about 2 3% in the population. Since the risk of atrial fibrillation increases significantly with age, due to multiple co morbidities, the UK s increasing elderly population has a marked increase in incidences of atrial fibrillation (2). Complications Patients with on going atrial fibrillation have been shown to have an increased risk of thromboembolic events. The clots that can be formed in the heart during atrial fibrillation can easily travel and obstruct blood vessels, leading to tissue ischemia, thus causing severe organ damage such as a Pulmonary Embolus or stoke. It is highly recommend that patients with atrial fibrillation undergo anticoagulation therapy with drugs that help thin the blood such as Warfarinto help prevent clot formation. These drugs come with serious side effects such bleeding in the brain that can lead to complications or even death. Treatments methods Since 1954 Warfarin, a vitamin K antagonist (VKAs) has been the Gold standard anticoagulant ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They are complicated, serious disorders. The group that eating disorders affects the most are typically girls through the ages of sixteen and twenty years old. Although teenage eating disorders are typically believed to be caused by depression or genetic factors, social media has worsened the problem by the huge increase in peer pressure girls endure due to the widespread use of sites such as Twitter and Instagram. Eating disorders are real, complex and devastating conditions that can have serious consequences for health, productivity and relationships. The two most common... Some of these groups became known as Pro Ana, Pro Mia and Pro ED, which are short for Pro Anorexia, Pro Bulimia and Pro Eating Disorders (Wanchisn 1). These terms are used to describe online websites where eating disorder behaviors and attitudes are encouraged greatly. On these sites, users are encouraged to lose weight to be part of that exclusive online community. Some initially appear friendly and happy. However, they can pose a serious threat to some individuals, not simply because they promote eating disorder behaviors, but because they build a community that is unhealthy and unstable. They persuade young girls that the Pro Ana community is providing caring and nurturing advice, however it is really creating an unhealthy environment (Wanchisn 3). Now Pro Ana content appears in more places and in more formats, such as blogs and social networking websites. It s also increasingly more difficult to detect Pro Ana sites. Many are disguised as positive websites where people motivate each other lose weight together and the anorexic theme is hidden behind nice comments. They come together behind the theme of thinspiration, giving out their own tips and tricks to lose excessive weight. The opposing team s goalie, with sweat dripping down his face and fear in his eyes, gave me the dirtiest look anyone could have ever imagined. I soon realized, I had just won the hockey gameduring gym class. All the confused stares and silent but noticeable whispers lead me to question what was all the hot gossip. I achingly trudged down the toxic, smelly stairwell which led me to the reeking, strong smell of sweat in the girl s locker room. Sounds of giggling, and perfume being spritzed; the loud slamming of lockers as the girls finish changing their clothes, and the horsing around that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It s not like I m going to wet myself or anything, I stated. I crushed her small sense of hope. I m freaking out because I forgot my shorts, and all I have are these black sweatpants that I am currently wearing. I ll sweat way too much if I wear these for gym! To be honest, I m already sweating buckets, said Kaelyn as she was twirling her wavy brunette hair and biting her already short nails nervously. The door keeps frantically slamming shut as the overly hyper girls leave the dull looking locker room. Let s go guys! shouted a petite, quiet girl. Yeah, yeah, yeah, we re coming Ashlyn. Kaelyn and I both said as we started moseying towards the door. Everyone else was already up there and waiting to start. You, in the red shorts and Reeboks, get up here! And you in the pink and purple horizontal striped shirt and light up Sketchers, you too, said my gym teacher Mr. Beavers. We hurried to the gym. • 5. How Does Chaucer Use Clothing In Literature Chaucer s Use of Clothing: an Effective Rhetorical Device In Literature, as in real life, characters are sometimes judged by their appearance. The description of clothing provides detail and comment on those wearing them. Chaucer s uses of artifice in The Canterbury Tales function as gauges of the social status and economic wealth, and emotional condition of each pilgrim. Artifice effectively provides a badge of humanity, symbolic of each character s fallibility. Yet clothing simultaneously imposes upon the characters literary stereotypes, which they consequentially adopt. Unable to transcend these ascribed roles, the pilgrims sometimes find themselves bound by literary stereotypes and narrative function, which they tend to fulfill ... • 6. Jean Piaget Research Paper Jean Piaget, great pioneer of development psychology, is known for being one of the first to figure out that children function a lot differently than adults. He believed that children are actively processing their understanding of the world as they grow and that this happens in different stages, which led to the cognitive development theory. Piaget proposed 4 stages of cognitive development, which refer to the sensorimotor stage (0 2 years), the preoperational stage (2 7 years), the concrete operational stage (7 11 years) and the formal operational stage (12+ years). The age period at which each stage takes place is approximate. One has to complete the present stage to be able to go to the next. Every child will not complete the stage during the stated age bracket. In fact, some of them may never... