Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) at Hindustan Unilever (HUL)Rohan Bharaj
This presentation showcases the CSR activities undertaken by the biggest FMCG company in India - HUL.
It also talks about how it has impacted the lives of so many people in a positive way.
India, a country with one of the oldest civilisations of the world had the concept of sanitation from Indus valley days. Excavations at Harappa and Mohenjadaro sites show evidence that even in ancient India, the practice of using toilets was prevalent and even community toilets and proper drainage systems were present. Yet so many centuries later, it is a paradoxical reality that the country is grappling with the problems of open defecation and access to sanitation facilities. Sanitation, in today’s parlance, is a comprehensive concept which includes waste disposal, environmental, domestic, personal and food hygiene. It is one of the basic determinants of quality of life and human development index. Good sanitary measures and proper utilisation of the facilities is an important component of healthy living including reduction of morbidity and mortality and prevention of water and soil pollution. Lack of clean drinking water, improper disposal of waste and human excreta, improper environmental sanitation and lack of personal and food hygiene - all of this has direct adverse impact on health, quality of life and economic and social well being. A number of innovative and successful approaches have increased access to sanitation. However, much more needs to be done to scale-up and sustain these efforts.

International tourism and hospitality management in abms switzerland universityJakilion
The study program in International Tourism and Hospitality Management is designed for students who are aspiring to hold careers in the management industry, and is comprised of four 3-month blocks
In 2013, Making All Voices Count launched the “Global Innovation Competition” which challenged a global audience to design a solution that would improve governments’ responsiveness and accountability to citizens. The competition was unique in that anyone – from organization to average citizens - no matter where they were in the world was welcome to apply to win the grand prize of £65,000.
Learn how MAVC:
- set up the competition within a short period of time and collected over 60,000 votes in the first round
- used the Ideascale platform to conduct a peer review exercise for the 30 semi-finalists
- identified the winning idea, which improved the delivery of government services to those who needed them most

Transformative Innovation for Development: Social Capital Credits (SoCCs)AsiaInitiatives
SoCCs or Social Capital Credits is a virtual system of exchange for social good that combines the best practices of carbon credits, MPesa, and eBay. This breakthrough concept is currently being tested in pilot sites in India, Ghana and Costa Rica. It aims to empower communities to improve their own lives, while leveraging the multiplier effect of each development dollar.
As IRSP enters 16th year of its establishment as a social development organization and pioneering ground breaking concepts like CLTS and MHM in the region, I am hopeful that our tireless efforts in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene sector has been showing its significant improvement in people’s lives and are adapting better practices for a healthy life.
