The study looked at four off-dock terminals at Tema port using Data Envelopment Analysis to determine
and analyze the efficiency changes using panel data from 2015-2018. The DEA model has commonly been used in
the port sector. DEA window analysis is used to determine the efficiency of ports and to observe the possibility of
changes in the port efficiency over time. labour, forklifts, reach stackers, trucks, and the terminal storage area
were employed as input variables and container throughput as an output variable. Inclusion A.P Moller Terminal
showed the highest efficiency result event its labour variable was less efficient compared to other selected
terminals understudy. On the other hand, Tema Container terminal found to be the least efficient port obtaining
the lowest average efficiency rating over the period under study. Findings from this study showed that some
terminals had excess equipment as well as excess labour. And for these terminals to maintain constant and
improving efficiency, there would need to cut down some labour and also lease out unused equipment.
SELECTION OF DRY PORT LOCATION FOR COSCO SHIPPING LINE GHANA COMPANY LIMITED ...
The aim of this research was to select an optimal location for a Dry Port to increase responsiveness and
efficiency to meet customer demand. The method used to acquire information was qualitative where reference was
made from publications and websites. This research revealed that transport cost to landlocked countries (Burkina
Faso, Mali and Niger) from Tema port is high. With this and other related circumstances urged the search for an
optimal location of Dry Port for COSCO shipping line to satisfy their customers.
The Center of Gravity and Analytic Hierarchy Process models were used together with forecasting model and time
series regression analysis. This gave a thorough guide in the selection of the optimal location.
Port terminal operations cost contribution to the supply chain
Transnet Port Terminals' contribution to supply chain costs is relatively low. The World Bank report found that Transnet's port charges and terminal handling fees combined make up only 15.6% of the total cost of exporting a container from Johannesburg to Rotterdam. Inland transportation and handling costs are much higher, accounting for 60% of total supply chain costs. Compared to other countries, South Africa's port charges are around 12% lower than the global average. While it is expensive to trade from South Africa due to its distance from major markets, Transnet's fees are competitive internationally and not a primary contributor to high supply chain costs from South Africa.
Indian shipping in international trade

Supply chain resilience is a company’s ability to react to issues and recover from them with a big impact to the company’s operations. I believe for a firm to design and develop a more resilient supply chain is focusing on the three core enables which are, the people, the process, and technology.
For companies to complete work, they need employees. People to help run the company, so they hire people with the skill set and knowledge to run departments and to use machinery etc. the next step is process. It has been proven that employees perform at their best when they are empowered by an effective process. To manage shortages and to increase supply chain resilience company’s need to be that they have an effective process in place that employees can follow for the flow to run smoothly.
Technology can help company’s complete processes more easily and accurately. Real time analytics and decision support tools, including enterprise resource planning also known as ERP and electronic data interchange platforms, can help provide data needed to help run the company.

Logistics Objectives of the session The objective of the session was to bring together representatives of stakeholder groups to identify the main impediments to regional connectivity and discuss practical solutions to removing these barriers hindering the region's competitiveness Key messages from the panel to CGF participants Investing in human resources and building the capacity of personnel working in logistics Increasing utilization rates / efficiency factors at ports should take precedent over physical expansion investments Promoting better use of schooner vessels and inter-island small craft feeder services for interisland connecting routes will be necessary to complement the large-tier services from transshipment and the secondary tier direct services to/from Miami and other large regional hubs. Key messages from the CGF participants to the panel We must also focus on the in-land portion of the logistics bottlenecks (not just the maritime leg), including cold storage, road quality and congestion, links between ports and processing zones. We cannot forget to support and strengthen the "soft" side of the logistics business, including services such as trucking (what is the state of the trucking industry? how competitive is it?); freight forwarding and consolidating; warehousing and inventory management; customs clearance and brokerage; SPS regulations and inspections (which must be harmonized). The shipping business goes hand-in-hand with the aviation business. We should look at the use of air carrier belly space for cargo, the facilities, services and regulations that support that business as a growing and important complement to ocean freight.
