The Mozilla Developer Network is an open-source documentation wiki for web developers, which is written by really passionate, smart, and inspiring people. Most are not paid employees of Mozilla. All of them are helping make the web a better place by writing, editing, and reviewing articles. How do you support a diverse community, acknowledge many different voices and perspectives, be open and inclusive, and still get things done (especially when you can’t force anyone to do anything)? In this session, I’ll share what I’ve learned (and keep learning) by working with, in, and for volunteer communities; including how to be more transparent, create opportunity, and broadly share ownership.
Crowdsourced Learning: the power of the synergy that is achieved through the billions of interactions among the millions of experts in the world, freely helping each other to learn from the best each other is.
This presentation was developed to help a client address best practices for building an online community within the workplace. It was based upon a great deal of research and study of the topic and should help those who are seeking information or wish to start an online community, as it pulls together a great amount of data and resources on the topic.

Using social media strategy in building the corporate brand image is a route a lot of people imagine they know - what with the number of influencers, opinion leaders, trend watchers, and spotters laying claims to so-called virile strategy which generate likes, impressions and conversations. However, that is not all there is to capturing corporate essence in an era of great cynicism. Using Social Media as a route to build corporate stature requires the need to develop and manage strategic partnerships, the monitoring of trends and applications of knowledge from trends in building conversations while measuring the impact of efforts in order to intensify or discontinue a course of action. Beyond this, this presentation attempts a historical perspective of the social media phenomenon as well as platform possibilities looking at the Nigerian context.
La sociedad esta inmersa en un cumulo de informaciones, decidir como evoluciona la tecnología y como nuestro ser se ve involucrado a pasos gigantescos y sin limite de tiempo.. es una decisión al cambio.

Enterprise Excellence is Inclusive Excellence.pdfKaiNexus
Enterprise excellence and inclusive excellence are closely linked, and real-world challenges have shown that both are essential to the success of any organization. To achieve enterprise excellence, organizations must focus on improving their operations and processes while creating an inclusive environment that engages everyone. In this interactive session, the facilitator will highlight commonly established business practices and how they limit our ability to engage everyone every day. More importantly, though, participants will likely gain increased awareness of what we can do differently to maximize enterprise excellence through deliberate inclusion.
What is Enterprise Excellence?
Enterprise Excellence is a holistic approach that's aimed at achieving world-class performance across all aspects of the organization.
What might I learn?
A way to engage all in creating Inclusive Excellence. Lessons from the US military and their parallels to the story of Harry Potter. How belt systems and CI teams can destroy inclusive practices. How leadership language invites people to the party. There are three things leaders can do to engage everyone every day: maximizing psychological safety to create environments where folks learn, contribute, and challenge the status quo.
Who might benefit? Anyone and everyone leading folks from the shop floor to top floor.

3. “Twitter is just
the beginning of this
real-time internet
-
the simplest manifestation of
this long term trend
-
that spells the end of
communications
and start of an
interaction
society.”
Om Malik April 14th, 2009:
As Om Malik observed:
“Twitter is ... the start of an interaction society.”
5. "They announced they were going to shut
down their system for maintenance, and
we asked them not to,"
one official said,
adding that the discussions were meant to
"highlight to [Twitter] that this was an
important means of
communication, not with us but
horizontally in Iran."
And already it is becoming essential public infrastructure.
14. “I no longer
understand my
own creation”
~ Tim Berners-Lee, Inventor of the Web
In July 2008 at a Nesta Web Science event Sir Tim Berners Lee, inventor of the web, said...
“I no longer understand my own creation”
He also implored the audience...
“Ask not whether we're asking too much of the web, but whether we're asking too much of
us”
Indicating that what this is and where it’s going is about people.

ChangeMedium’s mission is to advance and

39. Personal,

It is unprecedented for personal, interest-driven discovery.
So if I like “So you think you can dance”, I can follow a producer/judge - as a person.
40. Or I can follow my more productive interests for links...
46. Flash Mobilization
& Collaboration
And finally we have unprecedented opportunities for flash mobilization like #hohoto where,
in 18 days, over a dozen people came together over twitter to co-led the creation of a sold-
out party to 600 people which raised $25,000 and 2t of food for the local foodbank.
47. Shortly after, Twestival raised $250k in less than a month for Charity water through close to
1000 volunteers hosting events in over 200 cities around the world in which 10,000 people
attended.
52. Fractured Data
So where do all those public messages sit?
- in Twitter’s private servers
And for how long?
And what what if I want to use a different service like Identi.ca?
53. Incompatibility
And what happens when there are more services that we want to use?
How do we access all these public messages?
How do we search for everything everyone is saying about the next major event?
60. Research
• What is unique about this medium?
• What new does it make possible?
• What aspects and attributes are essential
to its potential?
And are interested in...
- what is unique about this medium
- what new it makes possible

61. Network-grade
Infrastructure
• Processing infrastructure
• Common standards
• SMS gateway
While not simple, building out a network-grade infrastructure is not only possible, but
represents an extraordinary cost/benefit argument.
When has it been possible to build a public medium that the US State Department starts
considering essential, global, infrastructure for a few million dollars?
Initial scoping of this infrastructure includes:
- an interoperable message processing infrastructure operating at a level below Twitter
- common standards optimized for public benefit
- and a global sms gateway to streamline public micro-messaging growth and application.
62. Labs
• Experimental applications
• Infrastructure development
• Public benefit partnerships
And finally, given the emergent nature, one of the best ways to learn is to actively
experiment.
Through internal and ad-hoc labs, Changemedium is considering:
- experimental applications to advance the application of the medium for public benefit
- developing the infrastructure, and
- supporting public benefit partnerships.
67. Developed two prototypes
testing the technical and social
dynamics of the public micro-
