This document contains descriptions of several classroom activities and games involving children in groups or individually. The activities focus on topics like writing, spelling, math, coordination, and counting. 2. What is it?
4 children stand in
different corners of the
room.
Teacher/children ask a
question.
The children standing up
can call out answers.
The first child to answer
correctly gets to move a
step forward.
If they are close to
someone else they can
tag them and that person
is out.

3. What is it?
In groups, children have one minute to
write about the topic in front of them.
After the time is up the children screw
the information into a snowball and
pass/throw it on to the next group.
The new group unscrew the paper, circle
anything they think is wrong and
underline anything they don’t understand.
They can add to the page too.
Repeat till each group has contributed to
each piece of paper.
Allow time for feedback.

4. What is it? Swapping actions and
instructions.
Set of actions:
e.g, run, stop, clap, jump
Swap:
Stop = run
Run = stop
Clap = jump
Jump = clap

5. What is it?
Using parts of the body to trace words/
shape in the air.
e.g: Tenochititlan with your elbow.
Parallelogram with your toe.
Drawing shapes in the air
Symmetry- names
Say the letters of the word as you write.
Extension: Try to write the word
backwards. Watch a neighbour and try and
guess what the word is.

6. What is it? Alphabet edit involves reading the letters
of the alphabet aloud as a class whilst completing
the accompanying action
l left hand raise and r is a right hand raise and t is
both arms together. A further variation (and
complication) is to accompany the raise with an
opposite leg raise!

9. What is it?
In pairs children
alternately say the
numbers 1 to 3.
Extension:

actions., e.g 1 with a
clap, then try 3 with
bending knees.
Children create their own
actions for each number.
