Social messaging is necessary, but it only part of the answer
Recognize it’s a smartphone (voice, camera, browser, messaging)
Wholesale consolidation will continue and margins will be squeezed (in the medium to long term)
Applications are necessary for margin growth
Application focus will move into conversations, insight, and customer experience (customers get to what they want faster)

Unprecedented consolidation through 2020 into 2021, mainly within programmable communications. We’re going to see in the coming years are more enterprise / web companies joining this spree. Will Okta need more than 2FA for mobile authentication?
Think of Programmable Communications as telecoms done in a web way. Question: are telcos or enterprise/web companies more likely to act fast?

The march of the IoT - Jérôme Poulain, Orange Business ServicesSITA
Stand by for the revolution. Everyone’s talking about the Internet of Things, and while there’s clearly much more to it than hype, a lot of serious questions still need to be addressed. What impact can we expect on the workings of the air transport industry and the lives of our passengers? What technologies and innovations will make the difference? What opportunities can we start exploiting now and further down the road? How will the IoT play out on board, as we learn more about connected aircraft? And what other use cases exist in our industry?
From Disappointment to Delight: How to build with IoTMike Vladimer
This presentation answers 4 key questions for teams that are working with internet-of-things (IoT) devices or building their own devices:
What is IoT?
What is not IoT?
Why does IoT disappoint?
Why does IoT delight?

MIT Enterprise Forum of Cambridge Connected Things panel: IoT in Motion
Today things are in constant motion, creating the need to track and trace, not only an items location, but to understand the entire journey- temperature, pressure, humidity. Today pallets, cases, cartons and boxes are all being tagged joining the world of IOT enabled devices. Billions of dollars are wasted on lost items, spoiled food and improperly handled pharmaceuticals, but by deploying IoT related solutions provides each of these items with a “voice” to capture and play back their journey.
The end game is to create an IoT network with a clear vision from beginning to the end is enabled, effectively creating the concept of a “glass pipeline” where visibility and data is available throughout an items journey.

Secure Real Time Monitoring & Analysis for IoT Product EngineeringInfostretch
Poor visibility, limited analytics capabilities, and overly complex configuration updates are among the key challenges facing MedTech and IoT product engineering companies today. Join AWS and Infostretch on October 6th to learn how a new framework that brings remote monitoring, management and analysis together on a single platform, will give engineering and operations teams the insight they need to proactively support their customers.
IoT product engineering teams will be familiar with managing device operations in different silos for different technology layers. This makes it difficult to determine how well devices are performing on the ground, and analyzing the root cause of device failure can be extremely challenging and time-consuming. In this webinar, we will take a detailed look at Infostretch’s Remote Device Management Platform (RDMP), which is currently available on the AWS marketplace, and explore its key benefits, including:
• IoT Device Optimization – How RDMP enhances device usability by both understanding usage and error patterns and determining device health and failure.
• Valuable Insight – How RDMP enables IoT product engineering teams to start collecting data from edge devices to the cloud with just a few minor configurations and integrations.
• Configurable Dashboards – How dashboards can be used for remote device management, real-time monitoring and analytics visualization of user journeys and device events.
• Ease of Integration – Integrating the framework at any level of the product lifecycle from PoC to market release.

Universal Platform Solution for Digital CitiesSmarter.World
In many areas of our daily life, things and services are modernized, transformed and completely newly developed - privately, professionally, industrially and publicly. The possibilities for solutions that are fully associated with the buzzword digitization are almost endless. With new technologies, cities, communities and municipalities can offer their citizens, visitors and companies a multitude of modern “smart” services.
Smart buildings, digital images of a city (digital twin), traffic control systems (smart traffic), e-charging and parking management (smart charge & park), green space/parking management (green campus) or public information systems (digital city portal) are just a few application examples.
Edge IoT is a technology Witekio believes in. It is now reaching an inflexion point. The need for responsiveness, local computing capacity (especially for data crunching, AI and machine learning), security, IoT bandwidth makes this«trend » relevant to face B2B and industrial challenges.

How WSO2 API Manager Supports the Ministry of Hajj and UmrahWSO2
The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah aims to serve the pilgrims and Umrah in the best way possible. With dozens of internal and external systems already integrated to fulfill the ministry's many business needs, it was vital to maintain an organized and well-defined integration strategy. APIs play a pivotal role in this, and managing them was a key priority and a prime concern.
WSO2, in partnership with Sejel Technologies, designed and implemented a dedicated API management platform for the ministry of Hajj and Umrah, and to date provides professional support.
Owing to the significant increase in integration endpoints and stakeholders, the need to formally manage the ministry’s assets exposed through APIs was essential. Following a thorough evaluation of the API management offerings available in the market, the ministry selected WSO2 API Manager. Not only did the platform meet all of the requirements—such as security, policy enforcement, clustered high availability options, and analytical reporting—it also came with professional support and the active involvement of WSO2 consultants, who were committed to the goal of achieving API sophistication.
We will also cover:
Why the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah required a dedicated API management platform.
The evaluation criteria and how the ministry shortlisted WSO2 API Manager.
How WSO2 API Manager helps the ministry efficiently achieve its business goals.
How the ministry benefits from WSO2’s support model and expertise.
How to release more reliable, better-performing APIs

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!

GDG Cloud Southlake #33: Boule & Rebala: Effective AppSec in SDLC using Deplo...James Anderson
Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.
