There are 7,4 billion people in the world and just as many mobile phone subscriptions. 69% of the global population has 3G coverage. Mobile broadband is the most popular market segment in ICT. In the last 15 years, global Internet penetration rate grew from 6.5 to 43%. And the figures keep rising. These facts show that our students are not the only individuals on the planet who are mesmerised by their internet connection or by their mobile. The border between ‘real’ and ‘virtual’ is getting thinner. Choosing to separate them from a device they were almost born with makes the school walls seem oppressive, cause frustration and lowers motivation. Another battle with no winners. The other option implies befriending technology, approaching it creatively as a useful and highly adaptable resource. Students will not only actively participate during lessons, but they will continue learning at home, on their commute, or when they go on a family trip.
