This document describes several dance lengthening techniques: mirroring involves imitating another dancer's movements face-to-face; succession repeats movement sequences after counts of two, three, or four; counterpoint has some dancers perform high movements while others do low or percussive movements; retrograde repeats a movement sequence from end to beginning; theme and variation features a common movement or theme with slight variations; unison has all dancers perform movements simultaneously; and canon is similar to succession but all dancers end at a common movement at the same time.