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During this stage, children are learning to talk and develop grammar. Children also begin to pretend play, which proves that they are able to use symbols to symbolise objects. At this stage, Piaget considered children to be ego centric and it may be relevant as at that age, children cannot understand that people may have a different opinion that they do and think that they should always be the centre of attention. Piaget used a technique to demonstrate ego centrism in children and it is known as the three mountain task . Children are shown a three dimensional display of a mountain scene and are then to choose a picture that showed the scene they had observed. Most children are able to do this with little difficulty. Next, children are asked to select a picture showing what someone else would have observed when looking at the mountain from a different viewpoint. Invariably, children almost always choose the scene showing their own view of the mountain scene. According to Piaget, children experience this difficulty because they are unable to take on another person s perspective. (Cherry, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Imine Synthesis Lab Report The underlying principles of the imine synthesis reactions include isomerization, pH values, and the importance of acids as catalysts. Imine formation begins with either an alkene or aldehyde that then produces alkenes isomers.7 Imine formation generally produces a mixture of products with E or Z conformation. This conformation is more commonly denoted as cis or trans. The trans product, or E, forms when the highest priority groups are on opposite sides of the alkene double bond, which is the more stable of the two conformations due to a lack of steric interaction wherein the molecules are more separated allowing for free rotation about the double bond. In contrast, the cis, or Z, alkene occurs when the highest priority groups are on the same side of the double bond, but the energy is not evenly distribution in the molecule,... • 8. Gender And Dress Code In Public School Madison Dixon Mrs. Byrd English Comp. I November 8, 2017 Gender and Dress Code High school dress codes are rules for clothing that is deemed either appropriate or inappropriate to wear to school. Standard codes in public schools, that don t have uniforms, typically require students to have sleeved garments and leg wear that is a certain length. At some schools, the term leg wear doesn t include leggings, while other schools permit leggings as long as your shirt or other clothing reaches the length that shorts are required to meet. After attending five public schools, three of which during my high school career, I can verify that these were typically the enforced rules. All schools also had rules against hats and certain headgear, though exceptions would sometimes be made, such as in the case of spirit week. My most recent school has, for the most part, been very relaxed about dress codes. Most of the rules are simply to maintain a piece of decency among the students. The code basically calls for undergarments to remain concealed, provocative skin can t be shown, shirts must have sleeves, and leg wear must be longer than your fingertips with your hands at your sides. However, there are some inconsistencies with dress codes that I have noticed and can t seem to understand. There seems to be lenience for boys when it comes to the enforcement of dress codes. Of course, boys don t have a tendency to wear track shorts or tank tops to school. However, I ve been coded for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Let the Right One in Analysis Essay BONDING THROUGH EXILE: An Analysis of Mise en ScГЁne in Let the Right One In The theme of loneliness and isolation has been predominant in cinema since its inception, but Tomas Alfredson explores the idea in a unique way in his 2008 Swedish romantic horror film, Let the Right One In. Set in the snowy winter of Stockholm, the film depicts the similarly cold and depressing life of Oskar, a young target of bullying. This frozen, barren setting contributes to the complete isolation that the viewer feels with the characters. Through strategic shot composition and specific color and mood choices, Alfredson shows how both Oskar and Eli are cut off from the world in different ways, and then how their common bloodlust brings them together. ... The camera slowly pans around the playground, showing the bland walls of the apartment complex surrounding it to amplify their sense of overwhelming loneliness. Oskar, wanting to find a companion in Eli, provides her with his rubik s cube to solve. The rubik s cube can also be seen as Eli providing an answer to Oskar s problems. Both his life and his rubik s cube are puzzles that need solving, and Eli literally drops in to solve everything for him. This early scene sets the tone for the rest of the movie and establishes both the characters as lonely outcasts that need to be saved. As the relationship between Oskar and Eli continues to blossom, Oskar finds out that Eli lives off blood to survive. After this realization, there is a scene where Eli arrives at Oskar s house. Oskar attempts to let her in by motioning and gesturing but she refuses to cross the threshold. She finally enters without his permission, causing her to bleed from every opening on her face, turning her into a grotesque image of her true vampiric form. This causes Oskar to give her permission to enter. This scene symbolizes the finality of the relationship between Oskar and Eli. Eli is a violent murderer, and Oskar has violent ambitions, and this is the moment where Eli attempts to turn those ambitions into reality. The Key Concepts Within Modern File Systems 2Abstract This essay will discuss the key concepts within modern file systems, ranging from simply defining what a filesystem is, to detailing what exactly a file consists of. Historical developments within file systems and storage technologies will be outlined, and state of the art file system features will be described. 