Design for Testability: A Tutorial for Devs and TestersTechWell
Testability is the degree to which a system can be effectively and efficiently tested. This key software attribute indicates whether testing (and subsequent maintenance) will be easy and cheap—or difficult and expensive. In the worst case, a lack of testability means that some components of the system cannot be tested at all. Testability is not free; it must be explicitly designed into the system through adequate design for testability. Peter Zimmerer describes influencing factors (controllability, visibility, operability, stability, simplicity) and constraints (conflicting nonfunctional requirements, legacy code), and shares his experiences implementing and testing highly-testable software. Peter offers practical guidance on the key actions: (1) designing well-defined control and observation points in the architecture, and (2) specifying testability needs for test automation early. He shares creative and innovative approaches to overcome failures caused by deficiencies in testability. Peter presents a new, comprehensive strategy for testability design that can be implemented to gain the benefits in a cost-efficient manner.

This white paper focuses on the dramatic growth in the number and severity of software vulnerabilities, and discusses how multilayered endpoint security is needed to mitigate the threats they pose.
Automatic Proactive Troubleshooting with IBM Rational Build ForgeBill Duncan
Abstract
This paper will address using Build Forge to integrate Rational products to fix or “phone home” potential support issues proactively without user intervention.

Refrigerator companies have often floated the idea of having intelligent refrigerators that would call in service requests for themselves when components were failing. The basis of this idea is that better diagnostics are driven by greater integration between computerized parts. This paper brings this idea to Rational products by using Build Forge to fix or “phone home” potential support issues proactively without user intervention.

The aim of this article is to share our experience in building and
managing Continuous Integration environments on the basis of
open-source tools like Hudson and Selenium. In this article we
will concentrate on testing purposes, suggest just few improvements
and describe our experience with using open-source tools.
The main idea is to present how to use automated tests reasonably
by minimizing the time spent on them while optimizing the
benefits that automated tests give us.
San Jose Selenium Meetup 22 Mar 2012: The Restless Are Getting NativeDante Briones
Are you wondering how to write automated tests for your shiny new iOS application? Is it even possible? Maybe you're sick of manually running the same test scenarios over and over and over… are you developing blisters on your fingertips?
In his talk, Dante Briones--Principal Consultant for Cochiva--will give a broad overview of the automated testing tools currently available for iOS, and share some hard-won secrets of iOS app test automation using NativeDriver -- an implementation of the WebDriver API that can drive *native* applications running on iOS or Android. You'll see how to integrate NativeDriver into your iOS app, allowing you to write functional tests in Java. You'll learn how to execute those tests at the command line and how to integrate those tests into a continuous integration tool like Jenkins. You'll hear lots of tips about how to improve your chances for a successful adoption of a functional testing suite.
In this presentation we introduce the concept quality assurance in video games along with the most important concepts, team members and testing phases.
These slides were prepared by Dr. Marc Miquel. All the materials used in them are referenced to their authors.

Being a software tester, we also face some challenges, such as Non-Reproducible bugs. Bugs which are not easy or cannot be reproduced again are termed as Non-Reproducible bugs which we often find harder to isolate and to get them fix becomes a difficult task.

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.

zkStudyClub - Reef: Fast Succinct Non-Interactive Zero-Knowledge Regex ProofsAlex Pruden
This paper presents Reef, a system for generating publicly verifiable succinct non-interactive zero-knowledge proofs that a committed document matches or does not match a regular expression. We describe applications such as proving the strength of passwords, the provenance of email despite redactions, the validity of oblivious DNS queries, and the existence of mutations in DNA. Reef supports the Perl Compatible Regular Expression syntax, including wildcards, alternation, ranges, capture groups, Kleene star, negations, and lookarounds. Reef introduces a new type of automata, Skipping Alternating Finite Automata (SAFA), that skips irrelevant parts of a document when producing proofs without undermining soundness, and instantiates SAFA with a lookup argument. Our experimental evaluation confirms that Reef can generate proofs for documents with 32M characters; the proofs are small and cheap to verify (under a second).

In the rapidly evolving landscape of technologies, XML continues to play a vital role in structuring, storing, and transporting data across diverse systems. The recent advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) present new methodologies for enhancing XML development workflows, introducing efficiency, automation, and intelligent capabilities. This presentation will outline the scope and perspective of utilizing AI in XML development. The potential benefits and the possible pitfalls will be highlighted, providing a balanced view of the subject.
We will explore the capabilities of AI in understanding XML markup languages and autonomously creating structured XML content. Additionally, we will examine the capacity of AI to enrich plain text with appropriate XML markup. Practical examples and methodological guidelines will be provided to elucidate how AI can be effectively prompted to interpret and generate accurate XML markup.
Further emphasis will be placed on the role of AI in developing XSLT, or schemas such as XSD and Schematron. We will address the techniques and strategies adopted to create prompts for generating code, explaining code, or refactoring the code, and the results achieved.
The discussion will extend to how AI can be used to transform XML content. In particular, the focus will be on the use of AI XPath extension functions in XSLT, Schematron, Schematron Quick Fixes, or for XML content refactoring.
The presentation aims to deliver a comprehensive overview of AI usage in XML development, providing attendees with the necessary knowledge to make informed decisions. Whether you’re at the early stages of adopting AI or considering integrating it in advanced XML development, this presentation will cover all levels of expertise.
By highlighting the potential advantages and challenges of integrating AI with XML development tools and languages, the presentation seeks to inspire thoughtful conversation around the future of XML development. We’ll not only delve into the technical aspects of AI-powered XML development but also discuss practical implications and possible future directions.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
