Soldiers made up many of the deaths in the cemetery because they fought in the wars in Hong Kong. The most common age of death was 30, which was a common age for soldiers. Graves were also dedicated to those who drowned at sea, since their bodies could not be recovered, and many of the deceased were from England since Hong Kong was formerly a British colony.