3Introduction Procrustes was an ancient Attican malefactor who forced wayfarers to lie on an iron bed and either stretched or cut short each person s legs to fit the bed s length. Finally Procrustes was forced onto his own bed by Thesius. A similar Procrustean technique was applied to filesystems and data storage for many years. The file system is comprised of two specific parts: a collection of files and a directory structure, which provides data about and organises all of the files in the file system. (3) Some filesystems will be used on local data storage devices, whereas others provide access over a network, through a network protocol such as NFS. (2) A filesystem can refer to an entire storage system or part of an isolated segment of storage, i.e. a disk partition. The word filesystem can be used to refer to a partition or disk that is used to store files or as part of the description of the type of filesystem in use. For example, one could say this is an extended filesystem in reference to the type of filesystem in use, or I have three filesystems meaning that one has three partitions on which one can store files. (4) There is an incredibly important difference between a disk or partition and the filesystem that it contains. Some programs will operate directly on sectors of a disk or partition, so they could desolate or seriously corrupt any current filesystem. However, most programs operate at the filesystem level, and subsequently will not operate correctly on a disk or partition that either does not contain a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(Jn 13:35)What is a committed religious life for being a Catholic sister or nun. Catholic sister and nuns have a different variation of lifestyle, ministries and callings. All community has its own peculiar identity and flavor, this is because there are no two association, as there is no two nuns that are the same. As we watch movies about nuns we sometimes predict sisters and nuns to be living a highly ordered life which is unchanging in structure which is repetitive in context. But the truth is that there may be some regular customs and practices, a day in Catholic sister and nunlife as it is diverse, especially as the Holy Spirit is in charge. As a day in a life of nuns are constructed around service within the chapel because by joining a convent or nunnery, nuns have to make a choice to devote their life to God. Religion has influenced the life of a nun. A lot of convents do have its own particular daily timetable for a nun as many do the following similarly: the first day of services 02.00: Matins Laud After Matins Laud, nuns would go back to bed and would get up again at first light. • 14. How Is Strategic Bombing Justified Strategic bombing is a military strategy used in a total war with the goal of defeating the enemy by destroying its morale or its economic ability to produce and transport materiel to the theatres of military operations. This tactic was used by the United States and Britain against the Germans and Japanese in World War II. Strategic bombing is debated on whether the United States and Britain were justified in using it. The United States and Britain used strategic bombing to protect their people from fascist dictators and were justified in doing so. In the beginning of World War II, air forces only attacked militarytargets. This changed once the German Luftwaffe began conducting air raids on British cities, including London, during the summer of 1940, (The Editors of EncyclopГ¦dia Britannica). Strategic bombing soon became a main part of military combat. It was seen to be in the best interest of the country s side in the war. To the British, bombing German cities was a type of revenge. They showed the same amount of mercy for the German civilians as the Germans did for them, which was little to none. What the Allies did in Japan reflects what they did in Europe. Like the British, the U.S. bombed Japan as a response to the Pearl Harbor attack. As was the case in the air war against Germany, military planners experimented with different bombing tactics in order to maximize the damage inflicted on Japan and force a surrender, (The Choices Program). Connell defines hegemonic masculinityas a gender practice which embodies the currently accepted answer to the problem of the legitimacy of patriarchy, which guarantees (or is taken to guarantee) the dominant position of men and the subordination of women (Connell, 2005, p. 77). Therefore, in the context of the videogames industry and the gaming press, because men have always been, and continue to be perceived as, the dominant audience, they and not women, will remain the principal group courted by these institutions, which effectively reinforces the perception that gaming is a space owned by men where women are not... • 16. Marina By Carlos Ruiz Zafon Finding what we think that we are worth can be a hard thing to do. Many of us think of ourselves as someone or something that is not worth anything; we constantly put ourselves down in comparison to other people. By doing this, we are evaluating ourselves on what we think we should be like, which is called selfdefinition; self definition is basically us grading ourselves based on our social skills. This story, Marina, written by Carlos Ruiz Zafon, is a story of two people, one person specifically, who thinks less of himself than he should. This story is set in the unique city of Barcelona. Serious complications are associated with untreated chlamydia such as pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), infertility, and ectopic pregnancy. Most chlamydia infections are asymptomatic for long periods.1 Some infections may progress causing complications, or may resolve spontaneously without treatment also known as self cure. The article presents findings of a perspective study to evaluate the association between spontaneous resolution and decreased reinfection in women tested positive for chlamydia returning for treatment. The perspective study was conducted between January 2008 and June 2011. Participants of the study were women 16 years of age or older