Seed plants first evolved around 360 million years ago and include gymnosperms and angiosperms. Gymnosperms were the first seed plants and include conifers, cycads, ginkgo, and Gnetales. They reproduce using naked seeds which are not enclosed in an ovary, unlike the enclosed seeds of flowering plants.
