The English Cemetery in Malaga, Spain is the only non-Catholic cemetery in the city. It was established in 1831 when the British Consul, William Mark, obtained land for a burial ground for non-Catholics. An Anglican church was later built on the cemetery grounds in 1839-40. Today the cemetery contains the graves of people from many different countries and backgrounds, and serves as a reminder of Malaga's history of international residents.

The English Cemetery in Málaga, or Anglican
Cemetery, or Cemetery of Saint George is the only non-
catholic cemetery in Málaga. In this cemetery stands the
Saint George's Anglican Church. William Mark, who was
the British Consul in Málaga asked for build a cemetery
for the people that have a different religion other than
Catholic. Before the cemetery was built, the people that
had a different creed other than Catholic were burried on
the sea shore at night.
The Anglican Cemetery was built in 1831. In 1839-40
a temple was built in the cemetery. This temple is now
the Saint George's Anglican Church.

5. REBEMBERING THE DEAD
“El día de los muertos” is a Mexican celebration
that is celebrated on November 2 nd . In Mexico,
people compose funny rhymes for the living
people and they make sweet skulls for the dead
people.
6. WILLIAM MARK
Willian Mark: He was a British Consul in
Malaga. After trying to organise a cemetery for
many years, finally with the governor José
Manso's help, the land for the cemetery was
granted by King Ferdnand VII, in 1824. He is
buried there with his relatives.
7. JORGE GUILLÉN
Jorge Guillén Alvarez (Valladolid, January 18 th ,
1893 – Málaga, February 6th , 1984) was a poet
and a Spanish literature critic. His first studies
were in Valladolid as well in Madrid. He finished
his studies in the University of Granada. In this
years he travelled Europe and married. He started
working and publishing poems and later was a
reader in many universities. When the war
started, he was in Valladolid and went to jail in
Pamplona, and then he exilled himself. His wife
died in 1947. In 1958 he moved from Italy to
Málaga, where he was buried after his dead.
8. ROBERT BOYD
Robert Boyd: One of the first graves of the
English Cemetery was his grave. He was a young
Irish liberal which helped General Torrijos. Robert
Boyd was killed in “San Andrés” beach in 1831.
9. GAMEL WOOLSEY
Gamel Woolsey: (South Carolina, 1895 –
Málaga, 1968) was a poet and entusiastic
novelist. She moved to New York in 1921 and in
1930, she married a writer, Gerald Brenan who
lived in Spain. She published some books, the
first one was “Malaga in Flames”. It was about the
civil war in Málaga. She died of breast cancer in
1968.

BIOGRAFIA DE TORRIJOS
José María Torrijos y Uriarte (Madrid, March
20th, 1791 – Malaga, December 11th , 1831) know
as General Torrijos, he was a liberal military and a
fighter in “la guerra de independencia española”.
The General Torrijos was executed in a beach of
Málaga after a failed liberal uprising against the
role of Fernando VII.
11. LENGUA
El Cementerio de los Ingleses es un lugar en el centro de Málaga
donde hace parte de la historia de esta ciudad la nuestra. A parte,
también perecen allí cuerpos de personas oriundas de otros países
que murieran donde nacimos. Este cementerio anglicano, uno de los
pocos de España, posee en su interior un amplio jardín fúnebre,
compuesto por plantas propias de los cementerios debido a la
asociación que reciben con la muerte, sobre todo las amapolas, las
únicas flores que crecen en los campos de batallas, aún los muertos
perecidos allí. El cementerio se dispone de dicho jardín, del
cementerio original, en la parte “norte” del cementerio si acaso la
entrada fuese en el sur; y de una iglesia anglicana, con cojines en los
bancos, sin imagen alguna salvo las cristaleras con imágenes
bíblicas y con un pequeño puesto de donación para los sin hogares.
Las tumbas son esculpidas por un famoso marmolista.
12. Las tumbas de lonchas del cementerio original, el respeto que
imponen los obeliscos, las tumbas tan simples, el diseño arcaico
de la iglesia... todo esto da la impresión de respeto y luto de los
cementerios, el toque inglés (país de donde procede la religión
anglicana), el recordatorio de que está en Málaga (las conchas
recuerdan a la costa, por lo que es más conocida nuestra ciudad y
la simplicidad que tiene, de las tumbas, de los muros, de las
plantas tan comunes, dan un tono de humildad y de simplicidad al
cementerio. Es un aire único de este cementerio combinando
todas las cosas extranjeras que hay en todas las religiones
europeas y el toque humilde y costero que le da Málaga. Es
sencillamente un toque único y propio.
13. Las personas allí enterradas, son historias importantes; la
pequeña Violette, los cuarenta y dos oficiales del Crescinau, el
primer enterrado Robert Boyd, quién ayudó al General Torrijos
a rebelarse contra Fernando VII, el cónsul británico Willian
Mark, el escritor Jorge Guilén...no solo son muertos en sus
nichos, también son parte de la historia de Málaga. Algunos
notables, como se ve en el Puente de los Alemanes, y otros no
tanto pero significativos en la historia, como Robert Boyd...
Respetad a los muertos, respetad a vuestros antepasados,
respetad a la historia que os pertenece.

CEMITIÈRE DU PERE LACHAISE
C'est un cemitière à Paris où beaucoup de
celèbres de tout le monde sont enterés. Ce
cimitière est trés grand.
La localization est au nord du cimitière de
Montmartre est au sud du cimitière de
Montparnasse.
Il a été construit au XIX ème siègle par Alexandre
Théodore Brongniart. Deux célèbres français qui
sont enterrés sont Jean-François Champillion et
Édith Piaf. Et un autre célèbre qui est d'un autre
pays est Fédéric Chopin.
15. ALEXANDRE DUMAS
Alexandre Dumas est né le 24 juillet 1802 et il
est mort le 5 décembre 1870. Il est né dans la
ville de Aisne et il est mort dans la ville de Seine-
Maritime. Sa tombe est dans le cimitiére Père-
Lachaise (Paris). Alexandre Dumas est un
écrivain français. Il est connu par ces livres et
éspecialment “Les Trois Mousquetaires”.
16. EDITH PIAF
Édith Piaf est née le 19 décembre 1915 à Paris
et elle est mort le 10 octobre 1963 à Grasse.
C'est une chanteuse française de music-hall et de
variétés.

flowers and they are followed by small red berries.

Aloe vera is a species of suculent plant that
probably is originated in Northern Africa. The