positive for chlamydia. At enrollment of the study participants were tested for chlamydia, given treatment, and scheduled for a 6 month follow up clinic visit for retesting. To reduce confounding a 60 day max time interval was given between initial screening and treatment. In most cases women receive treatment for chlamydia at the initial clinic visit if they have been exposed to chlamydia. Only women who had not received treatment, not pregnant and no prior hysterectomy were eligible for this study. About 20% of chlamydia infected patients observed experienced spontaneous resolution of infection between the time of initial screening for chlamydia and returning for treatment of a positive test. It is soon evident that The Divine Comedy is in terms of an allegory. Midway through his life, Dante finds himself lost and in darkness. He is confused and unaware of how he has ended up in these dark woods. Dante soon comes across Italian poet Virgil, who will guide him through the Nine Circles of Hell. Dante Alighieris The Divine Comedy: Inferno portrays Dante s life and adventure through Hell which allegorically represents a much broader subject: man s journey through life to salvation. The Divine Comedy: Inferno begins when Dante is midway through life and he has lost his way. In the starting lines, Dante claims, Midway in our life s journey, I went astray From the straight road and woke To find myself Alone in a dark wood. Dante declares that he has strayed away from the straight road. In Dante s allegory, the straight road symbolizes the right and virtuous path that leads to God. Mankind must be constantly seeking morality, and once man begins to lose sight of this righteousness, they will begin to abandon God s honest path. In order to remain on the right path, man must carefully strive for virtue and be aware of their sins. The argument has been made that if we condone the legal execution of convicted murderers, then we are essentially endorsing murder itself. If this were so, then, as van den Haag points out, prison sentences would endorse kidnapping and fines would endorse robbery (195). If someone has the mentality that something the judicial system deems an appropriate punishment is unjust, then that individual will do as they see fit in retaliation. The death sentence itself does not endorse anything. This is again something that is defined on an individual level. As with anything in life, there is always the risk of making a mistake. • 37. Things Fall Apart, by Chinua Achebe Essay In the novel, Things Fall Apart, by Chinua Achebe, women play the roles of oppressed homemakers that are perceived as weak and defenseless second class citizens, as the educators of children, and as spiritual leaders in traditional Ibo culture. Through the life of Okonwo, the main character of Things Fall Apart, the roles of women in traditional Ibo culture are presented through various events that take place in the village of Umuofia. In traditional Ibo culture, women were to stay at home and tend to her husbands needs and satisfy them. Women were viewed as property of their fathers and were then sold to the suitor that was willing to pay her bride price. The other wives were very much afraid of Okonwo but they knew better than to challenge his authority. Neither of the wives dared to interfere between an occasional and tentative, It is enough Okonwo , pleaded from a reasonable distance (38). Okonwo even attempts to shoot Ekwefi when she referred to him as one of those guns that never shot. The novel describes a third instance of wife beating, when a severe case of wife beating comes before the egwugwu, they found in favor of the beaten wife, but at the end of the trial an elder wondered, Why such a trifle should come before the egwugwu? (94). All these occurrences demonstrate that women are oppressed and are treated like inferior, worthless properties that deserved to be beaten now and then in traditional Ibo culture. The Ibo believe that women are weak in every aspect of life. Men insult each other by calling each other women. An example of this is Okonwo s deep hatred and resentment for his father, Unoka, whom he considered a woman because of his carelessness to rank high in status among the Ibo, for his laziness, and him being an untitled man. In a kindred meeting of his peers, Okonwo unkindly tells Osugo, the man who had contradicted him in the meeting, This meeting is for men (26). Since Osugo has taken no title, Okonwo considers him a woman. Okonwo perceives women as being weak and does not want to appear weak or like a woman among the Ibo. After murdering Ikemefuna, ... When they found a good place to live in the mountains, Chief Man Eater and his followers built a permanent settlement, but they were close enough to people that they could easily steal a family away during the night for a meal. A research conducted in 2009 took an alternating current from a headlight generator and converted it into direct current in order to charge a cell phone [2]. Another device that has been researched, and prototyped, is the Siva Cycle Atom. It is a small device that connects to the back axle of a bike and converts locomotive, mechanical energy into electrical energy. This device can either directly charge a mobile device, or can charge a removable 1300 mAh battery. As a cyclist rides their bike, the spinning of the wheel engages the generator within the device. The inside of the device is shown in Figure 1. Figure 1: Inside the Siva Cycle Atom [3] The spinning of the generator produces current, transforming the motion of the bicycle into electricity. Since this current varies, it must pass through electronics to create a consistent current that can travel to either a mobile device or mobile charger. It claims to be 80% efficient, meaning 80 percent of the energy from pedalling gets transferred into electrical energy into the device[3]. Even with a high efficiency, the ... Quite the opposite is libertarianism, which happens to be the genuine belief in free will as well as the denial of universal causation.
