In one of the most beautiful chapters of the Qur’an (Surah al-Kahf), a wonderful account of the Companions of the Cave is provided in considerable detail. Seven faithful youngsters escaped religious persecution and sought refuge in a cave. Allah rewarded and protected them, by putting them to sleep for 309 years.
The slides will Insha Allah explain the story in full, as well as highlight the important lessons to be derived from it.

Given the dire need for Islamic studies material in schools incorporating the subject in English. Dar-us-salam has endeavored to publish an Islamic Studies series covering all the grades, from grade one through grade twelve.
This series covers all areas of Islamic studies: tafseer, hadeeth, tawheed, fiqh, seerah, and general etiquette relating to different areas and situations. Given the importance of authentic Islamic knowledge, every effort has been made to ensure that the material presented in the series is authentic. Also, given the importance of Arabic Islamic terms, most of the terms are presented in their original Arabic script, along with the transliteration and the translation of their meanings. This also applies to supplications which have to be memorized in their Arabic version. The aim here is to help the reader read the original text and understand its meaning. Each lesson is followed by exercises covering questions about the lesson.
One striking feature in the series is the colorful artwork used in it will certainly appeal to children. This is certainly bound to attract the young readers’ attention, stimulate them, amuse them as well as educate them.
This series aims to acquaint the student with the teachings of Islam in every aspect: beliefs, practices and moral conduct. This series, with its unique features, certainly fills a gap in this area which has long been partially neglected.

What does “Islam” mean?
The word الإسلام [Islam] is an infinitive word derived from س ل م [silm] root in if‘al pattern and used as noun and infinitive. The word silm means “release/keeping away; and to be distant from fear, doubt, trouble, lack of peace, unhappiness, fight, war, pain, suffering, material and spiritual inconveniences, weakness and decaying, and all the negativities.” This word is also the root of salim, selam, teslim, Islam etc. The word’s “Islam” form means “strengthening” [removal from problems, worries, fear, unhappiness, fights, wars, and similar negative things]. Hence, the religion Islam means the “the religion that strengthens humans [entire range of principles that protects and secures people by putting a distance between them and problems, worries, war, weakness, spiritual illness, unhappiness, and similar things].”

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

5. A handful of faithful youngsters
lived in a time when religious
persecution was common.
So they fled the town. They took
refuge in a cave and put their trust
in Allah.
Allah ensured all forms of comfort
& ease for them in the cave by
putting them to sleep for 309
years.
6. They were the sons of kings & leaders.
They were surrounded by people who indulged in
idol-worship.
During a festival, they came together, united in
their hatred for Shirk.
Thereafter they found a place & began to
worship Allah.
The king found out & summoned them.
He gave them time to change their mind. During
this time, they decided to flee the town.
7. When they entered the cave, then they certainly
would have had questions that needed
answering.
How long are we safe here?
Where shall we eat & drink from?
Would they have to leave the cave at all, even
temporarily?
In one stroke of unbelievable mercy, Allah
granted them a prolonged sleep, which
answered all of their questions & dilemmas.
8. In order for them to sleep for 309 years safely ,
Allah ensured certain things…
*Turning left to
right
*Covering of the ears
*Suspension of time *Eyes open
*Position of the cave in
relation to the sun
9. Allah states: ‘And their dog stretching forth
his two forelegs at the entrance.’
As they slept, the dog remained at the
entrance of the cave, guarding them.
Imam al-Qurtubi: By keeping the
companionship of the pious, even a dog can
become so special that it warrants a mention
in the Holy Qur’an.
10. After 309 of peaceful sleep, they woke.
Their bodies were perfectly intact.
They were hungry so one of them left the cave to
get some food.
The shopkeeper did not recognise the currency.
Eventually, the sleepers realised they had woken
up 309 years later.
After meeting the locals & the king, they went
back to sleep & Allah caused them a natural
death.
11. When they passed away, the locals disputed
what to do next with their burial...
Some suggested making a building at the
mouth of the cave as a memorial.
Others suggested building a place of worship
there where people could worship their Lord.
15. When you are persecuted & oppressed, invoke the
mercy of Allah.
Allah never neglects the one who holds strong onto
His religion in times of turmoil.
The Karamats of the Awliya are proven from the

To build a Mizar at the site of the deceased pious is
