Matter is anything that has mass and occupies space, while non-matter does not have mass or occupy space. Matter is composed of tiny discrete particles and can exist in different states depending on the arrangement of those particles. Different types of matter, like copper sulfate crystals or air, can mix with other substances when their particles separate and diffuse between the spaces of particles in another substance.
