CGI animation uses computers to create moving images. The first mostly CGI animated film nominated for Best Picture was Beauty and the Beast in 1991, which had good sound and flow despite lower quality animation. Toy Story in 1995 was the first feature film made entirely with CGI and had good character models and soundtrack, though lower image quality. More recently, Despicable Me in 2010 showed high definition quality animation and objects with smooth scenes and great detail.
