CBCT stands for cone beam computed tomography, a 3D imaging technique used in dentistry for various applications including endodontics, oral surgery, pediatrics, orthodontics, implants and periodontics. It provides 3 planar views of the area being imaged - axial, sagittal and coronal - allowing visualization of anatomical structures. CBCT has advantages over traditional medical CT in dental applications by using a lower radiation dose and producing higher resolution images of the jaw and face.
