The aims of the Effective Education for Employment project are twofold:
• First, to identify the key challenges around developing talented, capable people to fulfil the workforce requirements of businesses and organisations worldwide.
• Second, to begin the process of addressing these challenges.
Consequently, this report represents a contribution to the debate and a starting point for further discussion and action.
The project is particularly interested in presenting an international comparison of some of the world’s fastest growing nations. The issues in these countries are, arguably, most acute. Not only is the pace of change creating unprecedented demand for skilled labour, but also these new economic powers are predominantly developing nations
who are facing significant challenges around reforming their education systems.
The concept of globalisation is often used to refer to the blurring of international economic boundaries and the increasing connectivity of the world’s economies. It seems now that professional education sits firmly within this paradigm.
While country-specific skills demands still exist, the focus of education is ever more on portable qualities that individuals can use in any job, in any sector, anywhere in the world. The irony is that in the knowledge economy, knowledge alone is not enough and, in fact, is less important than having the right attitude and understanding how to learn and how to behave. In one sense, the challenges for education are very much
social and are therefore culturally defined.
However, the overall picture of demand and need is remarkably similar across the world. And it is possible to characterise both a set of common issues (which we do below) and propose a series of actions to improve the impact education can have on the ability of a workforce to support and grow the economy. Considering the need for greater emphasis on soft skills –communication, leadership, critical thinking, confidence – it is perhaps at school that teaching these skills and attributes should begin.
The performance of real life achievers vis-à-vis academic achievers has long been a subject of debate and discussion. It has often been witnessed that real life achievers often do not possess remarkable academic credentials, though this is not always the case. Conversely, it is seen that a strong academic record does not always translate into professional success. All the
same, there are countless examples of personalities who possess both- a remarkable academic track-record as well as a string of professional achievements. This study focuses on the nature of both kinds of “successes” as well as how they are perceived at the societal and the
individual level. The researchers have attempted to illustrate their observations and findings by way of examples taken from real life. What constitutes success and how it is judged or gauged in terms of academic achievement and professional career is the underlying theme of this paper.

This topic will fall within the science/description and social civic breadth area of liberal
arts. First, Social/Civic because the climate affects the entire world and the >>>> policy

objective. Many Activist believe that science has proven global warming to be a real
ecological concern yet many countries and individuals in society choose not to
acknowledge global warming as fact.
The Science/Description breadth area because as mentioned one must believe in the facts
and evidence provided on the topic. Global warming and the study of its effects requires
an understanding of nature and the structure. Technological advances may provide many
solutions to the challenge, however, few countries have the financial means or education
to implement such solutions.

intend that this group or person will change it's/his/her thinking or take action because of

The purpose of this study is to have a deeper understanding of global politics and how the

in the modern big-city commercial environment.

reintegrate Christ into Business

Peters Catholic Church, and various other churches
and hear the good news, but in reality we are
confronted by the absolute secularization of the
Commercial World.
9. Current state of affairs?
By and large, not only has American business
neglected the “technicality” of Christmas being a
sacred holiday celebrating Christ’s birth, but many
large enterprises seem to have deliberately purged
any mention and visibility of Jesus from the
enterprise.

Before we despair too much…
Many Christians are active in their faith in the
business environment even though at times they are
not very visible.
We need to demonstrate to our students, whenever
possible, that there are opportunities in the field to
make the message and values of Christ known

only expect an education that is relevant to their
career, but also appreciate this approach and
evaluate these courses higher.

Policy and Strategy has been a staple offering of
business programs for over 40 years in most business
schools.
One of the original intentions was to encourage
and/or force integration into a comprehensive
whole.
Objectives for the course varies by professors, their

For institutions located in small communities, the
quality and variety available are often very limited.

lean manufacturing, program planning, globalization,
strategy formulation and implementation,
sustainability, CSR, etc.
But often question whether these things are really used
