Biologists use the ideas of cell theory, hereditary and genetics, and evolution through natural
selection in many different ways. While being very different areas of study, they all share a core
idea. This idea is that cells duplicate, and sometimes experience random mutations. From this very
basic idea, scientists can theorize that all life on earth came from one or a few very simple cells, and
are related through this. But the diversity of life today also shows how these related cell groups
evolved and changed.
Cell theory is the scientific knowledge that cells can only come from other cells. Years ago, when
the idea of spontaneous generation was disproved, a new theory came into play and allowed

Back when scientist first found fossils they compared them to moderate day organisms . Scientists
then realized that the fossils and the moderate day organisms remains didn't look alike and had
features that the other didn't have. Moderate day scientist have technology that they can date back

A homologous structure is a structure that animals have in common. For an example, humans, bats,

One of the many examples that support this idea that organisms evolve and change over time is the
finding of the Tiktaalik; though it is an unknown species it has traits that are similar to reptiles,
amphibians, and birds that exist today. Because of fossil findings like the Tiktaalik scientists no

world. Scientist and creationist both argue that their perspective is more right than the other. In
reality both sides don't know the exact truth behind the creation of the world. Evolution is the
process in which something changes into something different and typically resulting in it becoming
more complex and better formed. Charles Darwin, an English naturalist and geologist, suggested a
theory best known as the "Theory of Evolution," stating that animals evolved into species that could
withstand the changing of the environment, increasing their ability to survive, and keeping the
genetic traits that was passed onto them by their ancestors to reproduce offspring that are similar to

Species" in 1859. It is when an animal changes over time it changes its heritable physical or
behavioral traits. This happens so a species is better suited to live in an environment and to have

It can happen many ways like a population to change color or size over the course of several
generations. This is called "microevolution." But over time it can become bigger it can create new
species, known as "macroevolution." Darwin did know anting about anything about genetics or how

ancestors" [1]. Many great scientists have developed theories to answer the question, "Where did
life, and human beings, come from?" Two major theories of evolution that still exist, and valid today
are Charles Darwin's theory, and Lamarck's theory. These two theories have many differences, but
attempt to explain evolution.
Charles Robert Darwin, was a naturalist, who proposed one of the most renowned theories of
evolution; the theory of "Natural Selection". Darwin published his work of evolution through his
book, The Origin of Species and describes the process of evolution as the "survival of the fittest".
There are four processes to Natural Selection – Variation, Inheritance, Time and Selection. Variation
is individuals' genetic makeup can vary within a population. Variation can occur three ways; sex (the
independent assortment of and recombination of genes through meiosis and other processes), gene
flow ("movement of genes from one population to another")[2] and random mutation. Inheritance is
the inheritance of genetic traits from parent to offspring. Time is the timeframe where evolutionary
changes, such as speciation, can happen. Selection is "survival of the fittest", where the favourable

Charles Darwin theory of evolution contains two parts. The first part "Evolution Occurs" meaning
organisms change over time in heritable physical or behavioral traits and life on earth has changed
as people change from ancestors in the past. Second part "Evolution Occurs by Natural Selection"
natural selection is the process in which living things with beneficial traits produce more off spring
than others which results in changes that allow an organism to better adapt to its environment can
help it survive over time. All life on earth is connected and related to each other and diversity of life
came from modifications in populations in natural selectin. Natural selection can also be described
as survival of the fittest in which the fittest is the ability to survive and reproduce. Most people

of hominin evolution. It is important for Paleoanthropologists to continue their work because there

previous understanding of hominin evolution was a straight line of an ape evolving into a human.
