The integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) into the curriculum has
become a necessity worldwide. The education system does not only pursue the integration of ICT into the
curriculum because of its popularity in the market system, but because of the role it is perceived to play in the
changing curriculum (encourages active construction of knowledge). This paper undertakes an assessment of
the availability of ICT infrastructure for curriculum instruction based on a study of public secondary schools in
Mumias sub-County in Kakamega County, Kenya. The study adopted a descriptive survey design. The target
population comprised head teachers, teachers and students in public secondary schools in Mumias sub-County.
Schools were selected using stratified random sampling technique while students’ sample size was determined
using Kathuri and Pals formula. Head teachers and heads of computer departments were purposively selected.
Questionnaire, structured interview schedule and content analysis were the main instruments of data collection
for the study. Two sets of questionnaire were prepared, one for the students and the other for the teachers. The
structured interview schedule was used to solicit information from the head teachers. Both qualitative and
quantitative data were collected for the study. Qualitative data was analyzed descriptively. Analyzed data was
presented in form of cumulative frequency tables, percentages and graphs. The study established that the main
ICT facilities in place in most schools in Mumias sub-County were radio for interactive radio instruction and
computers. The radios available in the studied secondary schools were however inadequate. A majority of the
examined secondary schools had an average computer to learner ratio of 30:1. The study recommended that the
Ministry of Education should hasten the development of ICT policy to ensure that teachers practice what is in
line with the ministry’s expectations, schools should involve their governing bodies to facilitate provision of ICT
infrastructure and that concerned departments within the Ministry of Education should conduct regular and
differentiated ICT teacher trainings.

Cloud computing (CC) is expected to lead to new highly beneficial models of information and communication technologies (ICT) acquisition and management in firms. According to relevant literature CC enables firms having weak ICT support to create sophisticated ICT infrastructures rapidly and at a low cost. However, the adoption of CC has been below expectations. Therefore, it is important to conduct further research on factors affecting CC adoption positively or negatively. In this paper is presented an empirical investigation of the effects of two important firm’s ICT infrastructure characteristics, its sophistication and electronic interconnection with suppliers and customers, on firm’s propensity to adopt CC. It is based on a large dataset collected from 676 European firms from the glass, ceramics and cement industries through the e-Business Survey of the European Commission. It has been concluded that in these industries both the sophistication and the electronic interconnection of firm’s ICT infrastructure have a positive effect on its propensity to adopt CC. This finding is not in agreement with the high expectations from and promises of CC: in this context it is not the firms lacking a highly sophisticated and interconnected ICT infrastructure that have more interest and propensity to use CC services in order to obtain it, but on the contrary the firms having such a strong infrastructure in order to reduce its cost.

SWOT Analysis on the Use of ICT - Romania
Students take 4 ICT classes and 1 programming class per week, totaling 7 classes. The school has 3 computer labs with 30 desktop computers each, as well as a physics lab equipped with laptops, a video projector, and an interactive whiteboard. Emerging technologies discussed include educational social networking, cloud computing, mobiles, and game-based learning. The presentation argued that technology helps motivate students, develops deeper understanding, and teaches 21st century skills, so schools must continue integrating new technologies to prepare students.
GBL in Upper Primary Education
This document summarizes a study on introducing games-based learning through game construction using the Scratch programming environment in upper primary education. A survey of 42 teachers found that while many use online games, few use game creation tools. The study involved 60 students aged 8-11 who took part in 8 lessons to create games with Scratch. 29 games were made addressing various programming concepts. Results showed most students were able to create functional games, with older students more likely to create original games versus adapting examples. The study provides initial evidence that game construction can help teach programming concepts to primary students. Further work is needed with more students across ages and schools.

SWOT Analysis on the Use of ICT - Romania
Students take 4 ICT classes and 1 programming class per week, totaling 7 classes. The school has 3 computer labs with 30 desktop computers each, as well as a physics lab equipped with laptops, a video projector, and an interactive whiteboard. The interactive whiteboard allows for greater student participation and makes classes more dynamic. The school also uses an eLearning platform called AeL that provides online courses, simulations, and assessments to increase student motivation. While the labs help direct learning towards practical applications, some are outdated and insufficient for the number of teachers wanting to use them. GBL in Upper Primary Education
This document summarizes a study on introducing games-based learning through game construction using the Scratch programming environment in upper primary education. Technology in educational institutions can both improve and potentially harm students' academic performance. While devices like smartphones, laptops, and virtual reality can enable online learning, designing, media production and coding, overuse of smartphones is linked to decreased class attendance. However, tests show students generally perform better on performance tests in classrooms equipped with educational technology compared to traditional classrooms, though not all students have access or knowledge to use technology effectively. To maximize benefits and mitigate risks, schools should provide devices and training to students, utilize a variety of platforms for learning, and continue innovating classroom technology tools.
